The one I am refering to is not the four star hotel but a very nice hotel

Chris Long in Santo Domingo
Chris Long in Santo Domingo.
Santo Domingo is not a monger location in the since that Sosua or Gringo Gulch in San Jose, Fields Ave. In Angeles City or the zone in Tijuana is. It is a regular city that has some mongering options available in it. If you are looking for or expecting to find a strip like in Sosua or a Del Ray like in San Jose you will be very disappointed. But there are mongering opportunities available.

I found the map above to be a great resource when mongering in Santo Domingo and it will also help to refer to when reading the report.
Reason for Going:
Last August when I was in Sosua I wifed up for a few days with a chica from Santo Domingo, I kinda liked her at the time. While we were lying in bed she mentioned her birthday was February 23rd mine was the 25th we both thought it would be neat for me to go to Santo Domingo for the weekend and celebrate together. We searched the net together and found a great deal on a flight so I booked it then and there. I wasn't home for a week after that and she started with the RFM after about two weeks of her constantly RFM (I never sent any) I got tired of her deleted her contact information and ignored all of her texts. But, the flight was already booked so I figured I will just go for the weekend and monger.
Hotels:
Original I was going to stay at the La morada which you can find on the map on the corner of calla Santiago and Danae. Price is $40 a night free wireless. I booked about a month before my trip and called to make sure it was guest friendly and was assured it was. About three days before my trip I called again to confirm my reservation and to assure myself again that it was guest friendly. Was told 'yes we are guest friendly, you can bring in one guest a day' ONE A DAY, that's not going to work so I canceled my reservation and called Rafael rafjimenez28@hotmail.com At Jaguar Apart Hotel on Calla Hermanos Deligne http://www.jaguarapartstudios.com/english/welcome.htm. After having been there I am glad that I canceled my stay at La Morada its location is ok but not the best, whereas the location of the Jaguar Apart Hotel was much, much better. I was very pleased with this hotel and its location. I was told by Rafael I could bring in as many girls as I wanted as long as it was done in good taste. I would bring in four or five women a day and not a word was said. All chicas would have to leave their I'd at the front desk and that was it. The hotel had great wireless. I originally booked the standard $45 room but when I got there, there was a mix up and it was already occupied. I don't blame Rafael for this as I booked only three days before my arrival and Rafael offered to have the occupants move out of the room so I could have it but I told him that was ok I would just take one of the $55 rooms and Rafael knocked a couple bucks of the price for me. The hotel itself is clean nice and in a nice safe neighborhood. The hotel staff were very helpful but do not speak English but this was never much of a problem. Rafael was a good host very helpful but he was a little like Charley from Charley's Angeles, I never met him that I know of, but he was always available on the phone. Called a couple times on my first day to make sure everything was ok and was always available by phone any time I needed something, I would call and he would make a few phone calls and make it happen. I will always stay in this hotel on any future trips to Santo Domingo. I also ran into a couple other mongers from the states there. There were not a lot of mongers that I met in Santo Domingo but this hotel seems like the best place to find other like minded mongers.
The hotel as I said is in a nice safe neighborhood I went walking at all hours of the day and night and felt perfectly safe. It's close to the casinos, the casas on Pasteur, the street walkers on Danae and an easy enough walk to the Conde which I made, its an Ideal location.
Casas:
I didn't visit many of the casas while I was there, prices from what I was told are around $3500 pesos. I tried to visit 305 which you can find on the map on Independence at around 4. M but the place seemed to be closed the door was locked and no one answered when I rang the bell. Went over to Satan Dolls on Pasteur next and the place was dead there were only two girls there and myself. One was really cute and when I asked price was originally told 3500 pesos but I scoffed at this price and they came down to 2500 pesos for two hours. The service was good she stayed for the full two hours and gave me two shots. The casas all looked closed or completely dead during the day but when I walk by at night I could hear music and see the lights and they looked very happening like a disco. There are four on Pasteur, Girls house, Satan Dolls, Sky High which are right next to each other and then a little farther down there's Venezia. I only visited Satan Dolls but did pick up a chica from Venezia as she was leaving. She was walking out of the place and I played naïve like I didn't know what the place was, she made eye contact as she was leaving and we started a conversation her asking me where I was going and me asking her how much for sex. At first she looked back at the place and quoted me 3500 pesos but I played like I didn't know why we would have to go back in there and said lets go to my room for 2500 pesos and she agreed. She was very attractive and gave good but professional service the only chica on my entire trip that gave me a covered BJ all others were BBBJ.
The casas on Pasteur are safe but there is a fair amount of riff raff hanging out along the street. I felt safe but was constantly pestered with touts trying to get me to go into one of the casas or shine my shoes or offering to drive me somewhere or sell me all kinds of things that I didn't need or they would just come up to me and tell me they were hungry. It is the same way along the melacon (sp?) in front of the casinos. It is a very nice walk along the ocean but these touts are like mosquitos in an arctic summer they are on you and will not leave you alone. On more than one occasion I had to get loud and tell them to leave me alone. By the end of my trip I started avoiding the Melacon simply because I did not want to be bothered by these touts.
DO NOT let any of them take you to the casas they get a commission and you have to pay the higher price, you don't need these guys to take you to the obvious. Also do not let any taxi driver take you in, have them wait in the car. Let the taxi drive know that you know what the prices are at the casas and you are not going to pay a commission for them. They get the taxi fair and that is it.
I looked for casa Playboy one afternoon but could not find it. I have read that it is closed now or moved to another location but I couldn't find it. Went to GBP twice and was very pleased with this place 1000 pesos for the chica and they have a good number of chicas to choose from I personally thought many of the chicas were hot and doable. The place is a little cramped and the rooms are a little dingy but not bad. No bed just a couch to fuck on. The problem with GBP is that it is not within walking distance and you will need to take a cab. Make sure you let the cabbie know up front that you know what the prices are at GBP and that he is to wait for you down stairs and you are not going to pay a commission for him taking you there. He gets the cab fare and that's it.
Street Walkers:
I did not find a large number of Street walkers, went over the Conde around 6 to 7. M but seen no one I could say was a freelancer. The Conde is a pedestrian shopping street there are many attractive women there but none that I could see that were freelancing. It could have been bad timing or none were particular interested in me but there was nothing there that I found available for P4P. There is one massage place along the conde with girls standing out front like in Sosua trying to get you to come inside but none looked particularly attractive to me so I didn't go inside to check it out.
There are street walkers along Danae they show up at night but there is not a large number of them. I never seen more than two or three at a time and I would say over the entire weekend I think I only seen a total of seven or eight different street walkers. Danae is a relatively safe street many locals hanging out at night but I always felt safe walking there at night. I tried a total of four street walkers many were not bad looking gave me good service, prices were anywhere from 1000 to 1500 pesos. I did not see any that I thought were street walkers along Pasteur. I did see a few chicas walking from or to the casas which I think were casa chicas. I would occasionally see one of the girls from Danae along Independence but for the most part never seen anything along Independence.
Casinos:
I wondered through the Jaguar and the Atlantico casino a couple times and even stopped into the pure disco next to the casino Jaguar. Stopped into the disco around 11. M and it was dead no one there but a few couples. The casinos themselves are regular casinos but each time I wondered through both day and night I found freelancers there, not a lot only a couple and was approached by them each time. However, none were particularly attractive to me and they all wanted between 2000 and 2500 pesos.
Drivers:
There are many taxi drivers offering to take you to various places and of course the casas. The drivers in my opinion are a barrel of snakes they are not above making a buck off you and want to get a commission for taking you to the casas. That is why you have to be upfront with them and let them know that you know what the prices are.
I used a guy named Fabio, I arranged for a driver with Rafael when I booked my room to pick me up at the airport and this is the guy Rafael sent. Rafael told me it would be $25 to $30 for the ride from the airport Fabio tried charging me $45 I told him what Rafael said and we settled on 1500 pesos. Fabio on the ride over told me about all of the tourist locations he could take me to and the restaurants he also offered to get chicas for me as well as other things. I don't partake of those other things so I didn't take him up on that offer but I did tell him I wanted a chica. He said that he know normal college girls that weren't prostitutes but wanted to make some extra money for clothes and things like that. I tried a total of four of Fabio's girls and I was very pleased with every one of them. Two were eighteen and two were nineteen they all stayed for two or three hours and gave me two sessions. Price was 2500 pesos for the girl and Fabio said it was 1000 pesos for the taxi fair to drive them over and take them back. I heard he was also charging the girls 1000 pesos as well. He mentioned several other casas as well but I never made It to any of them. When I asked prices he told me it was 2500 pesos at those casas but I'm sure that also included a commission for him. Fabio knows both regular tourist locations as well as monger locations speaks English and has a stable of attractive young girls he can bring to you. He can be a pretty good driver but is not above making a buck off of you if he can.
Regular girls:
I have read many reports that it is easy to pick up regular none P4P girls in Santo Domingo. I did not have any luck in this there were many locations where the locals would hang out and there were many attractive girls but none seemed particularly interested so I never tried. My opinion on this is if you do ok in the States than you will probably do pretty good at picking up regular girls in Santo Domingo, if picking up hot 20 year olds is like winning the lottery for you back in the state than you will probably have a very hard time picking up regular girls in Santo Domingo. No magic happens when you cross international boundaries that make you more attractive to regular women. If you aren't getting them back in the States you probably won't be able to get them in Santo Domingo.
Day Time Action:
It seemed very hard to find any daytime action. The street walkers do not come out until night and the Casas all appear to be closed during the day time. This was when knowing Fabio came in real useful, when I wanted a girl during the day time I would call him and have him bring one over.
Final Thoughts:
Santo Domingo is a regular city that has some mongering options available in it. It's safe fun but day time can be a little hard to find action unless you know someone. If you have looks and game than you will probably do pretty well with the regular chicas, if your best days are behind you then you will probably have a hard time picking up regular chicas. The casas are an option but can be expensive and you want to avoid any tout taking you to them. Street walkers are available but not in large numbers and only at night. You can get the mongering job done in Santo Domingo but it is not the abundance or point and click like other locations.
I probably will return to Santo Domingo every now and then to monger as I enjoy variety and now that I know the scene a little bit I think my return trips will be more fruitful.

Driving in the DR by Bogiemaker
-How many trips to SD did you take before you were comfortable enough to start driving there?
Have been to the DR 10 times started driving on my third trip. Gets easier each trip but I try to not let down my guard and become complacent. When I was a kid my dad used to get to gawking and run off the road. I try not to be that driver but the older I get the harder it becomes. Sometimes I have to remind myself where I am and pull over to look at the scenery rather than become my fathers son.
-Do you get your rental cars from the airport? If so, what company would you recommend?
I have rented exclusively from Budget in SDQ, STI and POP. One time I rented a car at STI and had a flat in PP. The Budget guy at POP handled everything for me and I got a new tire at the Hertz rental in PP. Was hit by a motorcycle in Cabrette and the Budget people were there for me with a lawyer contacting the local police on my behalf. The credit card paid the repairs on the car $800 after $250 deductible and the liability insurance from Budget paid for the motorcycle $200 and $20 clinic visit. I have not tried other rental agencies but recommend Budget. The economy car in SDQ is the Kia Rio and they have the Hyundai Elantra in POP and STI. I prefer the Rio the Elantra I had in STI was mostly worn out and needed new tires. The Kia in SDQ was brand new two years ago and had 17 KM on the odometer.
I was told by the lady at Budget in SDQ that Hertz and Budget are owned by the same people.
-What is the name of the insurance you should buy ("Casa del conductor?")
I use the Comprehensive from using my AMEX card. I take the liability, tire and glass insurance from Budget. This adds about $15 per day to my rental fees but worth it for the Peace of Mind.
-Also, is GPS of any use in the DR?
I use a Garmin GPS with Dominican maps from GPS Travel Maps.
http://www.gpstravelmaps.com/dominican_republic.php
Budget has GPS's for rent with their cars but I have not inquired about the price. Before each trip I plan my routes and upload the routes and points of interest to my GPS before leaving. This way I get the route I want and not necessarily the shortest as chosen by the GPS. For example the best route from SDQ to Sosua / PP is to use the toll road and through Nagua (in my opinion) but the GPS routes you through SD and Santiago since that is the shorter route. Problem is you have to drive through traffic so the over all trip takes longer then driving up the coast from Nagua.
I would not like trying to drive in the DR without a GPS. I have used mine to route myself all over the island and around SD. I do not like driving in city traffic so I avoid SD whenever possible but last trip I need to pick up a friend in downtown SD and the GPS routed me into and out of the city without many problems. Having the GPS helps in that I can pay attention to the driving and not worry so much about getting lost.
