SP for the first time visitor to Brazil.
In considering flight options for my first trip to Rio, I noticed that when I go on Skiplagged.com I come across some interesting flight routes that offer economy with an odd extended layover in SP. We were talking close to an entire day between flights and enough time to justify getting a room. My first thought is this would be a good opportunity to do a bit of mongering and enjoying what is purported to be the most beautiful women in Brazil, before catching a flight to GIG. Then again, maybe I am not giving SP due consideration. It does have the reputation as a business capital with little of touristic interest, but that reputation comes people who have never been to Brazil AFAIK. What are your opinions on SP for one's first visit to Brazil? I'm not a conventional tourist, obviously.
BTW, I'm actually a huge fan of Brazilian music, whether it be Bossa Nova or MPB. For all I know, SP is the live music capital of Brazil. I've picked up Portuguese better than Spanish (I'm studying both languages casually) I believe because of all the music I listen to sung in Brazilian Portuguese. I can barely handle listening to Spanish language music. Which usually doesn't have much to say. Its been said that Brazil hasn't produced much in the way of science and intellect, but they sure hit out of ballpark when it comes to song and dance.
Anyways, I am curious what some would think about visiting SP on the way in and out of the country as a layover, or does it deserve more time when weighed against the glamorous and fabled Rio. I understand that domestic flights are cheap, anyways. Your thoughts, please.
Uber is safe for first timer in Brazil?
A taxi from GRU airport to Jardins (28 km) is BRL 150, the distance from GRU to Barueri is 50 km, so the price could be some BRL 250. If you want to know exactly, send an e-mail to secretaria@guarucoop.com.br and ask them. Uber black is BRL 130-170.
Is Uber safe to take a ride from airport as first time arrriving at Brazil.
I mean I bring in other Latam countries where they say Uber is also not safe.
Just for security.
