Neurosynth. Just wanted to say like XXLs original post, I found your response to be interesting and clearly argued. Thought provoking (apart from labelling XXL as a throwback).
You are right that overall in society the sexes will be thrown more together. Maybe more work areas done by men will become mainly done by women.
Certainly in the last three decades mixed working has become more bitter, not, in my opinion due to women fighting discrimination, but due to women fighting battles largely won by their courageous predecessors. These current battles are mainly about issues faced by successful women, not the issues of low pay which is more relevant to the vast majority of working women.
At the same time I see an increasing tendency amongst men to return to social single sex interaction to defend against a vague feeling of loss.
It saddens me because I remember a time when there was a general reduction of division of the sexes and an expectation of full equality.
I don't put this forward as a developed theory, just as a set of reflections which might or might not have some validity.
This topic has turned into a load of presumptions now. But I suppose that is what we do. We presume what is going to happen and find that to be fun.
There are so many ifs and what ifs that adding a maybe or a I think in most sentences here regarding what will happen might be in place.
But yes, it looks like the sex war is picking up in pace. But a black swan event can toss things around.
