Medellin Nightlife.

As a rule of thumb, when it comes to nightlife in Medellin, the farther away from Parque Lleras you venture, the less likely you'll be sharing the bar or club with other foreigners. All venues are within Medellin city limits, unless otherwise noted.

Sample Week.

New to town and want to start partying in Medellin right away, regardless of the night? Options are limited early in the week, however here are a few suggestions to help you find Medellin's party people:

Sunday – Karma (reggaeton, hip hop) or Tropical Cocktails (Sabaneta)

Monday – La Octava (rock)

Tuesday – El Eslabon Prendido (live salsa)

Wednesday – B-Lounge (crossover, ladies night)

Thursday. Bendito Seas (crossover, ladies night) or GAR Bar (live salsa)

Friday – Dulce Jesus Mio (crossover) or Cien Fuegos (live salsa)

Discotecas (Dance Clubs)

The majority of the discotecas en Medellin play crossover music, which means you'll hear a mix of different genres throughout the night, including: salsa, reggaeton, vallenato, cumbia, merengue, bachata, popular rock, and electronica.

Barrio Colombia.

Amarna Unica – Carrera 43G #27 – 10. Egyptian-theme with bellydancing performances.

Indiana Bar – Carrera 43G. Indiana Jones theme and go-do dancers.

Karma – just off Carrera 43G, around the corner from Indiana Bar. Reggaeton only.

Kukaramakara Club – Carrera 43G #25A – 58. Live band.

Luxury Discoteca – Carrera 43G (opposite Trilogia). Reggaeton only.

Mia VIP Room – Calle 25 #43G – 25. Modern Miami-style club.

Prizma Discoteca – just off Carrera 43G, around the corner from Indiana Bar. Reggaeton only.

The End – Calle 25 #43G, on the same block as Mia. Reggaeton & electronica only.

Trilogia Bar – Carrera 43G #24 – 08. Live band.

Bendito Seas – Calle 10A. Thursday is ladies night: 20, 000 peso cover for all you can drink (beer, Aguardiente, or rum) until 12 am.

B-Lounge – Carrera 36 #10 – 38. Wednesday nights are ladies night. 20, 000 peso cover. All male groups may not be allowed entry (ie. Bring a few girls).

Tropical Cocktails – Carrera 48 #65 Sur – 95 Avenida Las Vegas, Sabaneta.

Salsa dancing at El Eslabon Prendido.

Salsa Bars.

Cien Fuegos – Carrera 43F, #18 – 158, Barrio Colombia. Live band (Thurs / Fri / Sat nights) and large wooden dance floor. No cover or minimum drinks Thursday nights. Friday & Saturday have a cover of at least 10, 000 pesos, plus you need to buy a bottle to sit at a table. There is no minimum to sit at the bar. This club has the biggest dance floor in the city.

El Eslabon Prendido – Calle 53 #42 – 55, Centro. (Maracaibo, a half block above Parque Periodista). Live bands Tuesday nights (5, 000 peso cover).

El Tibiri – Carrera 70 + Calle 44B, Laureles. About 5 blocks from the Estadio metro. Very small basement level bar. Hot, little circulation, tight spaces, and often crowded.

GAR Bar – Carrera 39 #8 – 58, Parque Lleras. Live salsa band Thursday nights (no cover charge).

La Rumbantela – Calle 33 # 76 – 132, Laureles.

Son Havana (Facebook) – Carrera 73 #44 – 56, near La 70 / Estadio.

Thursday night at 3 Cordilleras.

Other Nightlife Spots.

3 Cordilleras Brewery. Calle 30, #44 – 176, Barrio Industriales. Three great types of beer on tap – Wheat (light) , American Pale (medium) and Amber Ale (dark). Thursday nights draw a happy hour crowd. 15, 000 COP entry gets you 5 beers, plus an optional tour. Hours: 5:30 – 9 pm. The last Thursday of each month features a live band too.

Arte Vivo. Calle 25 #43G – 25. Barrio Colombia. Rock bar with live bands.

Bolero Bar – Carrera 67B, #51A – 98. A historic little bar known for attracting musicians, writers and artists visiting Medellin. The bar has published several books (in Spanish) filled with short stories by the bar's well known patrons.

La Strada in Front of Holiday Inn Express but upstairs has some clubs Divino etc, keep in mind near Palmahia Disco there is dozens of bars.

Mangos is closed.

One more IMPORTANT thing about the clubs: Always have exact change for drinks. Bring a variety of all the colombian money. I went to a packed club in Colombia with this girl and the asshole didn't bring me my change. Cost me 5 bucks. The place was so crowded, I couldn't find him again. He knew that of course.

Just playing bro! But honestly you can't pin down a night at a club in Colombia IMO. Just like in US of A, what is hot last week is weak the next.

My advise; use this situation as a plus! Go strike up a conversion with a pretty girl (food court at the mall is my fave) and guide the conversation to Discotecas! Ask what are her favorites, where she likes to go, when are the best night, what kind of music they play, are there any promotions, if she likes to dance, ask about her in general! Don't forget you are a foreigner, you are excused for not knowing ANYTHING about any club in any part of the city! If the conversation goes well ask her if she'd like to go and tell her she can bring a friend if she likes, say you're going to bring a friend too but them when / if you meet them there say he got sick or some shit like that. And yes you're paying but in Colombia? FUCK IT! Cover in Vegas is $150 for three people; Just to get in! For a $150-$200 you're balling out of control in Colombia! Once in the Club DON"T be cheap. But also be mindful of what is going on and what the girls are doing, you don't' want to get played either.

I know a ton of fellas both new and old to the monger scene are pretty clueless on "The Game" but it's true. In the States would you take a date out to a strip club? Answer: NO! Why? Because you went from cool-fun guy to Dirty-jerk-pig the second you rolled up into the parking lot & she now feels uneasy about herself and her appearance.

Privacy is also a HUGE and often overlooked aspect of getting you own spot. What if you meat a nice, cool, chica? There is no come over and I'll make you diner or any of that at CB1-2. Peace and quiet is at the mercy of all the other guests. I usually have to work when I'm down for an extended periods of time so I need to sleep early, get up early, make calls, skype, confrence calls, ect. How you going to do any of this when 10 guys are using up the bandwidth down loading movies and streaming music as they crush bottles of rum and beers? Imagine trying to speak with a client as the guy in the room next door is banging some chicas head up against the head board! Hahahaha.

In summation: First timers with little to 0 espanol skills should stay at CB1-2 to learn the ropes. Not an endorsement as I have never stayed there but it makes perfect sense or if you are looking for more of a party atmosphere and some heads to pal around with. (also get me Wendy's number or a girl who looks like her! LOL) Most everything is taken care for you.

For the more experienced or Espanol capable or who want a more private experience you should reach out to Mede Paisa (I have never used but good reviews of his service) and get an aprtment.[/QUOTE]

Hilly Billy 69 seems to have allot of knowledge about the night clubs, disco's. Question for him. Are there many working girls in the regular night clubs, disco's? My thoughts for sex machine 1987. Two orgasims in one hour at any age sounds like allot of work and hurry and probably not enought time anway. Consider two half-hour sessions split with a rest and refreshments in between. I like one orgasim waiting for the second session to have it.

When talking about the options for the first or second timer in Medellin in the context of arranging tours with Medellin Paisa or staying at CB1 or CB2 is comparing apples oranges. There are many discussions of CB here. Simply, it's a bed & breakfast that is frequented, especially in the afternoon, by many beautiful Paisa girls, many are university students. I recall CB1 has 13 rooms, and there are mongers from all over the world. Generally very interesting folks. Big Bad Boyd of CB2 is famous for his casa tours. CBs have their solid appeal, but if you happen to find a "regular" girl, she won't come back to the Mansion with you. All the girls know of it.

Medellin Paisa offers a very different service. First, he's not in Poblado, but in the real Medellin. All the people in his bario know him, and he is well known and accepted by the locals. Something that doesn't happen overnight. He will take you around Medellin. The real Medellin. And will help you find lodging, but to my knowledge there is no pecuniary interest in any real estate. If you're interested in getting to know about Medellin, the history and social norms, MP is the man. Really a nice guy. Besides, his having lived there for over five years has other benefits. Some of his amigas are top shelf. These are girls, just normal girls that work or go to a university, but are generally very beautiful. You won't see these girls at the mansion or in a casa. He can introduce you if you're not a jerk.
