Was talking to a girl I met off one of the dating sites and she tells me most of her friends are mainly using Tinder now. I have not heard a lot of feedback here about Tinder in the Philippines. It is extremely popular with the 20+ generation in Australia. But how would it work in Philippines. You would have to put your address as the Philippines otherwise you would not appear in a Filipino girls swipe list? Anyone using it?

It runs from your facebook and automatically searches the location where you are with your device at the present moment. Only if you pay for it then can you alter the location.

You can exchange updated pics when you switch over from the dating app to a chat app to talk.

I was merely commenting on my observation that the same girls were still there with the same profile and pics.
A couple of the really hot ones still have their same pics too after 3 years so no doubt they are doing very well out of the pinalove business model. I know one girl listed in Makati is a high class call girl with her own apartment so obviously she uses PL as an option for the slow days. There is no way you can tell her real profession from her profile EXCEPT when you see her classy expensive clothes and shoes and the background is quite lush. Only when you start chatting with her do you get the sales spiel.
These girls rely on newcomers to the sites to hit them up and establish contact (as Mr E says). Regular observers like me just click on past the old tried and true ones.
I think a lot of guys must start chatting online with girls much too early before they come to the Philippines.
I have had several girls in the past week express surprise (and then delight) to know that I am ACTUALLY in Manila right now.
Upon further discussion, these girls all said that most guys online all talk about meeting them some vague time "in the future" and that rarely happens, so the girls get really disillusioned about all the hollow and fake promises that they are given.
My advice would be for guys to be really low key in initial chats. If you have a definite date for your visit then tell them when (no need to be too exact. Like early in May or last week in June is OK) and they will be OK. Even better advice is to contact them a day or so before leaving home with an "I'll be there next week" line. Even better still, wait until you're in your hotel room and then hit up your random targets with a "I am here in Makati / Malate / Pasay / Davao / Cebu now and I wonder if we could meet".
Chances are they will drop everything and meet you within the hour (or two!

Actually being in the country is a huge bonus and sometimes the girls don't believe it. There are so many keyboard warriors living out their fantasies through the chat rooms just to wake the next morning and go to their day job that will never take them to RP.
I find that 1-2 weeks is enough time. The key questions to determine are the girls players or newbies, in the city they say, not ladyboys and can actually communicate.
There is one girl operating on Pinalove Pampanga that I made the mistake of adding and giving my cp#. Her entire conversation once she had my number was something like "Meet up? "Let's meet" etc.
I do think though that it does take more than a week to get down to the subset of girls that will be good. More than two week and the conversation runs out.

There must be 100's of guys who use the opportunity to engage in fantasies through chats with women online in order to say things they could never or have never said to a woman in person.
From what I am told, so many guys spin amazing tales and make all manner of promises about meeting up etc and then, after a week or two, they disappear never to be heard from again.
It makes the online women very wary and skeptical on one hand but, on the other, when they know they have a "live" warm body actually in the country they get all enthusiastic.

Some good points here. I don't disagree with you or BD but I have some caveats. Just looking at things from the overseas guy point of view as opposed to your ex-pat status.
I don't promise a meeting at some "vague" time unless I really like the gal. But, it will be vague. I prefer not to meet a gal at the airport.
As for online communication, I ask at least one question in every post. I might tell her about my day / work / situation, and include a question. A common, yet unfortunate reply is, "I'm fine, how about you?
Asking two questions might be a better strategy, since you might get one answer. Short or superficial responses from her might mean a busy girl, or might mean a poor education, or a lack of interest. One word answers are common and that often means I've lost interest.
And I often take your advice about a message to the gal when I'm in 'her' location. This has worked fantastically well at times. But I've also received the response, "in province", or a week later, "I had no load". If she has no load, you can always call. In a few cases I sent a twenty peso load to her phone just to see what would happen. Results were mixed.

I've noticed a lot of profiles the girls say they are "simple" - what does that actually mean?
Also, a lot say "accept me for what I am" - is this saying they are ladyboys, or something else?

They are saying they are just a normal every day type person, maybe only high school educated, work an entry level job, etc.
Tijuana has already given you a good answer to the "simple" question. I once asked the same question. If I recall, the answer I got was that the family is fairly poor. But you can see the "humble" behavior even among wealthier Asians. I once hear a Japanese woman say something like, "Here, these cookies are not very good, but I baked them for you."
As for your second question, it's easy to think that the "accept me" comment is some kind of hint about something odd or different. It's not.

Used as a description of a perceived female virtue. In the Phils especially, many men are seen to prefer a "simple" woman who has not had too much sexual experience with other men. However, bear in mind that a scheming woman obviously can lie, and can falsely claim that she is simple. Don't automatically believe the printed word. Be benevolent, but keep your powder dry.
"Accept me for what I am" almost always code for transgender (LB).

They could very well be the most faithful and caring person a man could ever hope to meet. Certainly continue the conversation.

[/QUOTE]For me, this 'usually' means ladyboy, if in doubt just ask. It can also mean that they have kids, elderly parents, cannot change their life.
These could also just be a comments they have have copied from another profile. Just ask questions and converse. They are just simple girls.
I will often have some conversations and mis-understandings with filipina. Remember that maturity is different. Consider deducting 5-6 years from their physical age to determine their emotional age. So a 20 year old filipina has the emotional / relationship age of a 15 year old. She basically will not have the emotional resource or experience to deal with some of the issues we present. If in doubt ask her what are her favourite movies and past times.

This topic came up on the board previously and I took it upon myself to ask a sample of women what they meant by it.
Every one of the 12 who responded were 100% women with kids, and the pics were obvious too.
10 of the 12 said that "accept me for what I am" means that they are a woman with kids and so they are saddled with that responsibility.
Six of them also said they used it because they saw it used by others.
One said she used it because she was single and "old" (she was 36).
I just did a very quick search on pinalove, and in 10 minutes I saw the phrase used in 5 separate profiles by women who also said they had kids, were looking for "serious" and were clearly well-domesticated in their responses. They were also older women (more than 30).
I have my profile set to block lady boys so I don't need to deal with that problem.
One comment in profiles that always makes me laugh is "I love to cook and clean the house".
They are obviously targeting a specific profile of potential male partners.
