Barely a blip on healthcare strain and death in Germany. We've finally come around to what naysayers were falsely saying in the 2020, Omicron has fulfilled their previously misinformed assumption, only the old and sick are getting serious disease. Only restrictions remaining in Switzerland are masks in public transit and hospitals. Everything else, gone. Austria lifts restrictions on 5 March.

Not sure what the number of deaths in US have to do with restrictions in Germany or Austria.

I do not consider Omicron a serious threat in large part to the fact that most people in Western nations are vaccinated or have been naturally immunized. Largely, those getting seriously sick are getting sick due to their own accord and right to not get vaccinated. Hospitals have easily absorbed the surge of the seriously unvaccinated. 2000,3000, 4000 deaths per day in western nations, it's no longer a moral concern for me as these are the result of personal life decisions for which people are entitled. As long the number of these people remain below hospital critical levels, covid is over until / if some other variant arises. For now, life must move forward and as the Danes have apolitically declared, they have catered to and protected the old and the sick. Covid has become a less serious threat. It's time to give the rest of society back their lives and futures.

And pressure for vaccination and booster, when we should not need if Omicron is just little sweet kitten. In Switzerland during 4 weeks 900 k people tested positive, so the real number is much higher, the corona task force said that as much as 40% of the population could have got it. During this time the number of severe cases and deaths was dropping continuously. It would be really stupid to add restrictions as long as the hospitals are not overwhelmed.

People at risk are vaccinated. Who is not vaccinated by now, does not want to be vaccinated. If people don't understand by now that vaccines reduce the risk for severe disease or death, they will never understand this.
