When I had a chica pick me up at the airport in Rionegro, in July, we were immediately pulled over and she was questioned for 10 minutes because they thought she was an Uber driver.

I'd be really surprised if the cities immediately raise taxi rates by a significant amount. Of course there will always be taxistas trying to hit you with the gringo rates, but you'll probably only see a small increase.

Even most serious language problems should not be a barrier to state the name of the destination and check the correct price before leaving.

In Cartagena, at any hour of the day and time, I am literally surrounded by yellow cars offering a ride, and the price of a ride between Bocagrande and Centro is less than 2. 50 USD. In most European countries this is cheaper than a city bus ticket!

I don't think Uber is going to go away quietly anyway. Uber has a history of operating illegally now and apologizing later (paying the fines). Here is an article that suggests the whole situation is political and may blow over. The current government is very business friendly but due to recent unrest has given in to the taxi unions to prevent them from striking.

Here is an article about a service that is currently only operating in Bogota but probably will expand to other cities in the next few years, it is something to watch for since it will make Taxis more honest and safe.

I'm not sure why everyone is freting over transportation, look I don't speak a lick of spanish and I over paid, anywhere I was going it was 8000. Thats literal pennies, I didn't ask before and was fine paying it every time. If you speak spanish you could probably get it for 6000 but who cares. Uber is not common there and I would assume its more expensive. Cartagena is plenty safe just be smart.

Taxis are everywhere and I've never had an issue. All the prices are fixed between zones.

Taxis are cheap and in Cartagena and I could care less if I am getting ripped off for chump change. As others have stated they are also everywhere to be found, I have posted this photo as evidence before, this is in Laguito.

If you're referring to me since I brought up the topic, I'm pretty certain there's not any tone of tension or worry in my post. It was simply curiosity as stated in the post. Others have kept discussing it because right now, there's nothing else to talk about since most people aren't in CTG during the holidays.

Be careful of this chica, in fact, choose another. We set an appointment. She said she was in the Hotel Caribe, about 12 min taxi ride east of the walled city. When I got there, it was a no tell motel, the kind you drive your car into a garage and they close you in so nobody can see your car or Lic plate. The room rate was 35 KCOP which obviously fell on to me and I was ok with that. So I am waiting in the courtyard & I whatsapp her. She messaged back 4 min, then 10 min later, she messaged 6 min and still wasn't there 10 min after that. She finally shows up about 30 min after the appt time. I know, I know typical in COL. What she did was wait till I got there and then got a cab to the Caribe. Very standoffish, bad attitude, just not into the cita at all, not smiling, not talking, barely going thru the motions. She was the chica in the fotos. Not much to look at but just a perfect body, beautiful small operated senos, perfect little culito and nalgas, really a 10 below the neck and a 5 above the neck line which is why she doesn't have any facial shots on her anuncio.

So I struggle thru the session & finish with a really nice shot between her senos (the one part of the session that was good) , get dressed, lay 120 KCOP on the bed and she says "no it's 150!" I reminded her that her ad stated 120 & if she wanted 150 she should put that in her ad. She relented and said ok. So as I am checking out on the other side of the courtyard, she hangs back in the garage waiting for a taxi. The taxi comes and she gets in and leaves. The lady behind the window that I was paying the 35 KCOP to gets a radio call and then tells me that there is a bottle of water missing out of the fridge so I had to pay for that also. I don't know if this was a scam by the hotel staff or if she actually did steal the bottle of water from the stocked fridge in the room. Anyway, I'll give her a pass on the water bottle.

Anyway, as always, YMMV. She may be into you or just had a bad day. Just be careful of like I said earlier, choose another.
