Let's put things in the correct order here. First, when I went to AC 13 years ago for the first time, a bar owner was shot dead in the bar. So what, this is AC. AC has always been the wild wild west. Second, those who get kiilled, most of the time, have something to do with a business deal gone bad or they pissed someone off. Let's face it, most of the bar owners in AC or white guys (I have nothing against white guys) from another country using Filipinas to make money selling the girl's body. It is a dirty business done by dirty people who, from time to time, get killed over it, most of the time regarding money. Do not get me wrong, I am glad these guys supply the girls, but the fact is, these guys do not give a sh_t about the girl or me. They just want to make money, period. I am not passing judgement, but it takes a certain type of guy to be a pimp.

Third, normal guys going there to get laid do not, most of the time, have a problem. And last, the number of murders in the Phili on a yearly basis is far far less than any western country. In fact, the USA has more murders in one month, then the Phili has in one year! This is a fact, check out the CIA website on country details. Also, the AIDS rate is far far higher in the USA then the Phili (this is just a free extra fact). When my parents sent me to Los Angeles to attend college when I was 18, I was shocked! Gangs that will even kill cops. Drugs, and tons of murders. I had never heard of the word "drive-by" unitil I lived in L. A. For those of you who do not know, gangs just stay in the car, drive by, and shot at people or other gangs. In one case, a 6 year old boy was killed while he was eating dinner. Yap, this is America! I told my father,"these people are crazy here, I want to come home!"

So before anyone talks so much about the murders in the Phili, just remember that in the western countires, the murder rate is 7 to 15 times higher, on any give day. I am providing this info not to put down the USA, or any country. Just that, first time readers or newbies should understand the overall facts and truth. Also, again, I am not passing judgement or any guy who works as a pimp. How can I, I have been a buyer of the female services offered for a price.

- Poverty is rife in the Philippines with the average Filipino earning $5 per day (a majority earning less than $2 per day)

- Transparency International ranks the Philippines in the bottom quarter in terms of government and police corruption.

- The Philippines National Police is severely underfunded, understaffed and undertrained.

- The Philippines is fighting an insurgency against Communist and Islamic rebels that has lasted decades with no end in sight.

You don't need to be a criminlogist to predict that, in such an environment, there are greater safety concerns in the Philippines than your typical Western country.

I agree that, with basic precaution, it is safe to monger in Angeles City. But data does not support your assertion that life is safer in the Philippines than in America.

My concern with your post is not about the dangers of Angeles City, but that you fabricated information and thereby gave travellers to the Philippines a false sense of security. Your claim that the murder rate of Western countries is 7-15 times higher than the Philippines is utterly baseless. I'd wager if you conduct a survey, most tourists will feel more nervous touring the Philippines than they would in the United States.

Of course there are shitty parts of the United States. But the shitty parts of America are far smaller than the shitty parts of the Philippines.

Rate per million is one way. Another in numbers of murders per day.

USA about 45 per day.

Phils, about 18 per day.

I have visited and worked in quite a few countries, and the only place where I have been held up at gunpoint, in my hotel room, and robbed of everything of value, was within a few blocks of the White House and the Australian Embasy in DC.

The only place where I have felt fearful for my safety was in the Bowry area of New York city.

I'm not trying to picking on any particular posters here. Both sides of the view have made some good arguments and some bad arguments in my humble opinion. There are TOO MANY VARIABLES to make a real comparison. Comparing New York City's murders to AC / Clark is NOT a good one. 300, 000 to what. 8,000, 000. And where do the murders take place. Mid town Manhattan? No. The BAD sections of Harlem, the Bronx and Brooklyn for the most part. The NUMBER of murders in the Philippines is less because it's 1/3 the population. There's good and bad sections / neighborhoods in many countries. For the most part I know the ones to stay out of in the major cities in America.

Several posters have quite observantly noted the "COMMON SENSE" picture of this whole argument. MANY of the murders are in AC / Clark have been people involved in "OTHER" activities than the normal mongers would be involved in. Drugs, bars, bargirls, etc, etc. Don't get drunk, don't get TOO stupid, don't [url=http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140][CodeWord140][/url] off any locals, stay on the main track, don't walk the LONELY roads in the wee hours or go to the "BAD" areas, etc. And you should be okay!
