The overwhelming majority of accidents involve motorcycles, you know how many wrecks there are and you know what the survival rate is for a highway or mountain road crash on a bike.
I have ridden a bike in Medellin but only on surface streets, I would never ever hit the autopista or some windy mountain road on one. Those are scary enough in a car!

Those are scary enough in a car![/QUOTE]You should try an unpaved, unlit (save for headlights) windy, rocky mountain road at night with fog, water crossings and sometimes only enough space for one vehicle. This was about 9 hours into a 12 hour trip from Cali to Mocoa. Fuck me I'll never do that again. The only good part about that night is it was dark so I couldn't see the steep drop off to a certain early end to my mongering career. After that Medellin streets and even the autopista are a piece of cake.
But yes, plenty of moto riders here get killed all the time. If it's outside a person's comfort level there's nothing wrong with the metro or a taxi.
Every one who wants to talk about this please go to the Harley forum. Sometimes I don't know understand how theres so many post that get offtopic doesn't really bother me, but 10 post on weaving bikes is overkill. Jaja. Anyway it actually amazes me also when in Colombia that there isn't a 1000 crashes a day, I tend to just go with the flow when seeing all this craziness. Either way I've seen many hotties on these crotch rockets. Maybe there just so adept at driving them, they have no choices for transportation. Hell if I lived there year round I'd probly get one also.

Not really, Ive been showing people Medellin/Colombia for the last 8 years. I think BBB "Boyd" would have issue with that too and a few other gringos who have been showing people around Medellin before C.J.
Hotel Casa Blanca airport pickup is 70,000 pesos and drop off is 65,000 pesos, normal taxi if you walk outside immigation and just hop in one is 55,000p or close to it, Fernando charges 30,000p per hour showing people around Medellin, mostley at night.

After travelling back and forth for the better part of a couple of years, I have made my final trip. Really not liking the Colombia scene much anymore. Everyone is so self-centered and quite honestly, I find the prices far too high for the quality. As a matter of fact, I had a hard time finding a decent restaurant. At least one that wasn't a fucking beef shack. If you like beef. Go nuts. But all the greasy, fatty, fried food (mostly fast foods) are tiresome.
I was dating a girl names Maria Camila (won't name her last name) and got tired of the pressures to get married and get her and her family a visa as well. That's about the extent of the existance of most colombian women. Find a guy (or guys) to take them out and pay for everything becuase most don't work and their families have nothing. Even better, find a foreigner to date them, buy them all kinds of swag and eventually marry and take care of them. I don't think I came across one really motivated, working (not sex) girl. Sad but true.
I'll spend my time in Peru, where the food is amazing. And while the girls may not be as good looking, more of them have a heart and work hard. Plus, I prefer natural to all that surgery and plastic in Colombia.
My two cents. I know many people live in Colombia and love it. Not for me.

There are plenty of hard working Colombians aside from the fact that it's also hard to find jobs. You can't paint a broad stroke on all of them. Maybe you should expand your horizons and meet some new Colombian friends.

I'm at that stage with the DR after 26 trips. Sometimes we need that new adventure to keep us hungry. Colombia isn't for everyone and sorry you arent happy, good luck in Peru.
