Getting out of Tijuana without SENTRI / current passport?
Hey all,
I've been trying to read and catch up with posts about crossing the border. I'm completely aware that you can cross into Tijuana with basically no form of ID and they're not checking. Back the other way is different though, obviously in the good ol USA.
I do not have a SENTRI card, and I'm under the knowledge they take a while to get. I have a passport, but it's expired. I have a valid driver's license, but not from a border state (from New England).
Now obviously I can get a SENTRI card or renew my passport, but both of those take a while. I was hoping to get down to Tijuana next week during my forced vacation days.
Has anyone got through the border with just their state driver's license? Or an expired passport? Is it simply not worth the risk of what could happen (what could happen at worst?)
Thanks guys, stay safe.
Border line more organized
There is now a rope along the sidewalk all the way back to the taxi drop off that leaves the previous lanes open for Sentri and for anyone entering Mexico. The Ready lane and General lane now curve to the left under the curvy bridge and stay along the wall until where the entrance steps used to meet the line. Seemed more practical to keep those entering Mexico from having to cross through those leaving. Plus it left the Sentri Lane entirely empty. The line yesterday morning at 11am was maybe an hour, today at the same time, it was 2 hours.
