Final thoughts
I had a blast in Jakarta. If I return, I would probably stay at the Grand Mercure hotel up north. The Century park hote was fine, but the Mecure looks like its in a better location for the clubs I visited. The big plus being, there is a Transjakarta bus stop directly in front of the hotel. If I remember correctly, I think Malioboro was across from the Mecure also. I do agree with the other posters who said that the Indo girl have the best ass's of all the Asian countries. But not only do they have fine ass's, but the young girls I had, all had nice firm tits. I know most think because the girl is young she should have firm tits, but that is not alway the case, especially in Mexico. I have to admit, I had a hard time reading the receipts I got from the clubs. Basically whatever price the mama san told me, I figure if the bottom line was close to it with drinks and all, no problem. The only thing I could figure out was for the drinks and tips. I didn't get many photos because at Malioboro they ask for you camera at reception. At Alexis, if you change into shorts, the robes they give you have no pockets. No place to hide the camera. Finally, just from being so high, I forgot to snap a few pictures.
One question I should have asked before going, if you don't use the spa, does that half hour go into your room time? Also for newbies that plan on taking the Transjakarta bus. When the bus stops, there are three doors that open up. One in the front, one in the middle and one at the rear. Problem is, some of the bus stops only have doors for the front and middle. The first few times when I noticed this, I sat or stood near the middle door. That is until I knew which stops had the two or third door opening.
Finally, I had a great time here and that's just scratching the surface. Brazil is still my number one destination but after this trip, Jakarta has become a close second.

The lack of doors on the bus is to give you an authentic Indonesian travel experience. Don't forget! It's the journey, not the destination, even if you did have your heart set on getting off at the previous stop. Transjakarta is great but beware of pickpockets. The MO is to surround you and then get you caught up in the crush when the doors open, hands start wandering around your pockets.
Grand Mercure Harmoni is certainly convenient. Writing from the lobby there right now. Had a Fresh 19 yo last night. First day at work at one of my and Jakarta haunts. Oh so tight!
OS.
You don't need to wait for a bluebird taxi. If there is ever more than about 3 people in that line I just keep walking another 25 metres or so, turn right, and take the stairs up to the departure level. Grab one of the many bluebirds that are dropping people off. You might have to pay Rp10,000 ($1) to security as a 'parking fee' if they ask the driver for it, but who cares.
It is not without risk for the taxi driver. I once saw a security guy rip off the airport-taxi sign of the windshield and I believe that is something serious.
It is not without risk for the taxi driver. I once saw a security guy rip off the airport-taxi sign of the windshield and I believe that is something serious.
I've seen that as well. I've also tried that where no taxi would stop out of fear to be caught picking people up on the departure level (they are not supposed to do that), but that was years ago. I don't think they police that as much as they used to. I always just book a Goldenbird. No need to wait in any lines, and you get a bigger car (I normally get a Kijang Innova). It's a bit more expensive (250k), but not much.
I had a blast in Jakarta.....
Great trip report, thanks.
About Classic: they do open before 6 pm on 2. Floor. Some of the hotter girls may not come too early but 5 pm onwards is fine in my experience. They have a sign on the entrance with 6 pm but that is related to your minimum charge.
Check your change from the check-out counter! I got short changed more often than not.
The mamis can be a bit pushy. If I want to sit quietly for a while I tell them I just finished a round or am waiting for a specific girl. Girls always seemed to be willing to do more than I was willing to do *o*.

Frida
I'm not in Jakarta at the moment. A buddy of mine tells me Top Gun was shut down for a special birthday party for Frida on Friday night. I personally think she's been the best looking girl on the blok during the last 6 or 7 years. For her to be able to shut the place down on a Friday night, she must have a sponsor these days, if not a husband. Does anyone know her story? Is she off the market?
First Time
Hi All,
Just got back from a trip to Jakarta. First off, thanks to all the contributors, especially Mighty Spearsman for his advice about Kartika. I was going to use the service of JAD until I heard he isn't doing his touring anymore. After reading back to the start of the year, I think I did okay.
Thanks for the shout-out, happy to help, and I'm glad that you got to experience the soapy massage at Kartika.
Day Five
After dinner, took an express cab back to Blok m and top gun. On the way there, I saw a bunch of people eating on the sidewalk. I guess the street food here is good. It was not to far from the restaurant. I'll have to try it, if I ever come back.
I also noticed, the girl I was talking to at Dee's place, was now in Top Gun. I guess they just go from bar to bar. I stayed for about 20 minutes then walked out. Fortunately, a pusaka taxi just dropped some people off, so I got in and called it a night.
The first paragraph above is the one sentence that I would disagree with. I strongly encourage short-time visitors to Jakarta to NOT eat the street food - too much risk that you are eating something that's partially spoiled and/or fried in cooking oil that's been doctored. The main reason so many people eat street food is that it's so cheap, and their stomachs are more used to it than your stomach is. I'm sure that at least one poster will write a post disputing this and claiming that they eat street food all the time and have never gotten sick, but why take the risk and spend 1 to 2 days out of a one-week visit sick in bed? Be careful!
Your last paragraph reminded me of my first visit to the Blok M bars, some 9 years ago, with esteemed Senior Member Menteng as my guide. We spent about 30 minutes each in several different places and kept seeing the same girls in each bar. I ended up taking home a young lovely who I had chit-chatted with in three different bars. Great customer service, and I also remember her pulling out a uniform top from her bag in the morning and putting it on, as she was going straight from the Mandarin Oriental to her place of work (Carrefour or similar).
I had negotiated 350,000 as the LT fee before taking her home, she then asked for an extra 50,000 rupiah in the morning as taxi money to get to her job. While she probably took a local bus or van to her job instead of a taxi, I didn't mind because our time together had been great. You can tell this story is 9 years old by the lower prices!

I don't know Frida, but I do know the guy whom was paying etc. Without risking embarrassment or exposure, he is guy from West Australia that used to be very visible on the Blok. I saw him for the first time in ages in the's on Wed night, but the pool tournament was on, maybe he was playing.
He comes and goes to Jakarta and also has had a long on again off again relationship with Frida, according to the girls on the street.
On another note there was a Jl Paletehan night festival outside on the street on Saturday evening. All the bars had little kiosks outside with staff in fancy dress. As the stage was set up outside Gelael, needless to say the Sportsman, Everest and Moonrider stalls had no customers. In fact the whole thing was poorly attended unlike the events of years ago.
Cheers.

He has had a long on again off again relationship with Frida
I think many of us have over the years.
Thanks for the info. I'm glad to hear she's done well. I haven't been with her in many years, but was surprised to hear she had such an elaborate party. Good on her. There aren't many girls on the Blok over the last 15 years or so who I would rate as attractive as Frida. She's a looker. I've always wondered why some guy hasn't taken her off the market yet.
Attached is a photo of her. She's the one in the black and white dress.

New years
Arriving on Dec 25th initially for a weekend. Is it worth staying over New Years eve, what's party like?

I will check with a couple of the girls to confirm I had the correct facts and names, as its easy to mistake an identity.

BLOK M. Day 1
Hi.
This was my first day in Indonesia, it felt a bit different in Jakarta, I don't know why. ! Visited the most famous BLOK M pub Top Gun. Very loud. Lot of WG's. All in range 0 f 6-7/10 scale. Had a chicken basket along with beer, felt a bit awkward, as I was the only person having food there. Most were having drinks and playing pool. The whole pub filled with cigar smoke. Finally left the place as no one was so striking. On my way out a wg approached me asked 'want to take me. Mr' , I said 'why not' (7/10 fair with cat eyes). She quoted 700 k IDR for ST. I laughed and said you can get for 350 K IDR elsewhere. She didn't budge and I left the scene. Only the next day I understood why she was charging double price. Its just because of english skills. Almost 90% of WG in Jakarta don't know english. Except 'where are you from Mr'. However Blok M is a different place, here 90% know atleast understandable english. Thats the reason for double price when compared to other bars. Anyways I had to spend Day 1 alone in my bed dreaming of Indonesian Beauty.

Just stay at arrival level and go to either Silver Bird, Golden Bird or White Horse lines, which are usually max 2 persons, and take your taxi there. Let other people wait for a slightly cheaper taxi.
