i spent two nights in the wonderful town of udon thani, and, cheeringly, found things a little looser than my last check. soi 2 is limping along with doors a half open and more coming and going in the street - last time it was pitch black and even the touts hid in the shadows. they have even built a new front to the one from which that part was torn during the bad times - it is i must admit rather nicer.

the house with the new front continues to provide the best looking girls on the soi, in my opinion. service was ok, but as always in inverse proportion to the appearance of the provider. in that house i believe the young lady managed to extract an extra 300 baht from me for the bareback, in addition to the now apparently standard fee of 400 paid to the manager.

so, all in all, things continue to limp along in udon - not as many girls as in the hayday, and the scene is a bit more rep001tered, but you can still get laid for 400-800 baht. for those who insist on the 300 baht deal from the old days, it can still be had, but only from the old streetwalker ladies on the road which leads from robinsons to the train station (i believe it is prajak). udon is somewhat unpredictable in terms of service, but if you figure a 50% success rate you will be fine. i often save my load for the next one if a girl is lousy.

I just came accross a very good review of this massage parlour at another website from last year. Asia Massage is located accross from the Forum Shopping Center in a small alley in the Chonburi City (between Bangkok and Pattaya).

The guy who reviewed it says that this place is virtually unknown to foreigners. Only Thai guys frequent it. But a good number of the ladies there are in the '8' category. There is not that much competition for these ladies. Their prices are quite reasonable (800B for 1. 5H soapy massage with full service available for an extra tip). And these ladies have a good attitude too.

Perhaps some of these Thai ladies have never been with a farang. And getting to do it with a farang satisfied their curiousity a little. Hence the good attitude.

This sounds like a good place to visit. But a lot can change in a year.

Once in a while you read advice about strict morals in rural Thai villages and the importance of proper behavior there. All this is true to some extent, at least in terms of public behavior. But I've spent some time in rural Thailand (Isaan). And I've discovered that P4P goes on just as much there as in any other place of Thailand.

Koh Chang is BYO - not much available there (old field reports back this up too). I think it has something to do with the "park status" - it's a "national park" IIRC

I promised a report from Hua Hin a month ago, so finally got my act together. I just spent a night there to wait for the Lomphraya bus to Ko Tao. Wasn’t my intention to get any girl either. Betong has got day time and night time pleasures.

In the day you can visit the street beside the Betong Merlin Hotel (I normally stay there!!!). This street is has karaoke bars that are in full swing with girls dancing naked on the tables (you can take them to your room for a price). They start 2pm onwards and close around 7pm.

You can also get a motor-cycle in the day to take you to some of the street brothels located about 15mins from Betong merlin Hotel (cant remember the road name btw its near a hotel with a late nite disco).

In the night you can visit the streets nearby to the Betong Merlin. Just walk down from Merlin, to the street, turn left walk straight for about 10meters, turn right, walk straight for another 10 meters, then there will be karaoke bars along the streets in the area to your right and straight.

Also opposite the Merlin there is an all-nite disco with a strip show. This disco starts around 9pm and goes on until the wee hours of the morning.

Finally I have recently heard from some Betongites...of a new place on the way into Betong town from the border. It is resort on the left of the road. Here you have everything...hotel room, girls, karaoke etc.

So pick what you prefer and enjoy brothers...

How much it cost staying at Merlin a nite?

I was just in Chantaburi for 1 day and 1 night...I had no original intention of going there but ended up staying a night on my way back from Cambodia (took the Pailin crossing, coming from Battambang) and I was glad I did. It is about a 2 hour drive north east of Pattaya and well worth a visit as it is a lovely little town centered around a really nice lake.

Anyway enough of the lonely planet nonsense and on to the whoring. I stayed at the Eastern Hotel near the lake and as chance would have it the hotel is right next to the Chantaburi red light area. There were 2 or 3 massage parlours and 5 or 6 karaokes. The biggest and best massage place was called Marina and it is very close to the eastern hotel. It had about 12 girls all of good quality and in the 19 to 23 age range. Also in this vicinity was a short time hotel with girls available.

I had a 20 year old girl from Marina and she was from Mae Hong Son.
