What the OP should have done was to immediately demand to complain to the manager and then go ape shit and demand an apology. HK has a strong control structure. The last thing they would want is a lone wolf scam artist waiter rocking the ship, when the rest is struggling to make a living.

I remember reading about a tourist in Mexico who treated the hotel employees poorly. When he left, he later found a photo of a maid cleaning the toilet with his toothbrush. They put the photo for him in his suitcase. I wonder what the meseros will do to your drink before they bring it to you? Hotels and bars in Mexico are notorious for tainting drinks. . . No way a maid snapped a photo then went and paid to get it printed then returned and stuffed it in the guy's suitcase while he was still a guest. And I didn't think I would explicitly have to write this, but I guess I do. Don't order from the mesero that you just a confrontation with!

Treat them the same way you would treat any server / bartender in a restaurant. Don't be rude to the people handling your food and drinks. Doesn't matter if you are in Mexico, USA or anywhere in the world. That being said, if you do have to say something because a server is trying to pull one over on you, best to be funny / witty than rude especially in the Mexican culture.

What I say when I know I am being hustled is "no mames wey". Mames means to suck, but in this context it doesn't mean the physical act of sucking, but more like when something is not good. I. e "That movie sucks".

When I say "No mames", I am telling the guy, to not suck / be lame. Adding "wey" adds the casual vibe. "Wey" is what you refer to male when you don't know their name, IE. "Bro", "Buddy", "Dude".

This always results is a laugh with both the mesero and the lady, because they don't expect to hear from a tourist. I worked with plenty of Mexicans in the restaurant industry, one thing I learned is they can go all day casually insulting each, as long as it's funny. When you cross the line and straight up insult a person especially in front of their peers, you are asking for problems.

Was out of the country for a couple weeks, looking forward to going back to have sex and fun with pretty Mexican chicas. Went down with a couple bros Saturday night.

Hong Kong was already crowded at 7:30. Lots of guys were in drinking, gawking and top-tiered girls were already at work, flirting, smiling, drinking. All tables and stools were taken. It was hard to walk around the club and find a seat. A couple strippers in a row were heavier than my taste. Only one girl of the two in the lesbian show was fairly attractive.

Could not find any of my favorites. Was just bullshitting with a few guys I know. Lydia is back. She shed some baby fat and was as lean and beautiful as before. But she rolled up her long, shiny black hair into a bun on top like a serious mom hehe. Tiffany now has dark brown long hair. She was going arriba a few times. Yselle was drinking with a few guys. She's as cool as a bro with her pretty face, but is too skinny and hairy for my taste. There were many new girls dancing on the bar with pretty faces and perfect bodies. No other clubs in the world has such a big and steady collection of hot young girls, smiling, flirting, having sexy fun time with guys every night like HK.

The club was way overcrowded, hot and stuffy. I had to sit near the front door for some fresh air. Shared a table 3 guys who just flew in from Armenia and checked into Cascada. They ordered a bottle of Don Julio and reveled in the huge selection of young, sexy of chicas to party with. Hong Kong did hit on a very good business model, offering an upscale club with a good selection of hot girls for all sorts of sexy fun imaginable. Its reputation is widely known internationally. Why in the hell can't other Tijuana bars copy HK's methods and cash into this huge profit?

I went with the bros to other bars, but eventually went back to HK to gawk hot young girls. Unlike the other bars, HK is worth buying drinks to hang out to have fun. Lots more guys continued show up after midnight, trying to get in the club, some bringing girl friends. There was a steady line 10 deep waiting for security pat down all night.

Had a fun, sexy time in HK Saturday night.

You do not even need to use the waiters if you do no want, just go to the bar directly. This guys just likes make strange and outrageous comments, not sure why.

About 6 months ago, I took my wife and two female in-laws to Mexico City. (ergo, no mongering).

At a restaurant, El Mexicano, the waiter tried to add fraudulent charges to my bill.

To remedy the situation, I used a tactic called "broken record". (A name which will only make sense to vinyl enthusiasts). Simply put, I did not engage in any debate in response to their arguments. I simply repeated, over and over and over again, "I did not order it. I will not pay for it. " (in Spanish).

I did not raise my voice, or say anything that might escalate the anger intrinsic to the situation. And eventually, they caved, taking the un-ordered item off my check.

Agree with Wombat, this is the best way to resolve conflicts and protect your rights and properties. Just calmly state your positions to the offenders and give them clear evidences and reasons to back up your positions, telling them any leverage you potentially have, or can think of, lie if you have to hehe, to win the confrontations, including elevating your grievances to higher management or owners, even calling in law enforcement, or making complaints to the proper authorities. Don't let unfair and unjust offenders get off easily.

Bullies and criminals would just laugh at weak people who let themselves easily duped and taken advantage of, but they would respect strong people who stand up for their own rights, confronting them with reasons and civilized manners. If the offenders will not make amend, by all means let them have the worst punishments fitting their transgressions. A lot if not most service people in other countries, including Asia and Europe, in fact in all countries, are poor, rough, ill bred, uneducated, the lowest segments of the population. The crooked ones would look for nice, soft, dim, weak people to take advantage of. Don't let them do it to you or others. Insist on your rights but don't get angry or hateful and let your emotion color the situation. Use your reason, knowledge, and skills to teach them rights, wrongs and good lessons in morality and civility.

Some of the most distasteful encounters I had in past overseas travels have been with taxi drivers. Most were always trying to cheat or manipulate for a little more money. Taxi drivers in most countries are the nastiest people to deal with. They just destroy visitors' trust and good wills with their greed and bad manners. You can quickly judge the predominant quality and character of people in any country by the conducts of their taxi drivers. Cabbies in most countries failed badly in my experience, except those in Japan and Argentina. These guys are professional, polite and serious about their services. Argentinian cabbies would always make the sign of the cross when driving past churches. US cabbies may well be the nastiest and most aggressive offenders on the planet. If I could not reason with the drivers, I would write down their IDs and car numbers, and tell them I would file complaints with their bosses. That would usually get them shaken as they know they would lose their jobs, or they may get whacked if the cabs companies happen to be owned by or associated with the Mafia hehe.

As in the US, countries in Asia has positively changed in my recent visit with the speed, ease, economy and hassle-free built into ride hailing services. There are no more rude haggling before and nasty whining, beotching after the rides with cabbies in the past. Local transportation in most Asia countries are now quick, cheap, hassle-free, making travel pleasant again. Uber and Lyft are banned in most parts of Asia; only Grab is allowed to operate. Didi has monopoly in China.

Don't let dumb, little service people hassle you. How you resolve conflicts may well earn their respect and make better people out of them.

This is the great thing about Uber, they have leveled the playing field.

But IMHO, their level of robbing is like $1-$5 tops. Less than a cup of coffee. The way I see it, we are being raped by upscale corporate and banks all the time. Think of the ATM fee you pay, ticket change fees etc. Etc. We are being robbed for way more all the time and we accept it without much complaint. So why bother with the peanuts these taxi drivers rob? These people cannot even think of robbing you of bigger amounts, that's how petty they are.

Though, I myself use UBER, GRAB, LYFT or DIDI depending on which country I am in, sometimes I still use taxi and don't care about these minor robberies.

If, however, a confrontation occurs, keeping kalm and logical is the key, as well put by yourself.

One involves dishonesty, the other does not. Two totally different and unrelated things. I for one believe people should be treated how they deserve to be treated. A thief is a thief, and they do not deserve respect. I don't believe in joking around and cozying up to a thief. I don't believe in treating thieves with respect and reverence. A thieving mesero knows exactly what he is doing and that is stealing. It is quite different than a waiter at a USA Restaurant that if overcharged you, it was almost certainly an accident. If I came home and found a burglar in my house, I'd grab the nearest deadly object and try to bash his head in. Some of you would probably joke around with the burglar and invite him to share a slice of pie and coffee.

I fully agree with Clam.

When someone deliberately violates or commits transgressions / crimes against you or someone, you have the responsibility to society to make sure the perp is properly punished. If not they will go on abusing others.

Don't be afraid of and don't let these stupid low lifes run over you unpunished.

Went on Tuesday night and man the chicas are back for spring. A lot of women and less guys, that's why I avoid weekend madness and get Vip deal on a room. So I had a few drinks and watched like 2 dozen hot chicks. You guys remember Ximenes that super tall Paradita outside for several years? I have not heard her been mentioned on the HK thread but she's been in HK for a year now I think and she was there that night. She is beautiful but I can't pay hk prices when I used to see her regularly for 300 pesos LOL but yes HK was hopping that night. I had a room at cascades on the 8 floor. They need fix there crazy elevator system that has like 3-4 going from different sides of the building and only one goes to floor 7-8. Classic Tijuana quick fixes.
