She / he used excellent English both then and throughout our weeks of chats prior. During our vid the girl spoke english well enough so I didn't suspect anything.

Cheers.[/QUOTE]It's not necessarily more fraud-prone due to any technological specifications, it's just a flavor. Certain kinds of girls want you to get on Skype, specifically. Others will avoid it, in preference of other apps. It's more a social, vs. A technological distinction.

You really can't beat Wechat, Viber and Whatsapp for verfiying someone is who they say they are.

I doubt we know who people really are. Let's say 40% of the Filipino population can't even prove who they are. I. e. Limited birth records, missing parents etc etc.
I think the main thing is not to be mixed up with organizers and handlers.
As foreigners we will probably be the last to know.

As a 50 year old guy that likes filipinas I have to admit it takes some time to enjoy the craziness, the funniness and the adventurous nature. We are dating kids ( 18 of course). They just love fun and adventure and certainly don't take life serious.
One thought that resonates "The less you have the less you have to worry about. " Life can be fun and adventurous without a life long career, share portfolios, ex-wives, government tax debts, quarterly shareholder updated etc etc.

Previously I detailed my story of how a girl I was chatting very convincingly on Skype turned out to have a handler. Well, I was chatting up another girl from PL using Viber and had a similar discovery but in a new manner.
My PL profile says I only do viber and whatsapp. I explicitly say no email. I decided not to explicitly say no skype since I did have some good results. If I girl asks for skype I just put a much higher degree of scrutiny into reviewing her profile before I agree.
So this PL girl has a profile which makes her sound like a serious, real girl. Her pictures are beautiful but not overtly sexy. So I chat with her a few times and her English is limited, but we communicate well enough.
I ask to vid so I can verify her but she says she has no load. OK, fine. I say lets try tomorrow.
Next day ask for vid again and again she says no load. Without me asking she sends more pics this time more sexy including a very revealing shot of her in a nightgown. Nice! But wait, why is she sending me these sexy pics? Hmmm.
The girl is in Zoambanga and I tell her I will be in Manila and Cebu only. So for my next verification test I tell her that if we vid and she is real I will buy her a ticket to Cebu or Manila. (If she is real she would be worth the expense based on looks!) She says she can do a vid and send it. I'm like, "OK but make sure you mention my name". About a minute later I get a video that is not what I expected.
She is completely naked and proving she is a real woman. Not what I expected from little miss serious.
The catch? Well in the background audio I hear some guy speaking in tagaloc obviously telling her how to pose and move. She never says anything and never speaks my name.
Red alert. She has a handler. I bailed.

I am sure there are nice girls in those places but never found one on dating sites that did something similar to what you experienced. And why bother with the air fare when plenty cute ones in Cebu, Manila, Davao already.
