Has anyone tried and possibly had success using Tinder either here or in other mongering locations? I'm curious. One would think it could be an ideal way, particularly if you are looking for a not-so-pro who is look for extra funds and companionship. I haven't heard it mentioned at least here, in favor of more established dating sites like DIA, etc.
Saw the US Ambassador on TV last night. Lots of noise due to the US serviceman, transgender, VFA, EDCA and whether the guy should be in Philippine custody or USS hands (so far USA are keeping the serviceman in their hands). Ambassador was calm and polite about the reasons. Then he said what this article says. As always it is not what they say but want is inferred as he said this in context of the US servicemen currently held in a container someone on a military base.
The actual event was captured and CCTV and is on You Tube also (ie the other guys murder). The 4 guys are sons of very wealthy people so it is said and the 'convictions' were not mentioned in the press until now, until the Ambassador said it in the TV interview. One of the accused fathers said he would write to the President as his son was being locked up with bad people LOL.

The service certainly does vary from country. Buyer beware.

In addition, I think he was sending a message to the media as to how bias they are with respect to their coverage about the cases.

Since I'm planning to be in the Philippines in February, I have a couple of concerns. I have a friend who recently (last week) was in Manila and Angels City and he told me the traffic was a reason he wouldn't return there. While I will visit Cebu and a friend there, on my way home I plan to visit Manila. But have concerns. Since many of you guys say good things about Mania, what did he do wrong about the traffic. Is there a better time to use a taxi? He stayed near the Mall of Asia. I will either try that are or maybe go to the Makakti area, as a fine member here told me good things about it. Just thinking what and where would be suggestions for just a 3-4 day stop in the Manila area and would it be worth with this time constraint to go on to Angeles City, which he seemed to like more. Please advise me with your infinite experience and wisdom.

Traffic seems to ease up around 8-9 pm in the eve and stays relatively light until 6 - 6:30 am. Atleast I hate the traffic so I mostly time my arrivals / departures within the timewindow I just gave you. Then you should be able to get your ass down to MOA in a breeze. I have also arrived around 2 pm T3 and had relatively easy rides (timewice) to Makati. Must have beat the upcoming horrendous rush hours.
Regarding if you want to choose AC over Manila or both beats me as I never been or never will go AC (I don't hunt hookers). I have more than enough fun in Makati. I am sure other punters will be of different opinion and give you some heads up.

I think I may just stay in Manila, possibly Makati. I'd rather just meet the Philippine people and ladies of course.
Adding to what Skogis said, there are three things you can do adapt to traffic. Firstly, stay in an area where you intend to monger. If you're the type of guy who wants dating site girls to come to you MOA is not a bad spot. It's a clean, safe location that doesn't scare women, dissuading them to visit. Plenty of nice hotels and condos. You have bar options right there on the Manila Bay and at Blue Wave. Many dining options. A couple of casinos. Easy to / from NAIA. And it's not too far from Edsa Entertainment complex. But if you intend to spend a lot of time at LA Cafe, Burgos or Havana then MOA isn't the best-suited location. Secondly, it's best to travel the city at night, the later the better. I usually don't leave my place until after 11 pm. If you're the type of guy who wants to hit bars at 7 pm you'll want to stay near them. Lastly, your attitude when stuck in traffic will largely determine your hapenis.
You can make all the adjustments and still find yourself in gridlock. If this is something that shall wilt your hapenis then AC is a better option. You just have to deal with the traffic to/from there.

On 3-4 days trying to get around Manila in taxis, you'll become very frustrated. It's not only the taxis. Its the extortionist drivers too that refuse to use the meters and want to charge you 500 php for a 170 php ride. Take notice that they're now also doing armed robberies on their customers.
I've lived in and around Manila now for 2 years and the taxi situation has gotten absurd. This entire megalopolis has become so ridiculously absurd for traveling in, I've resigned myself to move elsewhere in the country. A good example is that it's probably about 60 total miles from where I live to Angeles. Two weeks ago the trip took 6. 5 hours!!
I don't know what time you're getting into Manila, but if you check out the AC thread, you'll see that many hotels there have private cars that will pick you up at your terminal in Manila and drive you to AC lickity split. You'll be doing yourself a favor. Once in AC you can walk or trike.
I just can't stress how bad the traffic and taxi situation has become, particularly around NAIA. I've been to some pretty bad airports. NAIA is continually rated as one of the worst in the world. The deplorable, corrupt and criminal taxi situation there has made it the worst destination I've ever flown into. Need I say anymore?

I always try to be positive about the Philippines because I have made a decision to remain here for the past 17 years for my work, and I bought a condo so I try to be positive. However, the traffic situation has now become absolutely dreadful and has most people at breaking point.
It is not just the Christmas rush either.
I live in Ortigas and so I have no problem walking to my work bases or to 4 large malls for supplies, meetings etc. The problem occurs when I need to go ANYWHERE outside a 2 km radius and need to use a car. I predicted it long ago with the crazy over-building of condos and call centers with no accompanying infrastructure support so that the increased numbers of people and cars have the same crowded streets to deal with.
So Huts solution is really the only one. Stay very close to your point of business so that you can walk or you will go crazy with the traffic gridlocks. And don't go out until 10 pm at night, although this restriction will undermine your quality of life.
Dg8787's flippant response of "What traffic?" is understandable for someone who may spend only a week in Manila, but when you live here and deal with it day by day it becomes seriously overwhelming.
I deal with it by staying very close to home in Ortigas, and psyching myself up to be able to tolerate the dysfunctional travel times if ever I have to go to Makati or to the Manila (old) side of town.
