For a change I am planning to stay at the Marco Polo hotel. Do they want to register girls accompanying me at night? Some hotels have started to check the girls ID (like Nikko hotel) and in my eyes this is an intrusion into my privacy which I don't like and so I don't book them anymore.

Can't go wrong in HKG in my opinion. It's just the cost of everything that sucks. Apart from the Star Ferry!

I don't think it is so unreasonable if you look from the hotel POV. It is also often done for the security of the guest himself. And of the other guests.
Indigo hotel is a brand new hotel near the Wanchai market. On one side is a fairly new building and on the other side a very very old building. This is on Queens Road East.
Taking the east exit from the hotel, walk towards the stalls you can see further away on the street. If you hit Queens Road East (QRE) , then you are going the wrong way.
Once you pass by all the stalls, you can see the tram line on Johnston road. Turn right and there is a crossing nearby. Cross and you will see the Wanchai MTR. Keep walking and you will see an escalator going up which you take and will take you to the overhead walkway over Hennessy Road. Take the first exit on your left and you will be on the tail end of Lockhart road where all the bars are. Note there is a KFC near the tram line. (DH's love KFC so who knows whom you might meet)
Nearby your hotel, you have the Wanchai market where you can pick up all sorts of delicious fruit. Cross the street if you desire a Subway sandwich. Down QRE you have the round Hopewell Centre where you have a McD's, Starbucks, and a supermarket to buy all your provisions. There is a revolving restaurant at the top that used to be inexpensive (US10 for a cup of coffee) , but last I have seen its been taken over by some French chef and I am sure all the inexpensive prices no longer applicable. Worth checking out. Linked by an overhead with Hopewell is another building across the street with a couple of car dealerships. That building, I believe is filled up with lots of restaurants.

They are not really competition or a problem and are on an early curfew so most of the night is left to the ordinary punter. They like their drink as well and can have a good time without scooping up all the available girls!
Can say that when the Navy is in town, that every lady becomes a Hooker!
The guy who has 2000 to spend on a hotel. Also try Novatel in Wanchai. In Lockhard Road about 300 metres from the action.

I am planning a trip on 1st Oct to 10th Oct in HK, Dongguan & Guangzhou. Could seniors please guide me about the mongering scene during these National day Holidays & Most happening place in CP with maximum number of girls to choose from. You help is much appreciated. I couldn't take a decision because of these holiday times.

Re the Lockhart Road bars, this guy makes it sound like the Angeles City of Hong Kong:

"If this culture existed only outside the hotel, maybe I could have coped as I was only there for 2 days, but it spread into the hotel and often I would have the same offers made to me in the elevator or lobby.

HK is easy and the spots are talked about and you can get by with English and hand signals.
CP & Dongguan & Guangzhou spots are talked about and there are some people who advertise their unique tourist guide services. Better (and safer) if one speaks, or is with someone who speaks, a little of the local language.

(I suspect I certainly would if I wore 4 inch heels!) It all depends how much one has to drink, if one needs to clear the big head first, and if one wants to spend US$3 to get down to the the main event quickly. I personally take a taxi to Victoria.
Heard the Cosmo has tiny rooms and would require a taxi unless one prefers the tram. Never been inside the Indigo but the walk is safe but not very romantic as it requires walking through a wet market. Novatel is about 1K easy walk and one can see the other punters walking to or from hotels with the ladies in arm or following a respectful distance behind.

Many guys have been rolled in the TST hotels. There is the occasional OD; even at the nearby Victoria. If a hotel has key card access to mall level, it is easy to get an obvious hooker in.
Security in hotels. To the guy lakeside. First. Which Marco Polo Hotel?. Prince / Gateway / HK. They are all in the same road in TST. You need to tell us which one! And as boarer says there are ways around the key card issue. Meet at mezzanine level, meet outside and pass on keycard, etc.
Actually I was at the Intercontinental Grand Stamford last night. Suddenly there was a knock at the door. The guy looked through the keyhole and told me it was a lady looking for business. So I suppose key cards maybe OK. And the guy was staying in a suite.
