I think you are right, this is different. Directed by the district attorney, managers and directors caught them " em flagrante" (in the act of a crime) and sent to prison awaitng trial. The charges are new to me,"incentivating prostitution". If found guilty they could face to 2 to 5 years.

R$290, 000 was found at Centaurus. If a deal was possible they could have done it on the spot. The manager of Monte Carlo has also been charged, after a raid on 28th May.

Rudy Guiliano has nothing to do with this. Some years ago they talked about the possibility that he would work with the state government, but nothing came of it. At the same time they also said that Tony Blair would be involved with the organization of the olympics, just PR stunts I figure.

What is happening now is the work of the state government working hand in hand with the city government, I think it could change things a lot. Obviously, they know there is no possibility of stamping out prostitution, the intention I believe, is to move the boundaries.

What happens to the "clients" who happen to be in the various termas when one of these raids "goes down?"

if balcony gets rid of the drugs and **** gdps they will be ok. event handlers love local meeting spots and bars for discrete prostitute encounters.

many stopped going to rio once club help closed down because many went there just to hang out in front and inside of club help at night and hang out at the beach by day so many of them stopped going to rio altogether hell most of the guys i know that did that they never even been inside of a terma, as many have found out the girls don't really hang out at the beach anymore like they use to i guess because the tourist have stopped going to rio like they use to.

How many times have these termas been closed and reopened? From the massage parlors to the termas. If you're new to Rio you may be shocked, but if you're a vet of Rio you know arrests and raids go on often. And the termas have nothing to do with the Olympics because only monger-tourist know where these places are and exists. I know of Americans "and" Brasilians who've either visited Rio and or lived there, and not know of Copa hoes, termas or casas. Meaning Olympic tourist won't know of these spots or wouldn't randomly find them either. Plus, they have high priced event tickets to miss for pussy. So let's not overreact by the rumor mill. Bribes are meant to be paid, so tell the owners / managers to pay what they owe.

prostitution is legal in brazil. operating a house of prostitution (termas) is not legal since the owner, manager and employees benefit financially from the acts of prostitution of another. the only reason the termas exist is because the government looked the other way. that apparently has stopped. previously they were busted for failing to pay bribes. this time it is different.

as for balcony, the owner needs to sell it while he can sell it as a going concern. the story all over the internet, tv and in the newspaper was a warning. he was setup. if you are **** or a drug dealer are you going to state that on tv? when you are operating an undesirable business in another country, you do so at your peril. when they want you gone, you will be gone.

the closing of help was not the end, it was the beginning. right now there are cities in the us which are more tolerant of prostitution than rio. also, where there is a lot more activity often at cheaper prices.

LOL. I'm here for the weekend and was just going online to look for early entry coupon for Luomo and / or MC. Then realized luomo's site is shut down and was just wondering what happened and wonder back here. That totally screwed up my Sunday plan. Too bad termas is all I know in Rio since I don't know Portuguese at all to venture into massage parlors. Do you guys have any recommenced massages / private in / around Barra? They shut the place down and questioned the girls. All of the customers got dressed and lined up in the bar down stairs for about an hour wait. Then one by one, the Federal Police (guys wearing suits with badges around their necks) took down every single customers information from their personal identification before letting them go. As usual, I had a color copy of my passport and visa. The lady Police agent wrote everything down, then let me go my way.

No problems at all in my situation. I was a bit concerned during my last flight to Rio and before entering immigrations. The Federal Police is there at the window where you show your documents. I was somewhat curious if they had my information in the system as far as what hapenned last year. But it was nothing but smooth sailing.

I was actually very calm due to what a friend of mine told me before the flight. He said not to worry becuase the Brazilian government is so disorganized, its really doubtful they would have info. About me in their system. Then again, why would they want stop a tourist who is going to spend plenty of time in Brazil, and is going to spend quite a bit of money during his stay.

Anytime you bunch the room and service and all funds don't go Directly to the GDP you're breaking the law. Every rule, fine or work regulation to the GDP is patently illegal. The Termas are supposed to be gentlemen's clubs that allow independent contractors to work there and service the patrons in their private rooms with massages and alike.

was told several times, to this day in fact, VM is legal and Termas are not. WTF! Something about how the rooms are rented. There is this +50 year old GDP constantly on the news and papers raging about Terma abuses yet camped out at VM handing out condoms and marketing for it.

Hello ISG!

Looking for some advice. I will be traveling to South America this summer with a group of 4-5 guys. We have a one night layover in Rio and in Sao Paulo. We were contemplating renting an apartment and having some beautiful Brazilian Pros come join us rather than going to the Termas. Does any one have a recommendation on an apartment to rent that will 1.) allow this activity and 2.) accommodate the whole group?

I was also thinking about renting 2 Hotel rooms for the group, however I think it might be difficult to get 4 Brazilian women in the hotel with 4 American men. My past experiences have proven this to be nearly impossible without a lenient door man. Am I "Spot-On" with this?

Also, Based on my review of the forum it seems that SOLO play is the preferred method of mongering, however in this case the only option we have is with the group. If you have TIPS for us please share!

If the government was able to close every terma, would anyone here ever go again. I say no. I don't see spending 900 on airfare. 60 a night for an apartment so I can go to the beach and call escorts there. Doesn't seem worth it to me. Can someone in Rio give a accounting of how many termas are closed of the top 7. The sad part is this is happening as the real is getting weak.

Of all the Termas in Rio, Centaurus is the most hated by locals anyway. The ultimate tourist trap. They overcharge for everything, so it is no surprise they found $290, 000 lying around. For those who L O V E the place, don't worry. As locals say, well placed brownbag here and there and BINGO, surprise, surprise, business as usual. The only place that bothers me when they raid is 4 X 4, period. Any of these other places in Copa and Ipanema can go up in smoke right now and I wouldn't miss them.

They all have been getting extremely cocky, extending their overcharging ways by raising prices and not paying off more those who allow them to exist in the first place. It is a show of force as always and the pecking order will shortly be restored (As in who gets how much more in monthly instalments). Trust me, these guys would not afford their lavish lifestyles if they didn't look the other way, pinch their noses, and have their hand out at the same time.

Don't be surprised if they start charging even M O R E money for services and entrance fees all over Rio, but especially Zona Zul. I predict BR 200 entry for Centaurus and a minimum of BR 600 to session there, About BR 100+ to ENTER the other spots in Copa is right around the corner, MC, Solarium, Lluomos etc and BR500 minimums are being discussed.
