Kid see, do you ever worry about your girl pretending to be one of these girls looking to hook up with you, and when you respond yes, you get busted. Thats the one thing I don't understand about facebook. It is so easy to make a fake profile and friend your boyfriend or husband to see if they will bite when it comes to an affair. Your picture is on there so they know its you. How do married and taken guys hook up with all these girls on fcebook with no worries of the SO finding out.
Does anyone know the exact location at the airport where one can pay and get a ride to Ipanema / Copa? I usually grab a taxi, but I am curious and would like to try the bus option and see if it is worth the hassle in order to save the $.

Eventually (not THAT far really) you will see signs the say something to the effect of "ONibuS PARKING ONLY" and there will probably be one or more new looking large "tour" type buses parked there. Ask the attendants which one goes to Copa and get in line.
I almost always use the bus to Copa. Its only real downside is the time it takes from the airport to Copa. Since the route goes through San Cristavao (sp?) , past Novo Rodoviaria, Centro, and on to Santos Dumont before heading to Copa / Ipanema, depending on traffic, it can take a fair amount of time. But it's a comfy bus.

Exit the arrivals area at either Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 and ask anyone for the Real Bus. Lines form to the right-most end of the taxi lines. Cost is R$ 12 to Copacabana / Ipanema. Busses circulate with a scheduled frequency of every 20 minutes. Travel time is 45 min to 1 hour depending on traffic.

I hope it gets back to 2. 5 or above in a few months, then everyone will have cash to spend on the GDPs or "non pro" brasilieras. I don't know KC but if he can get 10 freebies a week and pay 6 9k for first class tickets, more power to him. I have had freebies and I have paid my fair share for pussy. On the freebies, was it my looks? The nice restaurants? The upscale apt with air and comfy bed? Or the fact I am such a cool dude? Who knows LOL. I do know this: many times a supposed freebie ended up costing me more than a GDP in terms of headaches and money spent whether in Santo Domingo, Bangkok or Río. Lastly these women are human beings with feelings and yes theyo do on rare occasions fall in love or oftentimes will go a on regular date just to be treated like a normal girl for a night.
In my 20s I used to travel to Rio on buddy passes until I discovered the benefits of elite airline status. Using miles to upgrade or using SWU certs keeps you from paying these ridiculous Biz class fares.

I am always looking for a deal hell I am cheap when it comes to many times BUT on certain things I like the best hell look at Puffy / P Diddy the press is giving him hell right now because his son is going to USC to play football on a full scholarship and Diddy is worth millions BUT the bottom line his son had the grades and was a good football player and earned the right to go there and the school offer him one. I went to Balcony 3 nights on my last brazil trip, and there was one fight. The next night there was this crazy girl that had it out with the police and another girl fighting later that same night. I never went back. Balcony girls are what you guys will end up with that marry working girls once they get a little older and lose their looks.

São Paulo is much better for mongering now, the clinicas and the privês offer you very good choices. And prices are much better than in Rio.

I haven't been to SP in a few years but had a good time the couple of times I was there. At that time SP prices were a lot higher than Rio. I remember the better looking girls at the clubs asking 500 reals. I'll have to read up on SP as BA is only a 3+ hr flight from Brazil.
I've wandered the Balcony area a few times this trip and the talent was hit and miss. I'd see a few nice looking girls and a lot of the nicer looking girls were never there very long, getting picked up within 10 minutes of arriving. If you saw someone and were interested you had better make your move fast or risk losing her to someone faster. The talent did pick up as the night wore on, usually after 1am, and my good wingman, who can go all night long, has seen some Barbarella girls there around 4ish. By that time I have been asleep for awhile LOL! He did mention a film crew there the other night.

According to my own experience GDP in São Paulo are less mercenárias (money hunger) than their paulistana counterparts. Rio is basically a touristic city. With its hord of unexperienced hobbyists with virtually no knowledge of the language or the culture. And the GDP can ask for higher prices because they know that they will always have gringos to pay the bill.
In São Paulo the gringos visit places like Café Photo, Scandallo, Bomboa which have prices similar to those in Rio (from R$300$ up to R$1000). You can have very good session in São Paulo for less than that! As said ABG, privê and CLínicas are very affordable; for less than R$150 you can have a complete hour (in privês) and less than R$220 (in CLínicas).
In SP, GDP are less mercenárias because they know that the competition is verocious. They will do their best to keep a "regular" customer with them. Some GDP on the top of the list even offer special promotions to keep their clientele. I'm thinking, for example, of Carol Pierre (she raised her prices two day ago from R$300 to $R350) who offers a free TD after four TD with her (if I'm not mistaken).
With free lance GDP, in the 250$R/$R300 range (there are also very good GDP at R$100 / R$150) you can spend a lot of time if the chemistry between you and her is good and if she is not a clock watcher (or a mercenária).
A couple of years ago, I compared hobbying between Rio and São Paulo like fishing an alevin in an artificial pound (Rio) and fishing a sword fish in the open sea. It's easy to hobby in Rio, the crowded places are easy to find and your pleasure is guaranteed; In SP, you need to find the good places, you still have to do some work (use your charm) to seduce a GDP and have extra mileage. As I like hunting, I still prefer SP and, frankly, there are less gringos. (even if I'm one of them)
