Your comments are very refreshing and informative. And though you are right that the show-off mentality may be more pervasive in China, the take-home message of your story seems true everywhere. The hotter a girl thinks she is, the more entitled she feels to the contents of your bank account without much effort. The really expensive providers are never worth it, except for bragging, even in the good ole US of A.

And what I find irritating is that mongers tend grossly overrate their experiences with these providers, maybe out of a desire not to appear to have been taken. Unfortunately this ends up perpetuating the scam.

I was only tested to get it the first time and never again. I am not sure if it is needed if you change jobs.

For those of you that said SNG was expensive, they have a discount deal on 4-5 girls. Some have dropped their price to 999 RMB for an hour. Some have taken their one hour price and promised 2 hours.

This visit ended up visiting the MP mentioned a page back, tried Kang Ding again (location was more convenient), did a little bit of scouting, and Judy's.

1) Judy's -- Went on a weekend night, arrived around 10:30-11 pm. Was packed, but ratio was very good. There were a lot of girls sitting around looking bored, but later as the night went on around 12-1 am started dancing. Band was pretty decent. As soon as I walked in a found a spot, a Chinese girl latched on. Says she is from Qingdao and the only Chinese girl there. She was nice and a good sport, but English not so good and not my type. 3) Decided to visit Kang Ding Sauna, which was open despite upcoming winds. I figured it was the type of place that you could cover up quickly. This time was much better than my first visit. Much wider selection, a little more activity though the facilities are still kind of sad and gross compared to Macau and Ming Hui. Lots of girls available at the lower A, M, Q levels, I selected an M girl who was from Haerbin, and who gave me a sly look in the fishbowl. She turned out to be a ton of fun in the room, and she ended up having an O as well (or was a fantastic actress). Gave me some excuse about it being against policy and fines / getting fired for sharing info though.

And even if you know their building number, it will not work, because the entry to the backyard is not in the exact row where this number would you expect to be. Cost's me half an hour to find it when I first went there to discover this place last year.

And actual it is common policy, that the guards don't give out any information and pretend to know nothing about a sauna, as long as you not know the "key code", what mostly would be a contact name in there. If you would have asked him for a specific person working there, he would probably have guided you to there.

In Baliya sauna (I think this is the one you talk about), there is always a guy outside at the street as part of their "pre warning system". So a upcoming police raid will be realized very early and they have a lot of time to bring their guests out till the police finally would arrive in the service area.

Starting from today in China will hold an important holiday because of the "Commemoration of 70th Anniversary of Victory of Chinese People's Resistance against Japanese Aggression and Anti-Fascist War". This is a very big and important event for China, combined for example with a huge parade in Beijing on the People's Square.

Because of that it is already announced, that many saunas will get order to close in Shanghai this days (the festival end on 5th). For example in Ming Hui district probably 90% of the sauna clubs have been advised to close their doors.

Jing An Area (for example Kang Ding Sauna) till now have no plan to close, but also can happen on a short note, so for all guys who plan to monger around the next 3 days, better check, if your target location is still open before you go over there.

As for increased windiness during this commemorative period, it seems counter-intuitive. I would have thought that LE will also be enjoying the holidays themselves. And it will look bad in the news to have naughty joints busted (hence admitting to the existence of such underbelly) at this time when the government is trying to show off the best face for the country. But I do not think in the same way as their officials.

There advantage has been a great service with a very low rate of "disappointments" (the service finally depends on the girls performance, and here you always will have a rate of "bad service providers", especially if you are a foreigner and not able to communicate with the girl.

We used to stop over in this sauna on our nightlife tours, just because there only one of 50 guys got bad service, which is pretty less compared with other locations in Shanghai.

But frankly we stopped that, after they start to charge a "shower fee" of 168 RMB for our tour guides (which not joined a session). From my view not very reasonable, that our guides get charged for bring a group of new customers over. So better be prepared to pay that too, if you not find a girl in selection you like and leave without book a girl.

By the way, they also have a second location which is a little bit more upscale (but still much lower level than for example Jiang Li or Tang Dynasty) where they also provide Nuru massage. Which is not on the menu in Ba Li Ya sauna, just because they have no "wet rooms" for that.

Last year DG during Chinese new year, this year it was heavy raids on Minhang with places shut down the week before CNY and repeated raids during CNY and after.

I guess its their way of showing to the mass they are active. As news papers will talk about it.

All these sauna managers use websites like sh419, aishi, shlf, and such to advertise, they put qq weixing and phone numbers all of which can easily be listened to by the police. So knowing manager names is very easy since its public knowledge.

As for guys posted outside of saunas for early warning, don't forget that the police knows about them too. As well as all most the warning systems.

When they really want to successfully raid a place they send undercover normal cloth cops from another city or even Beijing itself they use these undercover people some in the rooms, some at the entrance / rest rooms to quickly act and bust people inside in the middle of a session. Outside people come last to bring numbers / backup and surround the place.

The only reason saunas stay open is their protection. The day the reasons to keep them open are lower than those to close them, they are dead meat no matter how many warning guys they have and how much of a maze the place is because when its clothed police from elsewhere that is already inside, its just too late.

This is why so many saunas have been closed in the past.
