Quite right! "Up to you" is hoping for a better than average deal. As I can speak Thai, they would know I am not a newbie though. So I believe they merely expect to be treated fairly.

The girl will mention the price if she is not excessively shy and has any concern at all that she might not get her going rate, and especially if her minimum rate is higher than average. Some girls are just pleased to get a customer. Others are real busy. So it is falacious to think every girl will be happy with the same amount.

I don't say everyone should go with "up to you" but it works O.K. for me as I pay more than fairly and good performers are always happy.

I also can speak Thai, not fluently, but enough to be understood on everyday life and P4P matters.

I never kiss a Thai girl in public and I'm quite discreet in my approach. I usually whispers my questions in one of their ears. If I have to make an offer first, I will take into account several parameters (her looks, her attitude, what is on the menu, etc.) after my short interview, and not only the average going rate in the venue or area.

If the girl directly states a price that I know being the regular rate, I still can offer some incentives for things that I consider being "extra service" and give her a good tip at the end of our session if she deserves it.

i recently visited two thai go-go bars in sutthisan, as well as peered in the doors of several others. one was the large and luxurious rainbow bar, which was not of course really my style. it had a big crowd on a weeknight and lots of very pretty girls. price quoted was the standard 1,500 for short time. the girls here are far better looking than the norm in the farang areas, but of course i cannot speak to the service as 1,500 is too expensive for me. however if you like very tall slim girls they can be found here, which is something i rarely see any other place. some girls are tattooed, some not, but at least very few fatties.

we also checked out a much more basic, smaller, lower end place across the street, which charged the same price for beers and girls (a large beer with ice for two people will end up billing you about 140-170 baht, even though the beer itself is usually only 90 baht). this lower-end or rougher looking place had a much better atmosphere and the girls looked better - by that i mean rougher and more drug-addled, and thus one might presume more amenable in the bedroom. they were however still much better looking than anything i normally see in the farang go-gos. (to clarify it is true that i never go inside farang gogos, but i do sometimes walk down pantpong, soi cowboy, and walking street and look at who is taunting at the door, or peek inside the door).

i have to say though, that there was some feeling of risk at establishments in the area, solely because i was the only farang present anywhere. at the rainbow gogo, a very tense and taught looking thai man who was sitting alone drinking a bottle of wiskey did look at me a long time and with an expression of hatred. i'm not used to agression, as my profound weakness makes attacks upon me ignoble, but in this case i think he just hated to see 'one of them' infiltrating. it came to nothing of course.. just an uncomfortable moment.

there are many small and i'll bet reasonably prices short time hotels in the area, and my thai companion agreed that for the quality, 1,500 was very reasonable. reasonable, but alas far beyond our budget that night, so i cannot report on the actual service.

Well, it isn't always that simple. Don't forget we aren't dealing with "Appliances" but human beings.

I have taken BG7 girls before and also got the "up to you" answer. For most girls, this is a very competitive environment (often more girls than punters) so they do not want to lose out on a sale because they quote what they consider to be a high price.

You see, BG7 has a lot of very stingy customers and many of them would run away from a girl quoting 1000 for ST. To avoid losing business, the girls often ask customers "how much you can pay?" to evaluate where the customer sees "her" price-wise. If the customer quotes a price (lower than what she expects) it gives her the opportunity to accept the offer without the customer walking away.

Now, what I do in BG7 and with freelancers, I always offer 500 for ST with a promise of 500 tip if the service is very good. this eliminates the "I not smoke, no Daty" providers, because then they know they won't get a tip.
It usually woks great because the girl knows she needs to work hard for the extra 500.

That's a good approach too... but in some cases, you could get a lousy performer who does not deserve even your 500 baht minimum offer (despite your incentive)! If you read thoroughly my previous messages on this topic, you will see that I'm not close-minded and that I may make an offer first too after a short interview (which usually clarifies what will be on the menu). It works well for me.

"Up to you" to me means "Yes, lets work on details".
It then depends on the girls and lots of other things, some covered by MP Lurker.
I try not to get into extended negotiations the first time, especially if i like the girl (chemistry) and if she is young and has limited English. I try to pay the going rate plus tip and taxi and discuss LT if i want later. If she has a baby or lives with parents, LT an options, at least the first time but an extended daytime session for later interaction is almost always an option.

I am back from my trip and the two days in Bangkok.

Below is a review of my experiance.

I landed at 11:00am and was at the hotel by 1:00pm. I checked in and went to the pharmacy on Soi 11 for some Cialis and other supplies at 7-11. I then returned to the hotel, showered and ventured out to Bier Garten. Sat there for a while and was approached by several girls. Nothing caught my fancy so I moved on to the GoGo bars at Soi Cowboy area. After a couple of drinks here, I went to a massage place called De Luxury on Soi 19 that I had read about before going to Bangkok. I was shown an album and I made my selection. The girl arrived and led me by hand to a nice room with a spa tub. She undressed me and asked me to sit on the bed, giving me a cold glass of Thai tea. She then proceeded to fill the tub with water. I was then led to the tub and washed thoroughly. She helped me out and dried me. Then she asked me to lay on the bed so she could start the massage. After I lay down, I noticed her remove her sarong style skirt. And then she proceeded to massage me. She certainly did not mind my wandering hands. She did however ask me to relax and enjoy the massage, assuring me I will have a lot of time for fun. After the massage, the tub was filled with warm water again and the jets were started this time round she undressed and joined me. This is where the fun began. She dfk'd and the fun began. We then got out, dried off and continued the fun on the bed.

I left this place after almost two and a half hours, totally exhausted. Back to the hotel and fell asleep.

I got up after a couple of hours and headed to "Long Beach" which is another upscale massage place. When I walked in, I was faced with an array of beauties (about 50) sitting on red carpetted steps. I was approached by this guy who informed me that there were these ladies and also "model types" in another room. I opted for the model and went to the other room. I picked a girl who was absolutely gorgeous. Another couple of hours of fun.

At around 11:00pm, I headed Concept CM2. I stayed there for about an hour and did not see anything I liked, so headed for the Climax club (which happened to be next door to my hotel). After paying my entrance fee, I was escorted in by hand by this gorgeous looking hostess. She took me to quiet area and sat me down, ordered my drink and then left. After a while I got up and walked around to check out the talent. I was standing watching the live band when I felt an arm around me. I looked around and it was the hostess. I ended up going back to my hotel with her. She left at noon the next day.

Man! I cannot wait to go back for longer.
