those guys in uniform have some power to make your life miserable.
That's the point. Having arrived 60-70 times so far in NAIA or Clark, my approach is a friendly "Good morning" and answering the questions short and reasonable if there are any. Always got my stamp in less than 2 minutes.
I am going from NAIA to North Ermita to take the Southern Cross Shuttle bus. Are taxis from airport reliable and are they likely to try to overcharge? The hotel asks 600PHP which seems rather high compared to what the shuttle bus costs.
It sounds like you are looking for the cheapest way to Ermita fatso. I’d suggest you go upstairs after leaving Immigration and look for a metered taxi dropping off somebody who is arriving at the airport. Tell him to turn on the meter or else he will most likely try to fleece you. If you pay more than 150 pesos, consider yourself fleeced.

And I guess the VL bus is cheaper than Southern cross bus.

Rouges and CP
Got stranded due to typhoon. Thanks a lot Cebu Pacific. Rude ***** staff informed me that they won't give compensation due to thus situation. Told them I would do something about it later. There should be a thread on here to discuss them! They canceled the flight right on boarding time! Classy! Urgh!
So I went to Rogues in Makati to wait out the typhoon. I live in Japan so the destination would be calling off all planes. Rogues in my opinion is really good. I had a very cute older girl. Best girl in the phils for me. 2 rounds she came twice. Me just once. They all have lines. But this one was pretty convincing. Building a place in her province. Great attitude and super GFE.
Take the girls back to the bar after you do the deed if you can. It keeps down the runner possibility and other girls there don't pester you for lady drinks. I have to recommend trying that! Back in the bar I bought her drinks at the usual price. And she didn't pester me for drinks. Just wanted to chill. You got to like the ones like that.
Sorry but Ill keep her identity to myself.
Moral of the story, keep your cool, keep your mouth shut, don't joke around, keep it short and sweet, and no smart mouthing! . It does not matter where you are, those guys in uniform have some power to make your life miserable.
CoolT.
You forgot one moral. Stay off the phone until you get out of Immigration and Customs.

Wow, you have me beat by a factor of 3. But I have the same tact and have had the same results as you. Once a female imm officer mentioned,"you've been here many times," and I spontaneously blurted out,"I love the Philippines" with a big smile. Despite the poker face, I detected a slight upward curvature of her tightly held lips. Honesty is the best policy!

Cell phone?
Good point Bearsk, but we can't, nor should we try, to teach people common sense. We might also say that there is a line before the immigration kiosk which says wait behind this line. I don't think we should tell people to wait behind the line. If those kind of people get fracked, the imm people can say they are doing their job and life gets easier for the rest of us.
Those people who don't have the sense to be polite to imm, how do you think they will treat the ladies who work on the fringes of society? You can see it right here on ISG. Some people come, bluntly ask for info, and we never hear from them again. We get others who are polite or humble, thankful, and they come back to share.
Nevertheless, Bearsk, that is one great piece of advice. For everyone and anytime. X.

Just my 2 Sen.
LOL! A white pale lone guy dragging 15+kg flight luggage and hand carry to the Victory Liner station. I would be the "mark of the day". I have been around but always on comfort class. Just inquired if paying 600PHP to hotel transport is overspending. Sirs, definitely in deep appreciation and respect but far far from your experience level. Over and out; I will be taking the hotel transport. Thanks.

There is a good way to be frugal and stupid way. You are going to AC. You are going to spend money on drinks and girls. If you get drunk you will spend more money than you budgeted. If you find a irresistible girl you will spend more money to be with her and may give her more money and gifts.
Breaking down what you will save by taking victory liner,
1. Taxi from Airport to Ermita. If the taxi guy puts the meter on at departure level less than 200 pesos. Beware even they sometimes want to charge you more.
If you get the Taxi mafia from arrival level it is about 400 pesos- I do not have the answer why. Rigged meter?
2. I know only about Swagman bus because I have used it multiple times. It costs 600 pesos from ermita to your hotel in AC. No tip is expected. Baggage in safe and within your sight. Once they stop at the hotel the hotel security guy takes the bags inside.
So the total cost is approx 1000 pesos. Not to mention safe, no hassles and no lugging baggage, no dodging beggars, kids, hawkers.
Taxi to victory liner bus station- Taxi will demand 100 pesos minimum.
Victory liner now I think approx 180 pesos regular class.
Trike from Dau to AC min 100 pesos.
Total- approx 400 pesos. Not to mention waiting at the bus station, hot humid weather, sweating, lugging luggage over dirty street, worried about luggage storage, sitting uncomfortable in a trike, worried about accident etc.
Is it worth it?
Seasoned expats it is normal. If you just have a carry you can try.
My GF catches buses to everywhere because she is used to it and she is local. Even non-aircon bus is ok for her.
But for me it is a nightmare.

I agree

I agree the fly by bus is the way to go you save so much time that is money too, also it is much saver to take the swagman bus than the victory bus I heard of bus robbery going on mostly at night.

Not to add fuel to the fire, but I am curious about the issue with Cebu Pacific. They are not the most customer friendly that is for cerain, but I assume you choose them over say. Cathay Pacific because of the price of the ticket. So they cancel your flight due to a TYPHOON, and you expect some kind of compensation? I don't know of a " full service" airline that gives compensation for a "weather event", let alone a "Low cost" carrier, which Cebu claims to be. I have had a few Cebu horror stories myself, but I temper my expectations based upon pricing levels, ie you get what you pay for! The real issue is the low cost carriers arent really that when all the hidden fees and add ons are included.
That being said, you should be glad that someone had the balls to cancel the flight instead of pushing it, I can assure you they would have much rather operated the sector than cancel.

If they had been helpful and suggested places to stay it would have helped too. Instead I was told to come back tomorrow. They were rude so they get me being rude right back.

Have fun!

I've used CP a few times now and cannot say I'm impressed with their service, either. Many late departures and cancelled flights not due to weather. Strictly a budget airline. Cute stewardesses, tho. I'd like to bang some of those little hotties.
