Khon Kaen and Maha Sarakham
I recently visited Khon Kaen, unfortunately in the company of a group of Thais, where they introduced me to a small fishbowl establishment in the Kosa Hotel. I forget the name, but the Kosa is imposssible to miss. The soapy had about 15 girls working, priced at 1,100, 1,500, and 1,700 baht. None were worth those prices, though one or two of the 1,700 baht girls was quite pretty. I didn't partake of course due to the ridiculous prices, and besides I had little doubt that only the worst kind of rubberized sex awaited within. We looked for the area of small kareoke brothels near downtown but because we were traveling by car, things didn't look the same as on foot and we were unable to find them. Next stop Maha Sarakham.
Last time I visited Maha Sarakham everything was open - the same three houses with decently cute 20-30 year olds in the small dark soi, and the same two old-lady houses in downtown. But now I found all three of those little houses closed down Udon style - shut up tight! I had to go fuck an old lady. She told me that that soi had just been closed down a week before by the police because of 'drugs', and also said that she did not partake in that pleasure. As I rode her flabby old carcasse, I though to myself 'obviously you don't you fat lazy old thing - without drugs, no thin girls, and worse yet, no motivated girls.'
After this sad experience (which at least was still only 300 baht, and bareback), I asked a motorbike taxi man if the missing girls had moved or if they were really closed. He claimed that I could find girls in the soi, so I returned. There I did find three younger girls around 20 sitting around a motorbike, who offered short time for 500, but they insisted on a condom. They were also to my mind a bit chubby and seemed terribly unfriendly even for upcountry girls (who are invariably more like streetwalkers back home than the friendly girls of Pattya). How I missed my old favorite - a sexy 30 year old but thin and motivated, and now no doubt languishing in prison.
The Forces of Social Control are firmly ensconced in Isaan, fellow mongers, and even in the backwaters - not only in fabled Udon.

I sent the following question to Freeler via PM: "I did not figure out what you meant by Pan Som Bot. What/where is this? My hotel never heard of it."
The Pansombat Hotel is on the same road as the London Hotel, which too is a brothel. From the LH walk towards the railway, the PSB is just after crossing the road, on your right. It may not appear to be a hotel to you.
The PSB has no English sign, but as far as I recollect, it has a sign saying Hotel. It's next to the coffeshop/diner on the corner nearest LH.
There's a small reception area downstairs, during the day a metal 'gate' on the stairs is open, it's closed after 5pm. Just put on an innocent face and ask if you can see a room. They will ring a bell and the ho's (if present) will stand at attention on the first floor.
I'm sure I must have walked by this place, but I have not learned to read Thai script yet, and was looking for Pansombat in Roman letters . I found more than one place with Thai letters and the word HOTEL on a sign, and I remember a steel grate on one or more of them. Maybe they are all brothels. Anyway, now know exactly how to find PSB.
All the women sitting outside LH (London Hotel) are *****s.
I don't recall seeing women sitting outside LH when I went by on Saturday night 10pm or so, but that doesn't mean they aren't sometimes there. It's hilarious that Lonely Planet Thailand recommends LH as a place to stay... when Freeler assures us that it is brothel hotel. I mean, can you imagine some guy who's travelling with his girlfriend booking the place?
Steve - khun pood pah-sa Thai geng roo blao? it's obviously better if you can speak well. Even farang get better service at lower prices ta pood Thai dai. Even "mai geng" gets better attention than "mai dai"
Dinghy, pom khao jai pahsa Thai nitnoy, kahp. And now you have given me some new words to learn and use, thanks!
I don't live in Thailand; but visit now and then. It's hard to improve Thai language ability without daily practice. I'm working on it (even when not in Thailand), and it's been fun to see the difference in the way Thais respond to me when I start speaking Thai to them. It makes ladies are happy, too, and happy always means better service.
Unfortunately, the Pimsleur Thai Language CDs I bought are missing the lesson on negotiating prices with a mamasan. It's another reason I'm less than thrilled with the Pimsleur method; it just does not cover the basics!
Bunterng-jit Hotel, Bunterng-jit Road, Nong Khai
Oldie
Nong Khai: I have to agree on your assessment of the hotel around the corner from the bakery. Not only are the women dogs, the rooms are even worse. The Thai/Lao places just NE of the bus terminal are a better place to look for gals.
Sala ku is awesum. A must see!
Mama quotes 500 ST, 1500 LT, and has more stock than is immediately apparent in the lobby. Can walk them to Huan Lai apartment (has daily rate of 400), or Nong Khai guest house, both 150 metres south on Bunterng-jit road.
Tuk-tuks will take you to the Lao ladyhouses behind the Grand hotel on the outskirts if need bigger selection. Also some crude thatch karaokes there with Thai freelancers at weekends.
Muong Krabi (Krabi Town) and Ao Nang
When I have a couple of days, I like to explore places outside of the city. The ideal is a place that offers interesting daytime activities and mongering options as well. Krabi province became a possible destination for three nights/two days: Have a look at That Asshole's [post=525563]report on South Thailand[/post], which includes a short bit on Krapi.
This is the part that got me interested:
Ladies: No farang bars in town. Those are in Ao Nang, opposite the Seaview resort. The usual Pattaya stuff. However, there are lots of women, on soi 11 Maharat St and around, starting from 500B and up. The girls for 1500 are very pretty. You can walk there but maybe still better if you go with a local like a moto driver, though.
Other things to do: Lots indeed. Visit the Tiger Cave, the Shell Beach, Ao Nang. There is also a superb large park near town. Might be the best public park in Thailand.
Night 1 - Arrival in Krabi Town
I chose City Hotel for proximity to Night Market and to Soi 11 Maharaj, which is where That Asshole said there were ladies. Had a modest meal at the Night Market for 25B, then set out to find Soi 11. Not heeding his advice to go with a local/moto, I walked there to check it out on my own, around 21.30.
The Lonely Planet (LP) map shows only even-numbered sois, but odd sois are on the other side of the road. City Hotel is on Soi 10 (a.k.a. Th Sukhon) across from Night Market; I headed west to Thanon Maharaj. The intersection of Th Maharaj and Soi 10 has big monkey men on the stoplights - umm, you can't miss it. Cross Th Maharaj and turn right to walk north along that street (away from town). Watch the signs... Soi 5, 7, 9, 11. Turn left on Soi 11. Just in a ways on the right there is a big restaurant/bar on the right side - the name has Kafe or some such in it. It does not look like a place to buy ladies, though you might be able to meet non-pros if you're good at that. Across the street, though, I saw two small groups of women sitting at tables.
Went up to the first group and sat down. Getting close enough to see, they were not great-looking ladies, easily on the high side of 25 or 30, only two I would even consider, and not friendly. I don't have enough Thai to converse, so it wasn't long before the subject of money came up. A sassy babe said the price was 2500B, and she acted like she was speaking for the table. I politely said it was too much (note that That Asshole said prices started at 500B). I tried 500B with one I might have accepted, but Sassy was doing all the talking, insisted 2500B. I suggested that it was 1500B in Bangkok, to which Sassy said "then go back to Bangkok." I paused, trying to figure out my next move, but they made it for me: "Go!". No way I would pay 2500B for any of them.
The second group looked better, 25-30 but not older, and when I started talking to one who looked good, the others politely left the table. Her price was 1500B. My counter of 1000B was firmly refused; the price was 1500B. It was early, and I was not ready to settle; I hoped for better at that price, like I would get in BKK. I moved on, noting her for later. In the end I crashed early instead - it had been a long day of travel.
I like to walk to areas and check them out, kind of a loner when it comes to mongering. That Asshole is pretty adamant that it's better to go with a local or moto driver. The downside is that you might pay extra for a commission, usually when they take you to establishments. But the plus side is you might get a more reasonable price to begin with. Ability to haggle politely in Thai might be an alternative to coming with a local
Night 2: Ao Nang, a farang resort town
I got a place in Ao Nang in order to check out the bars That Asshole mentioned across from Seaview. SeaView is currently closed, and it's not on the LP map, hard to find at night.
The road into town ends at the beach road, where you turn right. The bar strip is on the left side as you face the beach road. it is just before the driveway for Peace Laguna Resort, which is on the LP map, well before the beach road. At 22.00 there were some women and not many customers, no doubt many more of both in the high season. I was invited into many places. I could not tell whether these were working girls or hostesses, so I picked a bar for a drink to find out; yes, they can be taken out. An Isaan lady had been smiling at me. She wanted 1500B but agreed to 1000B, and the bar fine is 200B. Service average. She would kiss but no BJ ("mai ow"). For the main act she cooperated with as opposed to getting into it.
There is another bar strip on the beach strip a good way down, on the right. It is just past restaurant Planet Ao Nang, which is on the LP map; one of the first bars as you go in the lane is Smile bar. I was there around 20.00 Friday and one bar had three ladies (not good enough), the rest mostly empty. Probably better later in the evening, or in the high season.
There are other bars and clubs around, some offering music. Most are for farang couples, but it would not surprise me if you could find a local lady in some other place than the two bar strips I found.
Night 3 - back in Krabi Town
I was bored with the farang resort town, so I returned to Krabi Town. Somewhere I read that the Thai Hotel (on Th Issara near Th Phruksauthit, see the LP map or the free city map, <10 minute walk from Night Market) had a big restaurant and nightclub, and one could experience a quaint bit of Thai nightlife there. There's [post=577579]one report[/post] on ISG about this, though he does not mention Thai Hotel in particular, and he suggests there are other places like it.
I booked a room in the hotel figuring it would be convenient if I got lucky. That turned out to be a big mistake on two counts.
First, the hotel, listed in LP as a mid-range place with good rooms, was squalid. Poor plumbing meant sewer gas was coming from the shower drain. Keep the bathroom door closed, or your room smells like an open sewer. Charming. Some tiny crawling bugs and gnats were complimentary.
And there's a second reason you should not stay there, described later.
I needed a massage, and the hotel offered to call a lady to my room, 2 hours for 300B for Thai traditional. They said she was "beautiful lady." I don't need a beauty to give me a good massage, and I prefer older ladies who are not SWs, because massage specialists give better massages. The massage was good, not great, and she offered HJ and other services, I assume for a tip expected. Nice face, but probably 40 and a thick body. I was hoping for something from the nightclub so I declined, she was disappointed. She asked me for the overpriced sunscreen I bought in Bangkok, cost more than the massage - and she was again disappointed when I didn't ive it to her.
I went to the nightclub at 22.00. It had about 25 girls - 20 to 30 years old, most of them slim and quite nice looking - and about as many customers. One lady I saw was young but very large - something for every taste, I suppose. Two ladies looked over 30. But the rest were very nice-looking indeed, pretty and slim, some you might call beautiful. The relatively modest outfits ranged from bikini-like coverage to one-piece swimsuit - not scant or near-naked like in Soi Cowboy Bangkok.
Drinks were inexpensive, even for the lady drinks. If you want to get a lady to talk to you, you can buy her one or more strings of flowers at 100B each while she is singing. When ordered, someone goes up to the stage and hangs them around her neck. Buy three or more and she will sing you a Thai pop song of your choice. Some ladies got perhaps 10 strands in one go.
The flowers take the place of lady-drinks: buy her flowers and she will come talk to you for awhile. This is your chance to negotiate if you want her to go with you. She is not required to go with customers, and prices may be a bit higher than you're used to.
At the table next to me, three Thai guys perhaps in their 40s shared a few bottles of brandy and bought lots of flowers for various girls, who came to talk to them. At one point one of them was giving the girls on stage 1000B notes, which he put into their tops.
As a lone farang, I was not expected to know the rules. I came in, chose a table and sat down. I was immediately joined by a modestly buxom lady who was lovely when she smiled, and she smiled a lot. I normally prefer petite or slim ladies, but her charm more than made up for her shape, which was not hard to look at anyway, plus her English was good. When it was my lady's turn to sing, another lady from the table next to mine suggested I should buy her 2 flowers, so I did. It was clear that my lady had set that up.
Would she go with me? I learned that girls who worked in the hotel bar were not allowed to visit customers in the hotel where the bar is! Crazy rule. That's the second reason I would not recommend staying there. The first is because the place sucks, detailed above.
When I asked about prices, she said she asks some customers for 20KB, like this other guy who was buying her flowers, competing with me. She said she did not like him because he was Muslim and didn't eat pork, and 20KB was a way to disuade him. (I proceeded to order bbq pork). For other customers she said she asks 3000B. She didn't make a specific offer to me, because she could not come to my room. She did get me to buy a total of 7 flowers for her, including a triple so she could sing a special song for me. Since she spent 2 hours entertaining me, it seemed reasonable to buy her flowers.
I learned a bit about the finances of her job. She makes 8000B per month, for which she is expected to work every day for five hours, with one day off per month. Additional missed days are deducted at the rate of 2000B per day. The flowers, which cost 100B each strand, go 50-50 between the company and the lady. She is expected to land 50 flowers every two weeks. Falling short of quota costs her 50B for each in the shortfall. I did not ask, but I think there is no bar fine. She is not required to go with customers and can charge anything she wants and keep it all. She's a student by day.
The club closed early, at midnight, because of a Buddhist holiday the next day. She asked me to go bar-hopping with her. We went to Crazy (near Soi 11), which had a pretty good Thai band, and then O2 (a good bit further north), a disco I liked more than most. She did not want to take me to her place, too small for visitors. She suggested a room at City Hotel, but I told her I had not brought money to pay her. She took me to the city park and we chatted, cuddled. I had her zipper down and hands in pants when a police car went by with its searchlight shining at us, but he didn't stop. At 3AM she dropped me off at Thai Hotel, kissed me, didn't expect any money.
While I didn't get laid, she got "lei-ed," by me 7 times, heh. For less than 1000B including drinks at Crazy and O2, it was a lot of fun and gave me everything I could want except, of course, actual sex. In that sense it is the perfect GFE, eh? I could have had sex if I wanted to pay the price, and rented another hotel room, but for Night 4 I'll be at Geylang in Singapore, and I can wait until then. Paying her would have established the relationship as customer/provider, whereas now it could be more like girlfriend, with more time.
Crazy, O2, Nellie's, etc are clubs for local young adults to party in. Some of her co-workers went there to dance afterwards, but I don't think you'd go there to find hookers.
Summary
Don't go to Krabi Town or Ao Nang expecting better prices than Bangkok. There are, however, reasonable options with a bit of digging, just not as many choices. I liked Krabi Town, and there are a number of things to do, especially if you like beaches or diving, but also sights with natural beauty and vivid cultural experiences.
Yasothon Sex + Ubon troubles
yasothon sex (a little bit) - and isaan life (a lot)
after a 900 baht worth of "socialising" with a viet chick (so beautiful that i hadn't seen in kambo for ages) in sawannakhet (lao town), i crossed the mekong at mukdahan, thailand. my plan was to take the bus to yasothon. why yasothon? well, because it is sort of "end-of-the-world" place, bit of a break from human society as we know it.
****bus gets sick****
turned out there is no direct bus from mukdahan to yasothon but have to break the journey in amnat charoen and then change to another bus. piece of cake, it seemed. the nice aircon bus left mukdahan on time. about 10 kms outside of town the motor started having some problems and soon it completely stopped. the driver and a couple of other thai men started playing around with it but soon gave up, it was beyond help. not to worry, the replacement bus would be here soon, we were advised. me being the only farang on board, approached the driver just to make sure what was happening, in case they decide to leave me behind.
****bus goes again****
after about 40 minutes of wait another bus appeared. we all climbed on board. the last minute fortunately again i decided to approach the (new) busdriver. "are our bags transferred too?" bs. they were still in the old bus. so, i and some thai passengers ran back quickly to collect our bags and continue the journey. off we went again happily. however there were some problems. first of all, we originally paid for aircon but this bus was just plain ordinary type. on top of that it was already seriously overloaded with passengers even before the contents of our bus transferred. so it was pretty "squeezy", so to speak.
****amnat charoen****
one thai man complained and he got some of his fare back but i considered it hopeless trying to explain to uncooperative thais. anyway, we got to amnat charoen safely and managed to breathe some air again. this town must be one of the most remote regional centres. dirt-roads abound, and very down-to-earth simple people. it was quite fun actually to interact with them. they were so shocked to see a living farang thet some even failed to react. they thought they were dreaming. had to wait over an hour for the connection but chatted the time away with some peasants, itinerant bystanders and the toilet-woman. in turn as a benefit i got one turn to use of the restrooms for "free". plus practised speaking thai also free.
****yasothon town****
this bus was non-air again and very cheap, just a few bahts. in the back we had quite a good time with the thai peasants talking bs and smoking cheap tobaco. again, the landscape is remarkable, poverty stricken, basic but exotic and natural nearly like cambodia. yasothon does not even seem to have a bus station so we were just unloaded from the bus on the side of the street. it also must be some of the very few towns in thailand where you still get a trike ride for 10b, so i had to have a go. soon found two miserable hotels in the town centre and i picked the less miserable looking one. the room was okay, and for $7 you can't complain.
****rocket launch****
i paid again the trike 40b for a sightseeing trip around town. of course we had to go to the "rocket-launching field" which yasothon is famous for. there was no festival going on but the place is still impressive, with a large launch-pad resembling nasa space center. the driver told me stories of a couple of people dying every year from falling debris of misguided rockets. otherwise there is a nice park nearby and is quite scenic. so is the town. narrow little streets, dirt-roads, bicycles and trikes swerving around lots of stray pigs and chickens. and dogs of course. lots of them. so, walking around alone was out of question.
surprisingly there are also lots of farang men. indeed very unexpected but i had to conclude that the pattaya girls were pretty succesful in hooking men for their home-town. a couple of restaurants even had menu in english!
****the sex-bit****
evening came and i decided to take it easy, just reading and after then went to have supper at the night-market. as usual the wendors started out with groans and grunts like they normally communicate with "farang barbarians" and got very shocked by hearing a farang speak thai. this always amazes me. but truly, compared to the mass of total visitors those who take the trouble to learn to speak thai must be minuscule. most come for the beaches or the fuck and very few for the rural "culture". but of course in rural thailand there is lots of the "f" kind of entertainment as well, as it turned out soon.
hanging out in the lobby, noticed those large number of young and pretty girls coming and going to and from the rooms. all alone. i started to enquire at the receptionist guy and if i could have one for myself and for how much. he said 700 baht but with a facial impression indicating "is it too much? i can discount." the price was fine with me, instead of trying to save 2 dollars all i asked that he made sure the girl was pretty, slim and young.
****cute princess****
soon a cute little princess turned up. simple rural girl but quite pretty in jeans and sneakers. just like the ones you turn after on the streets of bangkok but can't get. she was a bit shy first but soon warmed up with "papa" and did all positions happily, even kissed. surely worth the 700baht and even a small tip. i mean i wasn't really hungry after a stretch of "meat-flood" in cambodia and laos but it is good to remember that you had a root in yasothon too.
and i did not had to sweet-talk anyone to get this pretty girl. i simply "purchased" her and this shows our male superiority over women. as long as we cooperate, we can get anything. but only as long. alone, fighting with other men? we are lost and easy prey to evil feminists. we are reduced to slaves and wankers. so, unite my brothers and share the meat among yourselves. say no to "femine brainwashing"!
-------------------------------------------------------
after a couple of days i continued on to the large town of ubon rachatani, which does have a frequent direct connection with yasothon. as it turned out dire consequences followed. but hey, you can't avoid your fate. you just have to deal with it.......

ubon rachatani troubles - isaan
****fat woman, great root****
arriving from yasothon, checked in to a hotel near to the 600b brothel area (see other posting). it was early afternoon but still decided to have a look what they have on display. only two miserable girls, one ugly and the other fat. the rest would come at 9pm so i was advised. i chose the fat one because i hate uglies. she wasn't quite so fat it turned out just heavily built and face even pretty. certainly she fucked very enthusiastically and with great fervour. okay for 600 b. time came for a shower again. she already cleaned herself and was doing her hair up in front of the mirror. i stepped out of the shower and there was some unevenness in the floor.
****the accident****
add some soap on it and sure recipe for disaster. i slipped and next thing i remember i was flat on the floor and feeling very light. kind of "not-in/not out". tried to get up but it was too hard to do. so decided just to lay still. it was comfortable. sort of apart from feeling my head very wet, obviously in a pool of water or something. i heard the girl screaming and running out. then more people came in and shouting in thai. i realized that i had no choices here but had to get up, no matter what. otherwise they gonna call the ambulance and vultures will be all over me in no time, trying to "save my life" (and guess who would have to pay for it...).
****nice cock....?****
fell back once but got up eventually, discovering with surprise that the growing pool of wetness under my head wasn't actually water.... i must have hit it on the edge of the shower cubicle pretty badly. but i was up eventually. a thai man ran there, pressing a white towel to the side of my brain and soon changing it to another one as it became too wet and red. everybody was shouting and all those people (including women) at the door looking at.....my cock! i was still naked, pretty red on one side but must have been an interesting sight.
*****thumb in bottom****
also, must have been because of the shock, i had a very strange feeling down there. my bowels became very loose and i had to run. i had to go so much that in desperation i stuck my thumb into my bottom hole as a plug, grabbed my pants with one hand and started shouting: "hong nahm yoo tee nai? hong nahm yoo tee nai?" (where is the toilet?) the thai man with the red towel pointed me into the vague direction and i ran. must have been a totally awesome sight, dashing away in front of the waiting customers, a half red, half white fat farang, shouting and running naked, with his thumb up his bottom. once there, got relieved in an instant and sort of the bleeding stopped too (maybe the pressure got released from inside?). same shit.
went back to examine the injury with the aid of two mirrors. it looked pretty horrible to me. even some grey matter popped out. i carefully pushed the brain inside, not to lose any. got dressed, washed basically and tipped the girl 100b which she did not want to accept. finally she took it, then left for a minute and came back with some bandage. they offered to take me to the hospital on company expense, which i refused. simply i hate vultures and dogs who take their living from the misery of other people. prefer to view doctors, cops and the like from a safe distance, at least the other side of the road. better to be dead than prey.
*****massage again****
i felt dizzy somewhat and my bandage got soaked red soon but still made it to a soapy massage fuck-parlour and sat down to watch the (beautiful) girls. didn't feel quite ready for another root though so opted for a therapeutic massage from another fat woman. (this one was really very fat). she put some newspapers under my leaking head, so i didn't mess up their furniture.
in the hotel i tied half a plastic shopping bag on my head with some electricians tape and had a good sleep. morning came and again with two mirrors i examined the hole and decided that it was too big to heal on it's own. it needed stitching. balancing two mirrors and a sewing set proved impossible to manage with merely two hands, so it had to be done by a doctor, i decided finally. fuck, money down the drain!
*****thai hospital****
got a moto to the nearest private hospital. service totally awesome. no waiting. fill in forms, asking about insurance (none), etc. i was in the operating theater within ten minutes, the nurses taking turns in commenting how serious the injury looked, while me forced to lie flat on some sterile looking table. i also noticed another farang being pushed in on a wheelchair. then soon another one, being rolled in with drips hanging on him. wow, so many farang in this town. all sick today?
the doctor (a brain surgeon) appeared soon and tried to sell me the following products and services: 1. x-ray brainscan 2. tetanus shot 3. antibiotics all of which i graciously declined, just insisting that he sew the fuck all up and i get out of there. reasoning that if i lose my money, life becomes pretty dim and funless so i better die with money still in my pocket. which he being a thai of course appreciated.
*****2000 baht++****
fifteen minutes later, all sewed up i walked out. lighter with 2000 baht in the pocket. and that was only so "little" because i refused all the extra services. slept well for the next couple of days, staying put in ubon. was still dizzy for a few days, and it was hard to concentrate my eyesight on anything. then on the third day i went back to root one more girl from the same brothel (not the fat one this time). the thai man and the mamasan seemed quite pleased to meet again. then after seven days a little clinic took out the stitches in buriram.....for 50baht.
lesson: you get great service in a thai private hospital. but you have to watch everything they try to put on your bill and all the treatments you receive. it is done to serve them, and not you. just like at any hospital in the world really. it's not about thais, but rather about hospitals and doctors and similar vultures.
