Bogota Reports

I am sure you have read my field report on my trip to Bogota in April, so there is no need for me to repeat myself, but the best place and advice I can provide you from my experience, is during the day, go to central, where there is the energy of many people being out and about. Go into stores, acting like you are interested in buying some cologne, e.t.c. and this will be great way to start a conversation with a non-pro, or if you see another clerk in a tienda that interests you, tell her she is beautiful, and let her know you are visiting the city, and are interested in knowing where the hot spots are, and if the vibe is there, ask her if she is single, or if she would be interested in having a drink later. This is the strategy that I had to use while in Bogota. It is essential you develope that chemistry, as conversation gets the girl, at least the non-pro. As the old cliche goes, if you do not ask for the sale, you will never get it. I found meeting non-pros at night to be very difficult, much different than any other area of the world I have been in. As I stated in my field report, I met my first non-pro at the cambio in the airport, and I used the same formula to get her that I spoke to you about in this post.

Over the course of the last four years, I have met a number of really nice girls. As my Spanish improved ( I started at 0, and am really quite good now), I got to know them better.

I have come down to Colombia six times and visited a bunch of girls I had met on Curacao.I just came back from BOG a week ago.

I will agree with your observations partially. Not all Colombianas are angels. Not all of them "have never done this before". They can be just as bitchy and scheming as AWs. However, I have met some really good ones, and the times we had when they are not working have been HOT, HOT, HOT!

Keep in mind, the "foreigner factor" is not that high in Bogota, the number of tourists has doubled. As always, speaking Spanish, and dressing well matter a lot.



Do you know anyone in Bogota? if you do, I suggest just going out for fun to a popular area like Parque 93, and see what develops. If nothing then the pro scene in BOG is hopping.

I agree with UrbanWild completely, not just in Bogota, but all over Colombia, meeting non-pros in the daytime is the best way to go, from my experience.

From store clerks to waitresses, to bank tellers ... I even went out with a police chica I met in Medellin, she was a traffic cop.

Obviously the better spanish you speak, the easier it will be. Being friendly with a smile, and dressing OK (doesn't have to be fancy) helps immensley.

Below is a report from recent 4 day trip to Bogota:

Hotel:
Stayed in Suites Real 85 Carrera 18 No 84-56
Great location. Right near zona rosa and a supermarket to stock up on goods.

Bars:
Go to zona rosa or parque 93 on a friday or saturday and you should find good company if you can speak conversational spanish. I found the women not to be as pretty as medellin, cali, or ctg, but this in my opionion.

Massage:
Visited abejitas in zona rosa. The talent was ok, but I prefer Medellin for this activity.

Weather:
It was cool weather, but coming from the north, I found it to be quite comfortable. It did rain in the day, but maybe this is seasonable.

Strip Club:
There is a red light district here. I visited El Castillo and had a good time. Lots of places to visit in this area near El Castillo.

I hope to contribute to this forum as much as I travel to different locations. This forum has helped me plan trips with accurate information.

I will be in Cartagena in 2 weeks, and it is in my schedule to be in Medellin for the first time in August. The reason I made the statement that Medellin is a better place for non-pros, is based on extensive reading I have done, and from the experiences shared with me, from close friends who presently have spent considerable time in Medellin.

It does seem that the money/sex issue is just impossible to deal with in these relationships. The girls are desperate for money and for a normal life. They want both in a novio. They see it as reasonable for a novio to buy them things but to us it resonates with being taken for a ride. So it is just impossible to know true feelings and nothing is pure anyway. It seems logical that it cannot end well but then love is far from logic.

The story is over, I have not planned to visit her. Bogota is a big city, but don't know what will happen if I bump into her. I would be quiete uncomfortable if she discovers I'm in Bogota, especially if she meets me while I'm with another girl. Her brother is some kind of "bodyguard", whatever that means in Colombia. :eek:
