Hi guys,
Getting ready for my first trip to Shanghai. Been hoping to make the trip for a long time and it finally materialized! I'm definitely hoping to enjoy some fun at the end of the day. Can anyone provide recommendations around the Royal Meridien? I'm not against taking a cab, but I thought it might be best to keep things easy since its a short trip. Please feel free to PM.

DV[/QUOTE]The only recommendation I give you is to avoid all touts and approaching girls around your hotel and on Nanjing Road. I also would avoid any massage places near your hotel. It;'s all scam, and you are risking to lose a lot of money.
If not. Do some readings here. Manhattan is not far by taxi, so are some of the saunas mentioned on this forum.

Yes, they may demand arbitrary amounts of legitimate or illegitimate fines (aka bribes) to make the record disappear.
However that is highly dependent upon:
A) how much they need the foreigner to fill said quota.
B) how fast you can negotiate the deal and.
C) how long can you be missed without anyone noticing.
Say if you are tourist traveling alone in China is completely different from an expat expected to show up for work everyday or show up at some meeting.
Like the story I told before, a friend's coworker was thrown in jail for three days, and he finally negotiated his release for 60,000 RMB without an official record.
Yes, his Mandarin sucked, and yes, the LE ignored him for three days before finally sending some officer who is capable of negotiating in English.
However, he had trouble explaining to his employer about his three day absence so he still lost his job and along with it his China work visa.
If I were in his shoes, I might have told my boss I was being kidnapped and held hostage by some crazy locals.
Sometimes LE can be persuaded with money, sometimes they can't even if they want to take the money.
Like if they receive some political directive that requires them to catch some examples of foreign mongers abusing Chinese women.

The area of Nanjing Lu around the Royal Meridian is ground zero for touts and others who make their living conning tourists (even the shoeshine creeps are robbing you). If you want to turn a great holiday into a nightmare just talk to anyone who walks up to you on the street and is friendly. Do not ever go anywhere with a tout male or female (including beautiful teenagers).
To find out more about scams read the forum.
The usual route would be Judy's or Manhattan. If you go there you can have a great time but it can be a bit of a tourist trap. The girls are now mostly Vietnamese. If you want to meet naked Chinese girls go to a sauna. To find a good sauna search the forum for sauna.

Yes, I agree that LE (in many countries) are given quotas, and some of the quotas are politically driven.

I wonder if this is an actual law or a threat by LE guys to extract the maximum RMB! I am genuinely interested how you found out that this law exists.

I hope that some other posters can add to this thread as I think that it is important to accurately assess our risks and make rational decisions regarding mongering activities.

I was equally lucky having found an outcall just walking late night home on the street and passing by. Out of what impulse I turned around and she did too.
Chatting a little and I liked her right away, but was tired. She gave me her mobile and I called next night. After 3 years I still see her mostly overnight.

Just to set an update. We had to hide 3 saunas on our page today for at least one month (and we not even charge for it). My contact told me, the "sauna weather" is very bad this days, because after the raid last time the police got a lot of pressure to "copy the success". So many places not sure any more how safe they are actually, so I would be a little bit careful the next 4 weeks, because if even the boss not have self confidence about his status, I also would not be too sure. My filter for the "status" is often, if the boss or good friends of the boss are in the location. Than it's obviously safe. If he has a lot of reason, why he do not be able to show up, I prefer also not to go there.
Nevertheless, let's have fun.

My regular place for the last year has been Baliya Sauna which is 700 for 90 minutes (I've been there at least 20-30 times), I can go there 2.5 times for the price of a Kangding X girl (3.75 times if you count it by hours! But this girl X75 (who I think is maybe already not there anymore) and all the other X girls which I haven't had a chance to try yet but saw in the lineup. These girls are smoking hot for a start, young, beautiful girls, the kind of girl you walk past on the street in Shanghai and turn around and go "holy shit, I wonder what it would be like to ever fuck a girl that hot". No idea if they all would be the kind of GFE service I had with that one, but someone else mentioned a similar experience with another X girl there. Are they worth 2.5 sessions in another Sauna, it's a real tossup man, I'm debating that hard because you're right it's ridiculously expensive. But I'm seriously leaning towards yes. I think I need to give at least one more X girl a shot to see if there's some consistency to the service to match the hotness though.

Just the other day my buddy and I arrived in Shanghai. We are staying at the Sofitel which is right off Nanjing Rd West near the shopping area. We were headed back to the hotel and were approached my a female offering to help us find all the stuff we were shopping for at good prices. She took us to some small hole in the wall shops and we got all the shit we set out for. We had a nice tour guide. Her name on that day was Lisa. So Lisa carried all the stuff back to our hotel and we told her we wanted to go to a couple more shopping areas. She hailed the cabs and told the driver where we were going. At the end of our shopping Lisa suggested that we go to a lady bar to meet some sexy ladies while having some beers. A nice cold beer and hot ladies sounded good after a day of haggling. She hailed the cab and within ten minutes we were at the bar.
This is where I wish I could tell you exact address but I do not know my way around other than to say near renmin square. Hole in the wall place with basic sign above door saying "coffee and beer bar". Lisa came in with us and we were guided to a small room with a tv and booth style sofa. Mamasan brought in two girls and two beers for my buddy and I. Lisa excused herself to the rest room. Here is what happened after I left he said four dudes came into his room and one had a gun in his pants pocket. One dude demanded two credit cards and hotel key. He was forced to pay for a transaction of 17,000 rmb by entering pin. They also took pictures of room key and made him sign a sworn statement that he enjoyed his "service". He said even though he had 2,000 rmb cash they weren't interested in that. As soon as he got back to hotel we called credit card place and cancelled transaction.
Like I said I don't have the exact place but hopefully this story puts some of you on a heightened alert. Be careful even with tour guides.
