But also a stupid client can be reason for that. Some weeks ago there was a guy who believed when the police told him, he would not get in trouble, if he would tell them what really happened inside. After he admitted that he got "naughty service" there, he and the girl have been taken away by the police. Different to some other countries, the police is allowed to lie to get what they want to know.

And I agree a fine is would not be a big problem. But for getting caught in a prostitution case is not something can be handled with a fine. As far as I know the girl and the guest will be punished with 20 days in prison (If the girl caught first or second time, third time is punished with 2 years for hear).

And I guess it is hard enough to explain to your wife or company where you have been the last 3 weeks, but the big problem will be, that they will cancel your visa, so that you have 3 days to leave China and you will be banned for another 3 to 5 years from getting a new visa for China. That can totally change your life plan, if you need to be in China for business.

But as my Chinese friends use to say: there is always a way to solve a problem, if you have the budget for that. But it is getting more and more risky to get caught by someone, who is not corrupt.

So I wish all of us, that we will not get in trouble like that!

The other LE said to check the other rooms and so they left.

I'm not tryin to make this incident sound in any way comical. I was shitting bricks. But it worked so that's that. The raid lasted for about 20 minutes or so. They left without any incident. The masseuse then told me that everything was fine and we could continue. She said an extra hour will be added free of charge. I was no longer in any mood. I doubt if I was going to be able to get it up again. I showered and left. The dudes who worked there were laughing their asses off when they heard what I did. They apologized and didn't charge me for the session.

I've been here twice in the past couple of weeks and had a couple of very different experiences. First time was a Thursday at opening time, arrived at 12:45 pm, waited until around 1:15 for the lineup. However, to the best of my knowledge, prostitution is an administrative offence (not a criminal offence) under the Penalties for Administration of Public Security (2005).

According to this law, both prostituting and visiting prostitutes are offences administered by the PSB. A WG or a person who goes whoring can be detained for between 10 and 15 days and may in addition be fined up to 5,000 yuan. If the circumstances are relatively minor (arbitrarily determined by the PSB), the detention can be up to 5 days, and up to 500 yuan fine.

But of course the Police are able to arbitrarily collect whatever penalties they want! My questions are:

• do the police regularly cancel foreigners' visas in Shanghai for mongering offences?
• why would police go to the bother of initiating a visa cancellation (they just want the money)?
• do you have any knowledge of this occurring in other places in China?

I ask these questions because a number of posters here have repeatedly claimed that one will get automatic visa cancellation for mongering and a stamp put in one's passport.
