Angeles City. Getting There
There a many reports already on how to get to AC and Stickman's info page on Fields Avenue is excellent. So that newbies don't have to scroll through hundreds of pages, here is a quick summary. There are three ways to get to AC:
1. Fly directly into to Clark International Airport on one of the budget airlines from Singapore, Taipei, Cataclan or KL.
2. Take a taxi from Ninoy Aquino International Airport to AC. The driver will ask for 2500 pesos, but you should be able to negotiate it to 2000 pesos. This is a quick, simple solution and will take between 1. 5 to 2. 0 hours depending on how soon the driver can clear Manila traffic before getting onto the NL Express Way. He will deliver you to the hotel door.
3. A cheaper but more cumbersome way is to take a provincial bus which either stops at Dau Bus Station or Marquee Mall near Angeles City. From Ninoy Aquino, go straight up to the departures area and get a metered taxi to the Victory Bus Terminal in Pasay. Make sure you get the driver to turn the meter on. Fare to Pasay will be no more than 150 pesos. Make sure you don't get a taxi from the arrivals area taxi stand using the voucher system. The driver won't turn his meter on and will claim the minimum fare is 300 pesos. At Victory's Pasay bus station, go to the counter and buy a ticket for the bus which is heading to either Dagupan or Baguio. One will stop at Dau Terminal and the other at Marquee Mall. Both are ok. The fare will 147 pesos. Buses leave every hour. From Marquee Mall, the trike to AC will cost about 150 pesos and from Dau about 100 pesos. If you have the time, I'd recommend the bus as you will be immersed in Filipino life quickly. All up cost will be around 400-450 pesos. Various other bus companies also stop at Dau, including Rabbit, but I don't know their schedules. Victory Liner has an excellent web site and their staff are very helpful (even if they know the reason why you're going to AC!)
Phils Dentist. SmileMakeOver
Someone was looking for dentist. I finally dug up the URL.
http://smilemakeoverdental.net/
Just a quick note: I was in AC last week for some dental work and had it done at SmileMakeOver. I have used them a number of times over the last several years. (cleaning and fillings) Their facilities are nice and certainly modern (by Philippine standards and I would say compared to most USA dental offices.)
They offer quite a range of services. I believe that a previous poster was looking for "Whitening" which is offered, though by my best quess, the pricing is similar to USA at $ 500 to $ 600. That said, the other services are affordable. The only caveat would be that they do employ some young dentists that may not have a wealth of experience.
While I was there, another gentleman in the next room (they have several examination rooms) was getting an implant and I believe that there was even a medical doctor present.
They seem to have a knowledgeable staff and certainly are intent on providing a good service. I will be back in the near future for a bridge that will be a fraction of the US cost.
No PM capability. My apologies
