Well, thank you for spending your time to spy my posts in the forum and review my activity in the photo threads. The probability of infection with HIV from a heterosexual non-safe is about 0.04% for female-to-male and 0.08% for male-to-female encounter BUT: 1) the probability is always there, 2) it is not only about HIV, there are other STDs with a greater probability of infection from non-safe sex.

The doctors do quite correctly tell you to protect yourself no matter how low you might perceive the risk. They are NOT spreading paranoia they are NOT lieing. They are simply doing statistics.

Lets do some basic scenario analysis. Lets assume we a have an essentially uncureable disease with results in death (OK, not in the developed world anymore but HIV is still bad).

Scenario A) You have a population where infection rate is low (maybe 1/10000). If people protect themselves to the point that the disease cannot spread anymore, the problem disappears. Number of death is low. Individual risk is low. Public damage is low.

Scenario B) Same as above. You have a population where infection rate is low (maybe 1/10000). But people don't protect themselves because "The individual risk is low at a 1/10000 infection rate". In this case the disease WILL spread. Infection rate will go up. I WILL become a major risk to fuck without protection eventually. People will notice when infection rate has reached 1/100 or higher (high enough so they personally know infected people). But by now the public damage will be enourmous.

Conclusion: "The individual risk is low a 1/10000 infection rate" argument is stupid. Because its your PERSONAL risk right NOW. But you forget about the risk to society.

Conclusion: If the disease is spreading and deadly, is is ALWAYS correct for doctors to ask for protection no matter how low or high the infection rates is right now. The infection rate will become high quickly no matter how low it starts.

Hi friends, I'm newly registered and an endorsement of protected sex seems like a reasonable first post. For the study, Yang and her colleagues examined the prevalence of HIV, syphilis and hepatitis C virus (HCV) in a sample of 600 male clients of female sex workers in three urban areas in Sichuan province, China. Blood test results indicated that HIV prevalence was 1. 5 percent; 5. 3 percent were positive for syphilis and 8. 7 percent positive for HCV. The overall prevalence of consistent condom use with female sex workers was 30 percent. The study also found a significant correlation between syphilis infection among male clients and not having local household registration, snorting heroin and washing genitals after having sex with a female sex worker.

"Our data raises concerns about the future heterosexual transmission of HIV to the general population in China since unprotected sex with female sex workers has become the norm," said Kenrad Nelson, MD, senior author of the study and professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the Bloomberg School of Public Health.
