The trick is to have a Filipina call and canvas prices for you, both of my housemaids are very good at that and are very protective of me. They can get the lower Filipino price and they are able to bargain them down from even that whereas I would be stuck with the higher American price. Speaking flient Tagalog is no advantage for me in bargaining because of my American face.

I always used to have my wife book the room and by keeping a low profile usually could get the Pinoy rate for a few days before the Hotel got wise. It is VERY irritating to be charged the roundeye surtax, which is supposedly based on ability to pay, yet wealthy Pinoys still can get the local rate. The PRC is even worse. Happens in Africa and South America too, though not to the same extremes as in SE Asia. But let's face it; there are so many advantages to being anglo that you reall cannot complain too much about having to pay a bit more for hotels and hookers. IMHO 99% of people without white skin would give most anything to have it.

But on the other hand Tanning Salons do great business during the rainy periods in my native Vancouver,Just like in other north american cities.Funny but thats how things are,I have customers leaving the PI to escape the heat for a vacation,while I have customers arriving in the PI to escape the cold.

I will be visiting my GF in Feb and she would like to visit Cebu for a few days to maybe as long as a week. I don't like the beach, don't swim and don't scuba dive. She loves the beach. We both like night clubs with good bands - rock, blues, jazz, we enjoy nice restauarants and a little site seeing. [I enjoy mongering but not this time. GF would do a Bobbit on me! LOL]

What would you recommend? Travel from Makati to Cebu, hotel, things to do and places to see...

I'll take a stab at this one. Cebu is full of interesting night clubs, most popular is the sunflower (Thursdays is ladies night) place rocks on until 4 Am on Saturday. You can try Ratskys for a littel smaller better behaved crowd. Also check out Sinners and Saints across from Country Mall, mostly pinoy but every one is cool, nice to westerners. You might even try going into Lapu Palu city to a place called "The Cadillac club" run by a down home boy from Alabama, they give a westerner the royal treatment. All the aforementioned have live bands and dance floor, drinks and food of course.

You can do some sight seeing, the GF would enjoy a pilgrimage to Santo Nino Catherdral, check out the Chinese temple over looking the city. Go up to the Marco Polo Hotel in Lahug Hills and you can find some spectacular views in these little outdoor resturaunts, breath taking at night.

There are more amenities here for westerners, food, cafe's etc. If you get bored you can always go bowling or play nine Ball in any of the Malls like Sm or Ayala.

Check out some Hotels like the Richmond or castle peak which are centrally located.

Last but not least Bohol is a two hour jet boat ride away, I know you dont like the beach etc but Chocolate hills tour, Tarsier monkey farm, riverboat ride are all available.

I’ve been traveling to the P.I. for over 20 years. Without question, the P.I. is the best in the world for barebacking and gfe. I've found barebacking in the PI to be the norm and I'm usually the one insisting on a condom but my condom use has less to do with getting the girl pregnant and more to do with contracting STD's. It's hard to monger when you've got a big blister on your unit.
