I have read approx 3 months' posts but all are focused on price, girls available and delivery of services. No one has, to my knowledge, addressed practical issues such as what happens after you have chosen a girl? Is sauna actually part of anything?

1) DongSen club corner of Cuiyu lu and Guyang lu in Gubei. Exact address is not important as you won't even be able to get up the elevator unless they know you are coming. As I understand, this used to be a public sauna many years ago, in fact one of the locals I took there recently had been there maybe 10 years ago with his wife. The building is some sort of medical services.
* service / price ratio is 2nd to none (at least none I have seen). The 'standard' offering is 880 RMB (just up from 850 RMB) and the selection at that price is simply outstanding. There are two upgraded categories, 1380 RMB and 1980 RMB. I once tried the 1380 RMB offering and see no reason to repeat. Especially considering you can get two of the 880 RMB for 1300 RMB!
* security: until very recently I would have said it is completely safe. However as others have pointed out, the LE has been especially tough recently. I was there on a Friday night some weeks ago and the session was cut short due to an impending visit from the LE. The good thing is they are connected enough to know well in advance and we had plenty of time to get dressed and out. FYI, this is one time my Chinese skills (or lack thereof) worked in my favor. My girl had a hard time telling me what was going on and instead of kicking me out, she managed to finish a rushed session. I had been upset and planned to complain to Tony (English speaking manager) until I realized what was going on and now regret I didn't leave her a tip.
* clean: there is only one close second in this out of all the places I have been to.
* volume: although Friday and Saturday nights can be busy (and during the recent crackdown I got the feeling that since they were one of the few places open, they were much busier than normal), I found it extremely easy to develop a quick relationship with Tony and thus ensure I am well cared for whenever I go. This of course is relative based on how busy they are. But he always find time to personally look after me.

Then, typically, the sequence of events are:
1) She leads you through a maze to a room.
2) Asks you if you want anything to drink.
3) Leaves the room (whether you want a drink or not).
4) Returns with her kit (oil, condoms, cleaning supplies, etc.).
5) Disrobes.
6) Tells you to lie on your stomach.
7) Begins a catbath (or massage).
8) Tells you to flip over.
9) Begins a BBJ or BBBJ.
10) Installs a condom.
11) Saddles up for 30 sec of CG.
12) Says she's tired and lets you do the rest of the work.

Even though some saunas advertise sessions of up to 90 minutes, I often sense the girls were getting tired after a while, especially if they were the one doing the riding. I usually asked if they were tired. Most times they would gamely say no and continued. By the 50 minutes mark, I would tell them it was alright, that I had a good time, and I did not always need to have a happy ending. I then showered with them and thank them and take my leave. I know they will have to service others after me and I did not want to extract the last minute of a session, especially now that I learned they work up to a 14 hours day. To press on when a girl was truly tired would be brutish and not British.

Thanks![/QUOTE]Definitly no "real" Sauna involved! I saw one "sweat room" one time in the second branch of the Pattaya sauna, but never ever will be really in use!
So here the main steps of your sauna visit (Excerpt from our Sauna FAQs).
When you enter the sauna, all will know what you are looking for, so just will bring you to the locker room (some saunas will not have a public locker room, than you just take of clothes in the massage room).
You will get a bracelet with a number, also used for open and close the locker.
Now you change dress to a short and veste, than they will guide you to the shower room (If the sauna has nuru, they provide shower facilities in the massage room, so no need for a public shower now).
Next you will be guided to a relaxing room, where there will be some sofa places for a rest while they prepare the selection for you and they will also offer free drinks there. (Sometimes they also will bring you directly to the girls selection).
Now a guy will bring you to the place where select the girl. Sometimes they are on a open stage, sometimes behind a "one side mirror", so you can see them, but they can not see you.
Now you select your girl. All girls there will have number plates, so just need to mention the number. Often on the plate you also will see their "level" (if they have different girls rates) like A, M, T or so for model or top model, sometimes also the rate will be writen there.
After you selected your girl, she will come to you and bring you to the massage room.
Than she will do the standard service procedure, if you not ask for some special service.
After the time is finished, she will bring you out and and another guy will take you over, to bring you to a final shower, if you want to leave or to the sofa room, if you like to relax or wait for your friends.
When you are ready to leave, they will bring you to the shower area for a final shower, if you like, if you don't like to shower, just refuse it.
Next you will come to the locker room, where you can change back to your own clothes.
After that they will bring you to the counter, where you show your bracelet, and with your number they can check which service or girls you booked, so they can show you the rate, you pay and leave.
I cannot really get things straight about the place. I found 2 different Chinese names for the place. One is 南28304;22269;38469;26705;25343;. The other Chinese name was in an ad from a Chinese website that did not allow copy and paste. Anyway the address, including the floor, is the same. But the price listed in the Chinese web site was lower. It was 830 rmb instead of the 930 when I was there. I do not know if it was because I did not call ahead of time, as the Chinese site said the lower price was with reservation instead of walk-in.
I mentioned that the girl I was with was only ok in looks, but the Chinese website listed 4 classes of providers: with prices from 830 to 1880. And from the photos (if real) the high end girls are gorgeous. So maybe I just had a girl from the entry level group. But the high end girls seem pretty pricey, and I am rather leery when a place goes by several names. Anyone else has a different take?

You really don't do the girls a favor, if you leave without even one finished shot! Most sauna girls feel guilty and like "loosers", if you leave without the happy ending, so they apprechiate a lot, if you "help them" to come to a happy end for you! And finish for yourself while she stroke or lick you balls or she play with your little sister to turn you on can be a great feeling, especially compared with go home "unsatisfied"!

Guidance appreciated![/QUOTE]I have walked the girl straight through the lobby without a problem. Worse case, I have had to sign her in. All these girls carry I'd in case of such an issue. Never had a problem.
The only time I ever had an issue was when a girl was with me and it was her second time to that hotel that night (coincidently). The hotel told me if they signed her in they had to notify the police as she was probably a working girl.
I sent her away with taxi money and called it a night. Had I chosen earlier in the night I could have avoided this but it is what it is.

Different to other Chinese cities, here no one in the hotel care who come to the rooms (at least most time).
Officially there is a rule, that guest who stay in the room late evening have to be registered as guest, and also a restriction, that starting from 11 pm it is not allowed to register new guest to a room. In practice, however, no one continues this rule here in Shanghai, if there is not a special "order" for that. In Shanghai we have normally different "alert" levels for that.
- Around 350 days a year we are on "green alert". That means almost every hotel will tolerate girls come with guest or alone all around the day and night.
- Sometimes (especially around official holidays or important events of the communist party here in Shanghai) the hotels will be advised to register the guest, we call that "yellow alert". Than mostly the 5 star hotels and some of the 4 star hotels will ask girls who enter the hotel after 10 or 11 pm to register as a guest to the hotel room and for that they need to show their passport. That would actually be no problem, because till now I never heard about any case where a girl got problems because of that (and many girls just will do it), but often there will come up one of this two problems: First, many girls don't take their passport or I'd with them, so no way to do that, so they have to leave. Second, several girls will avoid to register, because all this information will be finally collected by the police, so it would be easy for them to check their database and suspect, who could work as a prostitute, just because the girls registered in different hotels together with different guys in a short time. So this girls also will leave, even they would have an ID available!
- Sometimes the hotel will be advised to really follow the rule. In this "red alert" time, it will be impossible in nearly all hotels here in the city to bring a girl in late night. In that time many 3 or 4 star hotels even will refuse to accept western customers as guests. That normally happens not more than 3 to 5 days a year, for example last year while the Asian CICA Conference has been hold here in May 2014, but can also be around official holidays, but for example this year while the spring festival the city was not even on "yellow level". A high risk for the "red level" are the days with official communist party events, especially when Xi Jin Ping or other "leaders" of the party will be in Shanghai. Obviously, the local government than want to show a "clean city".
At the moment there is nothing like that scheduled for the next weeks, so no need to worry about anything, it doesn't matter where you will stay!

Some of the local 4 stars don't care at all.
