I can barely handle listening to Spanish language music. Which usually doesn't have much to say. Its been said that Brazil hasn't produced much in the way of science and intellect, but they sure hit out of ballpark when it comes to song and dance.
Anyways, I am curious what some would think about visiting SP on the way in and out of the country as a layover, or does it deserve more time when weighed against the glamorous and fabled Rio. I understand that domestic flights are cheap, anyways. SP is huge, so you would either have to go to place near the airport which is not known as a mongering hotbed and little documented or travel into the city, visit one arbitrary locale and hustle back to the airport. Neither f those situations in any way shape or form represents "seeing SP".
My advice, since you asked for advice, go to Rio, explore Rio, take your time. Then schedule a trip to SP at a later date where you can also take your time. Both Rio and SP are great mongering destinations, but neither should be rushed if possible.

Think I could see enough of Rio and get tired of it in less than two weeks (this requiring a side trip)?
BTW, you seem a cultured man, so I am curious what are the better cities for clubs with good live jazz and native Brazilian music? If I could spend an afternoon enjoying some fine bunda, followed by a satisfying meal and end the day in a club listening to Bossa Nova over a nice cocktail, I couldn't be happier if I was to suddenly fall over dead.

I remember my first time to Brazil and my company tried to scare the hell out of all of us so we wouldn't leave our rooms. Fuck it. I sneaked out and went to Centaurus and Balcony. I'm not going to live like this. I haven't had a problem with a cab or Uber. I have even used the bus to and from the airport. This is just my $. 02.

If I were coming for the first time I would do Rio and maybe do a short stop in Sampa if I could get a local like AltoBomGusto to take me to a few casas. I like this so much that I would considre something like flying into Rio and staying X amount of days then taking a flight up to Sampa and staying 3 or 4 clinicas and maybe a boate and then leave for home from Sampa. I just think you need more help in Sampa because it is not geared for tourists like Rio is.

So I took a mega chance and flew my Unicorn (remember Thifany my perfect ten from Fazendinha?) to London and it has been spectacular. We are both admittedly um pouco louco since we had previously only known each other for 5 hours total!
It was a mega hassle with flights (she's never been out of the country before) but wow what an intimate experience. Our mad chemistry made any awkwardness melt away and we are just having the time of our lives. It is such a joy to experience London through her eyes. She is like a giddy school girl and I love it.
I continue to believe Brasileiras are a Breed apart. Her zest for life is a thing to behold. I feel lucky to share it for a few days.

I'm sure she was thrilled to travel like this.[/QUOTE]There might be some theoretical legal violation for a US guy to arrange for a foreign lady to fly to a non-US country for travel / sex that he pays for, if the funds arise from the US, but no practical problem there as long as she is 18 or over. The laws against prostitution do not travel with a US guy unless she is under 18.
The difficulty I was talking about was the tendency of US Immigration / Border Patrol to heavily question ladies arriving into the US alone. We have learned a lot from the stories of Montreal escorts touring the US, of which there are fewer every year due to many of them being banned. There is actually a prohibition in US laws for women entering the US who have worked in the sex industry (even legally) during a period of time preceding that entry. US Immigration / Border Patrol actually has databases of Canadian escorts who advertise in Canada and spends a significant length of time and effort matching those ads / photos to Canadian escorts who advertise a US tour. They often pull them aside for questioning, look for condoms / sex toys on the way in, and for money on the way back in bag searches. When confronted with agents who show them ads, websites, evidence, etc. , most agree to a temporary ban from entering the US.
It is pretty fucking unbelievable that US Immigration / Border Patrol spends its time this way. It is not political as it has spanned several Presidents. Obviously it picked up in scope after 9/11 and the increased funding for the agency.
The entry point is the practical issue. When someone enters Europe for vacation, they say Welcome, even if the traveler is alone. Quite a bit different when entering the US, where single travelers, particularly women, are often targeted for further screening.
I have simply told guys I question the wisdom of putting there future in the hands of a scared young lady being grilled in a room by experienced TSA interrogators. If she is promised no legal problems for just signing a form stating that Mr. Smith, who is all over her email and text history, purchased her plane ticket and promised to pay (maybe with a deposit) $XXX for a week of sex. Mr. Smith could get charged with some federal felonies.
Compare this to the almost 0 percent chance of him ever getting charged with a minor state misdemeanor for booking a US escort who screens her customers, and I have just always told guys I think it is unwise to fly Canadian (or other foreign escorts) into the US. Just my opinion, and bad things don't always happen, but it is a reasonable thought pattern. I think US guys should either go to the foreign country themselves or book a local US escort who is safe from law enforcement scrutiny charges a lot and screens. A lot of US johns are really lousy at evaluating probabilities, and often choose a method, such as an inexpensive local lady who does no screening, that greatly increases their risk. The screening protects them, even if they give up personal information. And flying a foreign girl in is really risky unless she is very savvy with her story if questioned.
But meeting the foreign lady in a neutral country wouldn't generate the same level of risks for the US guy.
