There are plenty of alternatives to BKK when flying to PP. Airasia and Malasia Air fly KL to PP, JetStar and Silk Air from Singapore to PP, Dragon Air from HK, Eva Air and China Airways from Taipai, Korean Airlines from Seoul.

If you are really pissed off the the transit arrangements then Thai Airways will fly your straight through without any need to clear customs in Bangkok. Thai Airways have good connections to Europe, US and Australia. I am sure that is the case with Malasia Airlines and Korean Air as well. The discount airlines was different.

However, Singapore is relatively fast to get through in my opinion.

We fly from the UK so we only have one choice and thats to fly into BK then onto PP but thanks for the reply

What's the attitude like towards people from India in this country? I ask this because I experienced in Thailand 200% unquestionable rejection from beer and go go bars. I would think of Cambodia the same way, being such a close neighbor of Thailand, but browsing this forum I saw several references to Viets as well. So maybe things are a little different.

I work and live in California and am thinking about a second excursion after last year's disaster in Thailand. Thailand book is closed in my mind forever. Even Thai food, Thai air, Thai businesses, Thai people, everything.

I am trying to decide between Cambodia and Malaysia within sometime between next 2 months.

Other indians in Thailand or cambodia are indians who are immagrants and have no money.

If you have cash you will be welcomed in most places.

Where on 63rd St. Are the "shops" located? I usually stay at Flamingo's. Is it close to the big market or further down the opposite way? I would never consider walking there and would take a moto anyway. I just never have heard where on 63rd they are located.

So, are you saying it's a complete no as it is in Thailand or is it a little better than Thailand? I am looking to spend money while looking for my money's worth in return, simple. In Thailand they would turn me down even before I get to spend any money. That's the reason I ask. Because that kind of situation is beyond repair. Can I expect the same in Cambodia or little better than that? Help a monger!

The cab drivers are of Indian heritage, but born in Malaysia. They were all in an uproar when I was there because one of their people in the government had been shot. Long story short. They feel very discriminated against in their own homeland and are quite angry. One taxi driver told me quite seriously that Queen Elizabeth (of England) and the prime minister of Australia were going to come to Malaysia together and sort things out. I suspect you may have difficulties getting the service you desire in that country. Would definitely investigate a little further before you commit to a trip there.

As an indian in Phnom Penh you'll get some rejection. Africans and Indians have built a reputation for themselves (unfortunately) amongst the girls and bars but there are plenty of FL girls that will go with you. You're from Cali so if you speak with a perfect american accent then that will clear up alot for you. FL girls are desperate for customers so that should help, brothel girls have to go with you because there is no choice in the matter, as are massage girls.

So yes, you will be discriminated against somewhat $ and an american accent goes a loong way. Also hook up with an expat or a regular while you're there. If they introduce you to the girl then there should be no problem as well.

He'll get service but by Indian ladies then. Should be fine but don't expect lookers.
Otherwise maybe by a desperate Malay girl, but no chance to get a local chinese girl.

But also Viets, Thais and Indons hanging out here.

I have read b-pundits report on Pattaya and can only warn somebody with an unchecked temper who thinks he can buy everything by throwing around money from visiting Cambodia. If you pull a stunt like he did in Pattaya you might really end up dead in the gutter. I would recommend a visit in india, with a guru perhaps, to work on some anger management issues.

The right personality and attitude a little humor and being self assured and not a foot stomping little kid will get you from a to be just about anywhere.

Apparently Arabs and Indians are classified together, but many Thai & Russian ladies work the Grace Hotel in BKK, which is a hotel that caters especially to Arabs. So although it may be hard to find a real hot lady there, that would have been another doable option for you.

He happenned to be of Indian ethnic origin and lives and works in the USA. I could care less if the guy is purple and has two heads. However.

The guy acted like a total asshole towards the w omen in the bar. And word got around right away and of course, the "stereotype" was alive. So at least in the one instance where I was having a beer with a guy who happenned ot be Indian origin even though I think he was a US citizen, he acted like a jerk and well, there you have it. We all have to police our brothers or fairly or unfairly we are sometimes judged by artificial means because we happen to belong to a certain ethnic group.
