Hi all.
What are the main difference between M1 and M2 (pros / cons) and the various room types?
I know there was a thread in here discussing all the different rooms available at the mansion but I can't seem to find it anywhere (and yes I have tried searching) .

The difference is that M1 has a pool and a bar and girls hanging out whereas M2 does not have any of these attributes but that also makes M2 more tranquilo.

I found the M2 pool to be much larger with more exposure to the sun than the M1 pool with lots more space around it than the tiny M1 pool. True, M2 doesn't have the bar you have to walk a few minutes to M1 for that. Here's some pics of the smaller M1 pool. Geo.
Geolopes makes a good point on the pools. The pool at M1 could be good if they left it uncovered so the sun could warm it up. However, they don't do that and the water is just too cold too enjoy. IMO it's almost unusable (though it's a good prop for photos). The pool at M2 is larger and uncovered all day long, so it's much warmer and actually enjoyable to swim in.

Just goes to show how much they think of there guests.
Agreed with Geolopes. I stayed at the M2 (Castillo) in March. The M2 pool is bigger and has better sunlight. But, the chicks don't hang out at this pool. The M1 pool is much livelier, with the girls hanging around it, taking a dip or drinking around. Next trip, I will try to get an M1 room for sure. I can't wait to get back Though, am not sure when would that trip happen.

It has been quite a few years since I have been to M1 and have never stayed at M2,only visited my wingman who was staying there. Old age is getting to me, LOL.
Does the mansion still have parties organized on US holidays? Wonder if there was anything on this memorial day weekend (Any pics? I am thinking of going to MDE for the 4th of July weekend if my vacation plan works out and stay at the mansion.
First time venturing out of my comfort zone and trying something different.
I'm fortunate that work has taken me through most of SE Asia, S America, CR, etc.
Colombia always had my attention but I never had a business purpose to visit. One finally came up and I jumped.
I stayed at M2 and in retrospect, was glad I did.
It was exactly as I expected with great staff and close proximity to M1. The other guests were a great time and were more than willing to help walk me through the basics. How many times have we all done that over the years? Was good to be the newbie in a new city on the receiving end of some help.
Food, rooms, service, daily laundry, easy access stocked kitchen with drinks (for purchase) if you run out of beer, water, soda, vodka, etc.
WIFI was excellent. Forgot the name of the night manager but he was spot on spending time with the guests and making recommendations.
I wouldn't think twice about staying there again. In fact, now that I think of it, I'm staying there this weekend!

Quick question for some of you veterans. I have heard that there is a bar called the cave or something in M1. Could someone shed some light on some of the "activities" that go on there? Is it like the upstairs disco at blackbeards?

You can order drinks just like at a regular bar. You meet the girls in the bar area, get to know them a bit, then invite them upstairs for some fun. The bar is connected to an open-air terrace as well, so the girls can step outside the bar area to smoke in the little side-terrace area. After around 6 or 7 pm, the music comes on and you can dance with the girls if you want. The downstairs bar doesn't even open up until around 6 pm at the earliest.
Oh, and there are no "activities" that occur in the bar, except perhaps chatting, drinking, smoking, and dancing. That's it.
