The poster is a newbie who had actually taken the time to RTFF and read the board, and he zeroed in on two massage places that match what he's looking for, and instead of helping the newbie (or ignoring him), you make fun of him. Why?

For what it's worth, I'm a big fan of the Kartika Spa as they are the only reliable body-to-body nuru spa place in Jakarta. And most if not all ladies at Kartika will use a condom, and if you have a 2-girl session (highly recommended for under US $75 total tip included) the girls may change condoms when you change girls.

And maybe Classic is the type of place he's looking for as well. Some posters love barely-legal girls even if they are starfish. Not my choice, but each to his own.

That is all depend what are you looking for if you want good service from older and average girl then go to Kartika or Maribaya, if you want good looking younger girl go to Classic and hotel travel it is hit and miss here on service, I was in Kartika a few month ago girl are average at best this place is going down hill fast I have not pick a girl here in 2 year.

Well, I went to Kartika. As far as I could tell, none of the girls were even close to 18 years old, much closer to 30. The best I saw was a girl I'd rate at about a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10 (then again, that's always subjective, isn't it?) I may be mistaken, but all of them seemed to be hard core hookers who had been on the game a good while, not virgins. They were very aggressive as soon as I walked in the door. I had to push through them to get to the bar and order a drink. I then took my time and tried to find my gem. I asked if there were any 18 year old virgins there and the girls and staff laughed. I've found though that Indonesians love to laugh, so that could mean either yes or no. I decided to wait a while to see if any top honeys would come down after a session. (not a sex session of course, because I am looking for virgin, non pros) I am not saying there weren't any, because I may have just been unlucky with the timing of my visit. However, I didn't find any there who met my criteria, so I headed elsewhere.

Bottom line: On this occasion, my attempt at finding gorgeous 18 year old virgins who would pay me for the privilege of servicing me was a rousing failure.

But I would still recommend that every guy tries a soapy sandwich there at least once. The girls may not be gorgeous and they may be far from virgins, but that 2 girl sandwich there is a unique experience.

In contrast, the five-stars in Bangkok can be real deals, and it is not unusual to pay between $100 and $140 a night at some of the good ones (but not all of them).

I suspect the difference between the two cities in this regard reflects that Jakarta attracts a lot of foreign business people on business and does not have an overabundance of quality hotels; in contrast, Bangkok seems to attract primarily tourists (without expense accounts paying for their trips) and conferences (with participants often on limited expense accounts) and is saturated, maybe even over-saturated, with fine hotels competing for the tourist dollar (or Euro).

In Jakarta, it's 150 a night, in Bangkok it's 190 a night. The Kempinski in Jakarta is also listed at 150 a night that night and it absolutely blows away the JW Marriott in Bangkok. I don't find the 5 star hotels in Bangkok to be all that cheap. I think the main hotels that are overpriced in Jakarta are the Mulia, Shangri-La, Dharmawangsa, Grand Hyatt, and Mandarin. There are a lot of good deals in Jakarta on 5 star hotels.

Here are some prices of 5 star hotels in Jakarta that night.

I have always said that you don't find 10's in Jakarta. If you want 10's, go to Venezuela. But the abundance of cute, shaggable girls in Indonesia is remarkable.

But if one is talking about true five-star hotels (as opposed to hotels that guests might give high ratings when taking into account bang for the buck) many on your list do not qualify in my book, nor in some of the travel websites. The true five-star hotels in Jakarta include IMHO those you list initially (as being overpriced) --Mulia, Shangri-La, Dharmawangsa, Grand Hyatt, and Mandarin--as well as Keraton at the Plaza, the Fairmont, the Four Seasons, Raffles, the two Ritz Carltons, the Kempinski and maybe the Hermitage. If one wants to know what five-star hotels cost in Jakarta, [I]their[/I] weeknight prices would be an indication.

I just checked the price for a room this Monday night for some of the hotels on your list: the Kempinski is $267 this Monday night in contrast to the $150 rate you saw for this weekend. And the Gran Melia was $145 for this Monday night, the JW Marriott $198, and the Intercontinental $229, all from the same website you consulted and substantially more expensive than their weekend rates. The true five-star hotels will usually be more than these rates, with the exception of the Kempinski's.

Having stayed at three of the hotels on the five-star list I just gave, all three were better significantly than the JW Marriott in Jakarta, and much much better than the Intercontinental, which I had a terrible stay at. On the other hand I'm not a great fan of the JW Marriott in Bangkok although it is convenient to Nana, which I suspect is one of the reasons they can charge what they do. But I have noticed the hotel prices at the better hotels in Bangkok seem to have gotten higher in the last six months, at least among those I favor and/or follow their pricing, so the days of paying in Bangkok around half of what I pay in Jakarta for a true five-star hotel room might be coming to a close although this remains to be seen.
