I am a new member of ISG, this is my first post.

I am going on a diving trip in Indonesia and will spend 2 nights (only!) in Bali in May, Will be staying in Sanur but have not reserved a hotel yet. Thinking of Sativa Sanur $43/night, does anyone know if they let girls in? Or does anyone have a suggestion for a good place for under $50 per night.

I am not one of you young mongers. Am 65 with all white hair but with athletic body. Use to be a stud but no longer, not since my prostrate operation. But still want to sample the goodies in Bali. Any suggestions where and how ? I definitely do not want to go bars late at night. Would like to find someone to take to my hotel room by 9 PM. I would like to find a young sweetie at least an 8. I am a seasoned traveler, of moderate means not an old rich and dumb tourist type. I am willing to pay a fair price for quality and safety but do not want to be ripped off. Am afraid that my age invites the temptation to try and extract unreasonable sums. Any help will be greatly appreciated

I am also of the same age group (64 in about a Month)First of all bars are not a problem at all,I pretty much only go to bars and have never had a problem. However if you just dislike them then Saur is the place to be. There is a report by Hange a couple of posts below that sums things up pretty well.

I don't know the hotel you are staying at but I would be very suprised indeed if it was not girl friendly, the security guard at night will probably want to keep the girl's ID card (the girls are used to this) and you should give the security guard say RP20,000.

As for prices, I normally pay RP300-RP400k in bars however in Sanur I would expect around RP200k. Just be friendly and don't pay stupid prices, you should have a great time.

Well, the only problem I see is the time of the evening you want to meet your lady. Most of the action starts much later.
I have 2 suggestions.
1. go to Sanur to one of the brothels, and pick a girl to stay with you LT. read a few pages of the Bali thread, you will know where to go, and what to pay.
2. PM Bali Semut, who might know a nice girl you can hook up with. (sorry Semut, am not trying to make you sound like a pimp, you just know lots of cute things)

regardless of what you end up doing, you can email the hotels you are interested in, and ask if they are girl friendly, and always book a double.

After reading the forum, I came to the conclusion that there's seems to be great nightlife on saturdays and sundays in the Kuta/Legian/Seminyak area. I'm a monger throughout Asia but like some decent nightlife with a good crowd on other days of the week as well.

Can anyone confirm if it is just the weekends which are busy these days in Bali nightlife scene or will any other day of the week be big party time as well ? If so, where's the place 2b please?

I miss the early nineties when you have to walk through a muddy lane to the Peanuts club while different music (or sort of) came from both sides (Koala Blu against The Warehouse). Each night was crowded at either Gado Gado nightclub or 66 starting from 1.00am on.

My last visit dates back from 2005 and I am planning to return next august. I am a party animal and hope to find the right grounds each night.

Any input appreciated.

Welcome to ISG. Can't help you with Bali but take 1Ball up on his suggestion; he's a local resident expert.

Asianatic, everyday is a weekend in Bali. Mondays are big at Bounty and MBargo, Tuesdays average everywhere. Wednesday Hardrock and then Bounty & Mbargo, Thursdays, Karma Sutra, Bounty, Mbargo, Santa Fe Friday everywhere, Saturday the same, Sunday just depends. On top of that some nights just go off for no reason... Its really take a chance and hang on.

It will be my first time in Bali and Jakarta and I think the Loko can break me in gently, please to tell me how to get there. Also please tell about the foxy looking girl in black holding a pool queue, she is in your pic of the girls behind the bar. Any info for a newbie would be good, is she still there. And what's her name, if you can tell me. Is she available for a few weeks and what sort of costs/ Let me know if she is not there and might be in jakarta as I hear some of the girls do that, I can always change the travel plans and visit the famous BlokM, my friends tell she is more likly to working there, but I am on a mission I must have her.

I will be coming to Bali on Wednesday night about 10pm or so and will be staying at the Hard Rock Hotel. From what Bali Semut is saying, there seems to be action at the "Hard Rock" on Wednesdays. Are we talking about the same Hard Rock (that would be great, to be able to pick up in the same facility)? From what time does the Hard Rock start to rock and possible to pick up some chicks?

(apologies for the newbie-type question, I am very familiar with Jakarta and getting to be familiar with Medan, but Bali is new to me.)

Whilst not an "on the ground" expert like Bali Semut + co, I spend a reasonable amount of time at the Hard Rock. The bar in question is "Centerstage", it has a half decent house band and definitely has a few girls cruising, 10. 30 onwards seems best. Its a big bar but the girls generally position themselves at a corner of the bar and are certainly obvious to a mongerer's eye. I find it a soulless place and generally to loud. Also I believe that it is first stop for many of the girls and they like to keep their options open at that stage of the evening with the hope of a rich tourist paying them a huge fee. Put it this way. Its like BATS compared to Top Gun!

Like Bali Semut mentioned recently in a post, being Bali there is often no rhyme or reason to the activity level, girl wise.

Wednesday is ladies night so it can get busy with "ladies". You have the Centerstage area at the lobby area which gets people earlier as it closes early.

After that some go down to the Hard Rock Cafe. Centerstage has no entry fee. Hard Rock Cafe has a first drink change, higher price than drinks once inside. Ladies night is no first drink charge for ladies and drink discounts for ladies, I think 2 for 1 on cetain drinks?

Nice if you get a chick back to your room, express service, then carry on the evening else where. Bounty is rocking these days. Mbargo gets busy, some nights more than others, sometimes it's hit and miss, for no reason could be dead or could be over crowded (like Bali Semut says). Newish place in Seminyak, at the beach on the corner before Dejavu. It gets crowded but is smallish. Has 24 hour food as well. Hmmm.

Patience is always best in Sanur. It depends on the amount of tourists in Bali at the time you are there. Ya, there are grandmas and there are sweet young things, take your pick. Sanur has it all. I assume that when you say grandma, you mean over 25?

I have to say the local scene is going in spurts at the moment, Luv to Eat I suggest you might want to go to Block M first all the girls from the previous posting that you refered to are now there. There seems to be a hell of a lot more ladyboys around at the moment and they are appearing everywhere and taking many a drunk aussie home... I must admit I laugh my tits off when I see them being chatted up by a big footballer/surfer type who think they are in for the huge score of the night.

Although 99% of these girls? are easily recognisable as transvestites so please just watch out. Bars to watch out for them is Bounty, Santa Fe and the gay bars in Dyana Pura, Double 66 and DeJaVu. There is one that is allowed into MBargo but she is at least half way to an op. Just dont look at them with beer glasses.

The pickings are still small but I put that down to most of the girls are still coming back from their home towns after Nyepi so I would say in the next 2 weeks Bali will be good again.
