Orange store in Santiago to buy SIM card is 100 pesos I have the bill right in front of me, no minutes. The Orange store by the Texaco in Sosua I bought a phone with minutes for under 500 pesos. Keep an eye out for the cheap phones street vendors sell for around 200 pesos with minutes, I only ran into them once and passed like a idiot, I should have bought a half dozen.
Yes, I went to the Orange store in Sosua with Tempoecorto and he didn't have his passport with him, but they said there was some kind of deal for tourists that you paid a deposit but didn't need to show a passport. The multilingual girl in Orange is seriously cute, but must have dozens of long distance novios in love with her.
Anyway, they put the SIM into the phone he provided and he was in business. On the day he left he went back to the Orange store to return the SIM and collect his deposit. Unfortunately I missed him as he was diverted into a preflight massage therapy session, as often happens when you are trying hard to get from A to B in Sosua, but end up with your pants round your ankles.
