Local Zen
SO I took the metro to Cinelandia, and walked on to 13 de Maio. 33. I called ahead of time to find out the number of the sala, it was 2414. So I get to the building, and get in line to get in the elevator. There about 15 people ahead of me. Those damn elevators take forever and they are not that big. I kif you not, I waited about almost 15 minutes for the people ahead of me to take their trip, and then I took mine. When I did get in, I understood why it took forever. Extremely slow. The woman attending the mangaging the elevator was pressing all sorts of buttons, and they would not light up. I look up and realize that it only goes up 21 floors. I am wondering about floor 24. Oh well, I am the only one getting out on floor 21. I look for the stairs, and up I go for the next 3 flights. I find it next to a lawyers office which has the door open and people inside chatting. Oh great, I am sure they know there is a working girl house next door. I knock on the door, and a cute gal answers the door, and expalins the prices (Basically the same as most places in Centro, e. G. 100r for an hour). It was rather warm in there. Only one garota available, it was Samanta (Solid rock hard body blonde, she must workout, but her face turned me off). I read a couple of reviews on her in gpguia, and it was a no go. So the gal in the front was not part of the menu, but she said 3 grils would be comming out soon. I waited a few minutes, and asked how long. She said in 5 minutes. 5 minutes in brazil is equal to 15, so I took off. As I walked down the 3 flights, and got inside the elavator on the 21st floor, all I could think on the ride down was. God forbid there is ever a fire in that building while I am there. Maybe I will check out next week and get a better look at the lineup. There are suppose to be 3 new additions to the line starting on Monday according to the receptionist.

Bitchmaps
FYI: Bitchmaps, which used Google to geo map Brazil's termas, prives, spa's etc is apparently no more. Got this message when I visited the site:

Fortunately, I saved bitchmaps KML file in my Google earth and can see all the info there.

Red light club?
The key is doing research on gpguia. Net and hotforum. Com. Br.
J.
Mirella Martins reviews are top rate, and you can probably get her at Red Light Club a new pseudo terma.
Can you say a little more about the pseudo terma Red Light Club? Where, how much and how "pseudo". There must be places popping up with some of the majors being closed. Not always easy to find. Thanks.

RDJ Termas
Just an update on terma closures. Some of this is based on rumor. Some is based on fact.
Facts: Stopped by Centaurus on Friday, expecting it to be closed. It was. It still has a sign posted on the door saying it is closed pursuant to such and such law. Monte Carlo is not closed. A few girls from Centaurus went there, but not many. Was there Friday and Saturday. Balcony and the attached Dolce Vita are still open.
Rumors based on direct statements from people who used to work there: First, L'Uomo appears to be closed for good. Girls were told last week to come by and pick up any personal belongings they had in their lockers and that it would not re-open. I don't know about this last part, but they were told to come by and pick up their personal effects.
Rumor: Centaurus was closed, at least in part, for not paying off the local cops properly. The press reports say that R$300, 000 was seized. One of the owners says it was around R$600, 000. Some former C girls are saying it will open again in a few weeks, but that rumor has been ongoing for weeks. The failure to pay local cops properly seems like it could be true, particularly in light of the fact that they raided many Ts and only a few were shut down, with no further raids since then.
That's all I've got. Take the rumors with a grain of salt.

Gigolos
Are gigolos that cater to females as widespread throughout Brazil as female prostitution is? I was talking to a friend from Sao Paulo last night. I have known her for at least 4 years and she has always been very conservative. However last night she was saying how she hasn't had sex in 4 years. I asked her about using toys and she was adamant against that, but surprised me when she offered up that she was thinking of hiring a gigolo. R150-R250 / hour. Compare that to 4X4. :
R: disse q sou diferente. Nunca me imaginei usando essas coisas. Acho q prefiro contratar um cara para transar. Assim e melhor.
R: mas vc iria ficar tranquilo comigo usando isso. Ja q e assim prefiro contratar um cara sarado para transar. Sabe q gostei the ideia contratar um cara. Acho q vou fazer isso logo.
Mr E: como? Contratar alguem?
R: sim.
Mr E: de onde?
R: aqui tem varios sites
Mr E: quanto custa?
R: acho que e um pouco mas q as mulheres vou ligar para saber.
Mr E: liga. Eu quero saber.
R: ta bom vou olhar aqui.
R: 150, 00 a 250, 00.
Mr E: porra. E caro nao e? Por 1 semama ou 1 mes? Rs.
R: por hora. Mas se ficar fixa ele faz mas barato

Back to Rio
Just arrived to Rio de Janeiro.
Hadn't been here for a couple of years. And boy, this got fuckn expensive.
The taxi, the phone, the supermarket. Everything!
Just passed by the Montecarlo at Hilario de Gouveia and it seems open. I'll stop by later.

Women don't have to pay for sex, and if they do, they are really ugly. Male gigolos are for gay guys. Talk to anyone that owns a escort business, and they will tell you its for gay men. BTW, Why don't you sleep with her?

First trip to VM!
First of all, thank you to all the people that made my trip to Villa Mimosa a pleasurable one. Without the reports of the senior members, I would of never got the courage to go based on what was said about the place. My opinion, not bad and not that great. Will I go again? Definitely.
I started by going down the street and looking into all the bars. Based on the advice of Sperto, I went into the U-alley couple times, took a seat, and watched the traffic go by. I had read the price was 25R / 20min, but someone I was with said because of the weekend it is 40R. I didn't question if that was for 20 min or 30 min. I ended up spending 50R for one hour, whether that was correct pricing I still don't know. My conclusion of VM is that it is super safe. Never did I feel threatened or felt my safety was in jeopardy in any way. It seemed all the guys there were there for the girls and drinks, and I didn't see anything to the contrary. I would go on to say that VM APPEARS and FEELS safer than the Sante Fe area of Bogota, which I go. Sante Fe seems sketchy, dodgy, and dangerous. I wouldn't walk couple blocks in that area. VM is different, it seems ok to walk. Overall the girls were not that good, but there were an occasional 8 here and there. Thanks to everyone that had posted before about VM, made me want to go and comfortable.

Red Light rocks
Can you say a little more about the pseudo terma Red Light Club? Where, how much and how "pseudo". There must be places popping up with some of the majors being closed. Not always easy to find. Thanks.
It's good to follow this forum, because I knew before hand that the termas in Rio were upside down: Centaurus is gone. L'Uomo is gone. And one good thing: Those girls have moved around, and you can find them for a lot less right now.
I had read a lot about Red Light Club in the local forums. It's a new club located downtown. Opened just a few weeks ago. Not exactly a terma. More a place where you keep your clothes, watch the show, have drinks, and take a girl upstairs for a very reasonable price.
I found this beautiful girl from Centaurus. Beautiful. Great conversation and great sex. All for less than 150 reais. And I remember paying three times that, last time I was at C's.
The place opens at 5 pm*and stays open until midnight. Here are the prices:
Entry R$30 + drinks. *
Girl + Cabine 40 min R$ 100, 00.
Girl + Cabine 1 hour R$ 140, 00*
Warning: Don't expect a replica of Centaurus. It's more like 4x4, but smaller and with very different types of girls: Big bundas, small bundas, morenas, blondes, popozudas, sophisticated and raunchy. All in a very tight space crowded with locals. Me? I had fun.
Data: Red Light Club. Rua Pereira de Almeida. 73.
Very close to*Pça the Bandeira. Metrô: Estacio.
There's more info at the local forums.

The old "73"

If you were in the neighborhood OK, but not worth an expedition from Zona Sul, at least IMHO. Now with the heat on for places like Centaurus and L, it is likely the quality goes up in some places. Girls got to go somewhere. But being winter, I expect a number have gone home to wait it out. There will be more places eventually. Maybe C and L reopen or they get replaced. The free market will prevail, I am sure.
Thanks for the review. Sounds like it is worth the trouble now.

It may be 160R now
After reading the boards, I think it may have just gone up to 160R per hour in the cabina.
Yesterday it was 140. Drinks really cheap.
Colourful but (it seemed) a safe area. A good galetos place on the corner.
Count another 30 reais for the taxi on the way back to Ipanema.
I arrived by Metrô. But I don't recommend it. At least by 6:00. Crowded as hell! Almost missed the station.

Place has like 1-2 hour waits for tables some nights. Sadly it is not a terribly accessible neighborhood by metro even though the stations seem somewhat close. And it's a little sketchy at night. I need to get back to 502 and 4x4 and 65 to see what new talent has ended up there.

Montecarlo here I come.
I just came back from Montecarlo and same story: Lots of Centaurus girls. I stayed most of the time with 2 girls called Gabriela and Fabi. It was good fun. Typical terma stuff. They assured me that Centaurus is opening back in a week or two. *
I went upstairs with Fabi, but the most outstanding thing happened when I came back. Gabriela came to me, kissed me and said that I brought her good luck. That "the mayor of the city" just appeared after I left with Fabi and bought a 500 reais bottle for her. I thought she was kidding me. But the rest of the girls all agreed. Was she putting me on? If that's true that's the most amazing story I have heard in Rio so far. Specially after the last raids.
