Colleagues, just how safe is SP?

I'm planning an exploratory trip of the region and I like what I've been reading. But somehow I have this idea that as soon as foreigners land in Brazil, they immediately get robbed and beaten, possibly kidnapped and murdered. Which is not something I enjoy.

This far I've gathered that I want to visit Mexico City for one or two of the parties (if the schedule allows), Guadalajara because it's near CDMX, somewhere in Colombia (*** where) just to see what it's like, and possibly an island or two. Thinking about adding SP to the list as well.

Also, what would you recommend as a beach destination with good girl availability for the few days before and after the New Year? I like to have a sea nearby to meet the New Year.

You are into the beach, you better go to Rio de Janeiro. Mongering in Rio de Janeiro is good but the options are limited.

There are good girls and bad girls in every state, GFE attitude, you can find in Sao Paulo as well as in other states. It depends on the girl and how you act around girls.

Remember there are lots of middle class and wealty Brazilians who wish to be insulated from such nonsense as well. Personally I don't see Sampa as any different than BsAs.

I've been here for the 10 days on my first visit and have never felt uneasy. But I'm living the life of a wealthy man, taking Uber everywhere, going to the established clubs and clinicas, renting an Airbnb in Itami Bibi. I also hired altobomgusto for a couple of days to show me the ropes but am now out on my own. Worth it for me.

Depending on your taste as always, the level of girls looks and service is as high as anywhere I've been.

And, any Christian country will have a severe drop off as the holidays approach. For a mongering and beach vacay, I'd think Thailand might be better?

I concur Rio and Thailand would be good beach / mongering options. Rio is expensive over New Years (Reveillon) but everything goes up during the holiday everywhere especially airfares. Rio now is kind of a beach vacation with mongering on the side. Not too long ago, it was a completely integrated tropical fantasy. A Thai beach / mongering vacay can be narrowed down to Pattaya, so-so beach, tons of mongering and Phuket, nice beaches, some mongering. You can integrate the beach and mongering in Thailand. The Dominican Republic might be a good New Years beach destination that doesn't break the bank.

Sorry dawg but your activities are not exclusive to people with fat wallets. I can afford to hire Altobomgusto and have contacted him before my trip. But I missed my connecting flight so I had to consider other options.

Other forum members have dropped so much knowledge on me that I don't really need to hire anybody and I barely know any Portuguese. I wanted to visit Brazil since 2007, I finally went in 2016. I can't miss what I never experienced so while some forum members lament the increase in the Real over the last decade, there are still bargains to be had that are mainly used by the native population and unlike countries like Japan the locals are willing to share and thensome.

Speaking of the exchange rate when I went it made it very favorable to use Uber, Airbnb or stay in hostels for an extended amount of time.

Maybe I'm an idiot but I walked Sampa at night, late at night. I would notice if anybody was following me. I walked to one of the true hip-hop / rap clubs in Sampa, about 2 mile walk from Pinheiros district which was where I was staying.

I'll never understand the whole personal safety thing.

Mexico for mongering. Purely for logistical reasons, it's the shortest flight time for me at the moment. And time to time there are amazing flight deals. PV yes Puerto Vallarta, I've gathered enough to know that I probably wouldn't enjoy it there.

Thailand and anything else on that side of the world is simply too far. It'll take me a week to recover from the jetlag and then another week from the jetlag on return. Not fun. I'm getting too old. So that's why I'm sticking to this time zone.

The "beach" - I don't really need the beach scene with girls in the bikinis. I don't even like to swim. It's enough for me to know that the ocean is nearby, ideally to be able to look at it from a few feet away, walk on a civilized boardwalk with some restaurants. I liked the beach in Cozumel and La Paz but obviously mongering sux there.

Rio, I am kinda scared of it. Dominican Republic, I have an impression of it being a trashy touristy place. Could be totally wrong though. I'll probably end up just picking up the cheapest ticket when the time comes.
