in fact, the only time i had an issue with driving was in pto pta. i was stopped at an intersection and after looking to my left steered to make a right turn, only to discover to my horror and dismay that an idiot on a scooter had since sneaked in. to my right. in a f. ing hurry. no helmet.no nothing and with a little child on the pillion. just a little knock could have been bad.
i came into contact with a motorcycle that had an older person as a passenger in san pedro de macoris. very low speed contact side to side, no damage to the motorcycle or to the car, it was mostly my fault.
I have tried airbnb for santiago and I thought the owners were mostly pain.
Two apartments in Santiago I might look into, one has a rooftop jacuzzi that looks like it could be fun to entertain with some Santiagueras (maybe ellas desnuda por la jacuzzi en la noche); https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/256060. And this one with a private pool; https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/773149.
Jarabacoa is very green (many plants) and is close to Santiago, this Country cabin type house in Jarabacoa has a fireplace (you can supply the large oval cognac glasses and cognac, to drink in front of the fireplace with a favorita, LOL); https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/787982
I have visited all of the Ave Pasteur casas. Some people like the lounge, sports bar or pool hall scene (like me).
On Avenida Pasteur just down the block from the casas and on the other side of the street is a sports place, supposedly with a bar, billiards (pool tables) and batting cages (baseball). Just south of that sporting place a Haitian guy sells whole fruit from a cart (he probably lives in the building there, with his family, artwork hangs on the walls), just about across the street from him is the new hotel shakey: http://www.hotelshakey.com/
Anyone can buy whole fruit from the Haitian guy, if they are on that street in the daytime.

Bikini bottom can come off in the jacuzzi or pushed aside (I wouldn't bring a screamer to the outdoor jacuzzi for sex, shut off the lights for more privacy). The house with the private pool, the owner seems reasonable.
My experience in Santiago is that they are somewhat less fanatical about stopping guests with female companionship. Hodelpa El Gran Almirante and Hodelpa Centro Plaza I entered with decent looking Dominicanas, without a problem.
Bora Bora Cabaña is nice in Santiago; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkFLNggwW94 (truth in advertising, LOL). And Horus Cabaña which is maybe 3-4 blocks from Bora Bora, this advertisement shows a brief glimpse of what some of the theme rooms are like (some rooms have two floors); http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfgUv-FA6Jo

Hotel Platino in Santiago, was guest friendly when I stayed there years ago, room rate is about $60US; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbfvNsI1VR0
I am not sure when I will be in Santiago, hopefully within the next month, I'll check airfare prices.

Updates on SD
I tried looking for links of distinction that offer the current scene in SD, but can't find anything less than a couple years old. I've been there about 6. 7 times, the last over a year ago. Mainly, I had a regular sweetie that would stay with me overnight during my stays, then tend to her kids and work her professional job during the day. That well has dried up as my preference is to play the field, as it were. Prior to hooking up with her (and I might add, I met her through a tour guide on El Conde, I did all the usual haunts; Girl House, Doll House (total rip) , Casa de Modelos, etc. I even bagged a couple semi or non-pros I've met on El Conde or in one of the casinos.
I'm booked for late May and would like if anyone can chime in on the current go-to places for quality poon, reasonably priced. I am a Gringo, but have enough lingo skills to carry a conversation and negotiate what it is I'm looking for, LOL. I'm staying at the Napolatino, so guests are no problem. My likes are more than wam-bam (will take it as an option though, I tend to like to take someone for drinks, maybe dinner, show them a good time.
If anyone has the ready link to answering all this in a recent post, by all means, share. I've been to Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Nicarauga and Thailand, so I'm not a newbie; definitely not cheap if it comes to quality. My plan is to stay in the Colonial Zone and Malecon areas for mongering activities; maybe a day trip to Boca Chica.

I am not a member of any such club: one owner (a woman living in NYC) asked me for a list of visitors, like indeed as mentioned at the place of your choice here. So I blew her off. However, I might have found another option through bnb in santiago but the renter is a man. Let's see how that pans out and I will report.

More balls then Brains
On my last trip I took some heat from guys because I arranged to hook up with an ex's sister. I had the hots for little sister for over a year. Long story short the sex was ok mostly because see was a little quilty about banging her sister ex boy friend. On this trip I arranged to hookup with the old GF. Question how do you handle little sister. You tell her you invited big sis and you would like her to visit to. All is good she is thrilled to visit and we are still good friends. Sexual energy on the dance floor will ne interesting. This is shaping up to be an incredible trip. There is a third sister that may go dancing with us as well. I am considering having a big party in the appartment. It is a huge place with 5 bathrooms 3 bedrooms. Balcony and access to a huge pool. I have few SWs that may want to hang out as well.

I will be there in May also until the 21st. I will be at Magna 365, next door to you! One of the best things is a mongering map. I have a link to it! Also, if you are there during my time, send me an email to nameathotmail and we will kick it! Gimnasio Bar Privado is very cheap at 1000 DOP for one and a special of 1500 for two girls with rooms on site, however you might need a taxi unless you are a good walker! Here is the mongering link! !

Hotel Shakey is about 4 months old, on Ave. Pasteur about 125 feet from the Malecon, some of the apartments (kitchens with stove and refrigerator) might have balconies and a view of the Sea.
If you stay at the Hotel Napolitano you will be close to Plaza Juan Barón; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YePt9OLkXQ. Sometimes concerts in this plaza, some people fly kites there in the daytime, has food kiosks. Hotel Napolitano has Mint Disco which some nights gets an attractive non-pro crowd. Baby Dolls (supposedly open 24/7) and Foxys are on the malecon, just east of the Hotel Napolitano. Also on the Malecon east of the Napolitano is D'Luis Parrilada restaurant, which has outdoor seating on the water (good for grilled meats or to take a chica there for a drink or an appetizer), the menu with prices; http://www.menu.com.do/restaurante-170/DLuisParrillada.html
West of the Hotel Napolitano on the Malecon is a new park called Plaza Guibia. Has a beach, free workout machines, sand volleyball and sand soccer, supposedly free wifi internet. At night Plaza Guibia sometimes gets crowded with people, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXAkDsbTMQA.
There is a cinema close to there as well (Adrians Tropical Restaurant overlooking the water is also close to there).
Agora Mall is nice; http://www.agora.com.do/sitio/ And http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=0egpdIgISYg&feature=endscreen (you can change money at the Mall, there is a western union there and various banks). Blue Mall is also nice with free Wifi http://bluemall.com.do/. Acropolis Mall and Docks Bar I enjoyed when I visited years ago (Hooters there as well).
Bufeo has photos from events, bars and concerts; http://portal.bufeo.com/. Bufeo also lists upcoming events. Santo Domingo Hotel association posts a listing of upcoming events in Santo Domingo, as well as drink specials and live music at different hotel bars; http://venasantodomingo.com/app/do/eventos_more.aspx.
A nice webpage with info about the Zona Colonial; http://www.zonacolonial.com/.
Revere has done well in santo domingo este in the bars on Avenida Venezuela including in Energy Club; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WE_02k7QJW0. He has also met women in the Mega Centro Mall in Santo Domingo Este. Revere also visited what might be a large Colmadon type place with music and dancing, maybe he can re-post info about that place.
Some of the p4p venues that don't get much mention here can be fun. If you like tall, shapely pros, Casa Theresa the times I visited had pros that fit that description, close to casa theresa is pink house. In Naco there is a small place called cats. Pink Pony near Ave. Kennedy had Japanese and Santiaguera pros. Club MC near Ave Delfino is low key. Penthouse was on the roof of a building, the Mansion in Santo Domingo Este was in a nice house. Showgirls had strip shows and p4p (near kennedy and probably maximo gomez if it is still open). One of the pros from GBP I was told was opening her own place.
SWs on Avenida Espana (maybe some in the daytime). Waterpark and the National Aquarium also on Avenida Espana.

Anyone can buy whole fruit from the Haitian guy, if they are on that street in the daytime.
I was in SD Feb 28 to Mar 8 with my SD hookup. Stayed at the Jaguar apart / hotel on calle #59 Hermanos Deligne. I found the sports place by accident one day while we were walking by their large parking lot that also has a hand car wash and a restaurant. We were hoping to just have a drink. Then we saw the pool tables and batting cages. They told us we can play but we have to buy a drink in order to play on the table. (Now that I think about it, I don't really believe buying a drink is required to play on the tables, I think they just made that up.)
There were other people there just sitting around drinking, but not using the tables. I saw one couple playing dominos. Some were there waiting for their cars to be finished being washed and / or waxed. We went there 3 days in a row to play pool. A game of pool is 20 pesos (2- 10 peso coins ). Didn't try the food, but I looked at the menu. It looked decent. The bar guy got our lemonade from the restaurant in the parking lot, they were delicious. The beer and mixed drinks are right at the bar where the tables are. They made decent brugal and cokes in styrofoam cups. 150 pesos each. Always too much ice, just like our lemonade. One of the days I came there in a sleeveless shirt. They gave me a t-shirt to wear until I was finished playing. It was a nice place to go to kill some time during the day. Especially if a guy is on lock down and needs something to do with his company during the day.
