hello, isg members,

i would really appreciate any words of wisdom you might have to share. i had a minor scooter accident an hour ago in pattaya with my rented motobike. the good news is that no one was injured, it wasn't a collision, i was just stupid and tried to ride in the side drainage area. anyways i walked away with a few scrapes and a bruised ego, but the bike has some damage, scratches on the side. it rides fine though.

i want to pay for it, but i don't want to be extorted for every penny i have. how should i go about dealing with the rental company? can anyone help?

tqq[/quote]i recommend finding a mityon shop that sells bikes and ask where their repair shop is. they are the big motorbike shops that usually say mityon. ask for a quote first. feel free to go to a few places for quotes but i doubt you'll need to. sometimes it's next door, other times it's across the street. you could always wash the bike first at a car wash or gas station so they can see all of the damage. i had a foreigner friend dump his bike and his total was 800 baht to replace the parts and free alignment. another person got hit by a car, was given false insurance and phone number info, and the total repair on a brand new bike was 2000 baht. i would assume your damage would cost 500-2500 baht.

If it is parts that need to be replaced Mityon can easily do that for you but if the side painted panels are scratch and damage (dented) then it will cost you more because it will have to be painted. Many times they already have the panels available and painted since it is very standard. But first take some water and clean the area off. If you have a sponge and some liquor soap with water just to scrub off some of the scratches if you can? Or take it to one of those car washes, bikes are normally 80 baht to have it washed and armor all and if you wanted it wax 100 baht total.

In the end, you can do as noted already and get a estimate and present it to the rental shop and even negotiate the price down since many if minior doesn't affect the running of the bike wouldn't even fix it. If the shop is very small and the bike doesn't have a lot of miles (KM) it is most likely on a payment plan and will end up a repo that goes back to Mityon and go on sale again?

1st. So the 1st thing I noticed in Pattaya was the traffic. After an hour drive from Bangkok airport to Pattaya, traffic was pretty awful but I survived. After settling in at my hotel, I took a long walk around Pattaya visiting Hard Rock Hotel, The Hilton as well as checking out the prospects on Soi 6.

2nd. The 2nd thing I noticed was a lot of older men and by a lot, I mean a lot! LOL. Pattaya almost has a senior citizen or retirement home kind of feel to it. Who can blame them though, Pattaya has a lot of girls that would want to take care of them.

3rd. The 3rd thing I noticed was a lot of homeless looking people and I mean a lot! It was pretty bad.

4th. The 4th thing I noticed was the number of European people! Mainly Russians and the British! I'm not saying any of this stuff is bad. Just wanted to set expectations for other first time mongers from the states.

The first thing I noticed when I got to Pattaya was all the girls. Many more girls than the people you are describing. Driving down Soi 6, walking around all the bars off 2nd road, all the girls outside the MP's, all the FL's on Beach Road, etc.

If you are focusing on the homeless, old people, and foreigners, you will probably have a bad time.

I am trying to make a reservation with Mr. T Taxi via email for this coming Saturday for a ride to Pattaya at 10:45. I did receive an email back asking for my last name, but then no real confirmation. Shall I assume I'm confirned? I sent two follow ups but haven't heard back. Any advice? Thanks.

This is the one part of Mr. T Taxi that is an issue with me and that is a confirmation email. I have used him many times in the past and have experienced this same issue. For me, I will resend it and even call to get that confirmation.

A number of more well-healed residents of the capital have fled down the coast. They say Pattaya's hotels are pretty much fully booked for this reason. The taxi driver who took me to the airport from Pattaya a few days back was moaning loudly about "all the bloody bangkokers".

As for the rest of your "reservations" about Pattaya, well, there's a lot of Russian people, but they come mostly with their wives / girlfriends for a few weeks on the beach. I don't think the men do much mongering and I don't think the women offer themselves for sale. The exception to the last point is a few joints around the Walking Street, but they are also by far the most expensive venues in town.

As for my own experience in Pattaya, well, I got laid around 15 times in a week, so I cannot complain about the recreational value of the place. I would, however, say that these things tend to get boring after a while."Hello, handsome maaaan!" "Massage, massage!" "Where you goooing?" Many Pattaya veterans have solved the problem by finding themselves a girlfriend who caters to their daily needs, but (1) I usually don't stay for long enough to do that; and (2) I haven't the temper to spend breakfast and dinner with a mercenary. Instead I found myself drifting into ordinary bars and restaurants and try to fish out those women who can usually not be bar-fined. Simply for the sport and curiosity value of it.

My greatest find was the 30 yo manager of a bar on 2nd road (close to Soi Diana). She was extremely petite and actually not pretty. After midnight and with her bar hastily emptying she agreed to join me for a drink. It didn't take much persuasion to make her forego the remaining tips and come with me to my nearby hotel (Tim Boutique). She was very hot in bed. Most Thai girls tend to fuck you once or twice and then turn over in bed,"I want to sleep. Leave me alone". With this lady it was the opposite. I could not move one inch in my sleep before she grabbed my hand and started snugging me. After a couple of rebuttals she even allowed me to use her rear entry. I say "allow" in the sense of lying still and whimpering while I thrust myself at her hole. By now she obviously decided that I had a domination fetich, so started to weep while I pumped her rear, although there was evidently space enough and she was far from a virgin. After five minutes of beautiful acting she even managed to produce tears. After I had exploded inside her fanny I pointed to her wet eyes and smiled "nice show, honey". She grinned mischievously behind the tears and whispered "but you liked it, yes?"

This was my best experience in Pattaya this time round. So good that, contrary to my habits, I went back to the same woman on the next night (my last in patts). But, alas, that night was Loy Kratong and the bar had a party from which my little backdoor friend could not detach herself. Ah well, better luck next time.
