It's happened to us all to some degree.....
Now, this woman has filed charges against me in Brazil alleging slander. It’s a false charge, but it will cost me between $10,000 and $20,000 to defend myself against her accusations. I have more than enough proof to back up my statements against her, but it may cost me $20,000 to clear my name. Slander is a criminal offense in Brazil, carrying a sentence of 6 to 24 months and civil damages are possible as well. I find it incredibly arrogant that this prostitute rolled me for $40,000 USD and is now trying to cause more damage to my life because I tried to inform the public about her. I have serious doubts as to whether I would receive a fair trial in Brazil.
DnD - you certainly have balls to share your sad tale with us. As has been stated several times, we have all been there to some degree or another. And it's not an issue exclusive to Brazil, that's for damned sure. It's what these girls do for a living and they are good at it.
I had a chat with a Brazilian attorney friend of mine about your legal matter and (just like a typical lawyer) he says that without additional details he could never speculate on the merits of her case. However, all things being equal, she is in all likelihood launching a peremptory strike against any legal action you may be considering to take in the recovery of your $40k clams. He went on to say that while legal fees to clear you name may well exceed the value of the money lost, there's no guarantee that you will be any further ahead than if you do nothing. His advice was to lay low and stay under the radar. No judge wants to be associated with a case like this and the only people who have ANYTHING to gain is the lawyers. Don't throw good money after bad.
Remember - lawyers and GDP's have more in common that we may want to admit ;)
Not so hard to find a picture
If you got a pic of the GDP, post it. Gives us more info.

With a little Google knowledge you can trace down the website that D&D made "in honor" of the girl. (took me less than 30 seconds). On the front page there is a nice pic of her, and then there are 5 more on a second page.
Sperto said about D&D: "Your girl filed a criminal charge against you. You deserve that. You shouldn't have mentioned her name and home city on a public forum. That was hitting below the belt."
My first reaction was something like, oh fuck, man, Sperto, this is way to harsh. The man got hurt, and he just posted his experience here. But I must say now that I agree. The dedicated website is taking it a step too far.
On the other hand, D&D, the Internet is a double-edged sword. And you want to be very careful how you use it. You can take my advice or leave it, but if I were you, I would delete all of the contents of the website you created, including all of the pictures. Websites can be traced back to their creators!!!
D&D, I had initially put your post into the ROD thread, because I found it instructive and informative. Then I found your first post on this forum, from 18 month ago, and I linked that too in the same post. But now I have deleted my ROD posting, because I do not want to contribute to people finding out who this girl is, and who you are.
D&D, you can PM me, and I can explain to you how I found your information. Hopefully, this will help you to erase all traces leading to the girl and leading to you. Obviously, I do not want to post the details here.
WARNING for all of us: the p4p thing is a business, and it's make-believe. It's good while it last, but you have to respect the rules:
1. Enjoy it while it lasts.
2. If it goes down, let it slide.
3. Never give more information than you need to, and in particular not to a GDP.
4. NEVER EVER NEVER use your real name or anything that can be used to trace you down in real life.

Another way to look at it
If you make the mistake of falling in love with a GDP and later getting burned, it's important to look at the positive side of it and then just let it go. All of us who have had such an experience vary in exactly what we experienced, so I'll just use my own case as an example. I was involved with a GDP from 2000 to 2004 and made several trips to Rio primarily to see her. (I also visited the termas, of course without telling her, so it wasn't exclusively to see her.) I am embarrassed to admit that we talked about getting married and in fact considered ourselves engaged (or at least I did). Then she suddenly takes off for Italy--where she still is--to work as a prostitute in Bergamo and Milan, leaving me to feel like a fool. However, let's look at the bright side. What did I get out of that relationship? All of the following:
--4 years of great sex;
--never having to do anything alone, i.e., I always had a companion for dinner, movies, travel, and occasional concerts at Teatro Municipal;
--the experience of having a family, at least temporarily, since the last few times I visited I stayed at her place and got to know her kids, who I had a great time with;
--last but not least, the joy of being in love, even if it didn't last.
Now let's look at whether or not it was such a financial disaster. I never tallied up how much I spent on her, but I would estimate about US$15K. And I never counted how many times I had sex with her, but let's say it was 150 times (which I think is about right). So dividing the money spent by the number of fucks, it came to about US$100 per fuck. A bit steep if you're a frequenter of Vila Mimosa, but not so bad if you're used to the upscale termas. Bottom line: would I rather have had the experience, even having it end the way it did, than never to have had it at all? Yes, without a doubt. Will I ever forgive her? No. Will I ever make the same mistake again? No, because, although I have good GFE experiences with GDPs since then, I have learned never to trust. Ever.
That having been said, I have to disagree with a few things that have been said since DND posted. First of all, I totally disagree that he was wrong to expose this beeyutch for the lying phony that she was. It was she, not he, that got exactly what she deserved. I don't think any of you would think it was wrong to expose a con artist or a thief. Well, that's exactly what this girl was, so kudos to DND for exposing her publicly.
Finally, I can't see the harm in letting thr girl know your real name. In fact, I'm not really clear how it can be avoided, if you're going to write to each other. I've told every GDP I've ever been with my real name, and no harm has ever come from it. Just my two cents worth.
