Hi there Forum...first time posting after having searched it a couple of times to check out the scene here in China. I don't visit that often so its not been too necessary. This is the first time I will be here by myself for a number of weeks (already spent two up north with gal). Oh and more than happy to wing with anyone.
To the report!
Can't remember which chap posted the excellent directions to 999 but they were spot on.
Not having visited Saunas/Massage parlours here in Asia I hadn't read much about the process. However, if your new, it might help your nerves if you just pretend you don't give a f**k about being naked in front of a group of guys waiting to towel you off.
I speak a little chinese so can sort of get by, so that might have helped in telling them, okay, I'm a big boy I can towel myself.
So, clothes, phone etc in the locker.
Shower in an open area (whilst almost being watched). I guess this area is if you have chosen a non sex non soapy massage as its superfluous otherwise.
Then with your "number" (on the tag to the locker) , a big pair of shorts and yakuta style top (think karate gi) you then get lead upstairs to the viewing room.
I had to surpress a chuckle at the viewing room. It reminded me of the Bruce Lee flick where he goes to the island to fight.
The room is a dark room and when you enter on one side of the room a blind raises, showing another room with the girls standing in their grundigs (pants and bras). That room is brightly lit.
Tip. Don't stand to near the window if you don't want them to see you. Its not a one way window as far as I can tell.
Now this was One O'clock in the afternoon on a Wed (yesterday) and there were approx 12 Girls standing there. Overall roughly 7's. Didnt see any better but that could be my inexperience.
I chose number 806 who I felt had nice eyes and a good smile. Plus she had a good rack (well okay.. not massive but perky).
Led to the room by the girl, enjoyed sitting on the seat naked, getting cleaned. Was surprised to have my arsehole cleaned. Quite thoroughly by the girl.
She asked me if it was my first time here in the joint, and i replied yes, but that a friend had recommended it and told me all about it. (a good idea because then she knows that I will know what will happen etc)
So, after the clean, here comes the soapy. Interesting. The licking thing? interesting sensation... equally was the rimming.. wow. not experienced that before. She spent quite some time there too.
Lots of spitting though LOL. cant say I blame her.
Right..
to the action.
after the clean up, she asked me to chose the clothes. I chose the netting. Nice look.
Blow job with water blah blah BBBJ that is, which I almost asked to be covered but my balls got the better of me.
I was busy touching her pussy whilst she was going down and she was getting wetter and wetter which was a nice indication that she was enjoying something!
Sex was, hmmm okay. Various positions, good effort, not too much fake noises.. finished a bit early and the only thing was that she then lit up a fag (she did offer one) and we chatted for ten minutes. She did try to finish early lol, but the mamasan on the phone said oi, get back!
Then back down to dress in the locker room in front of all those boys.
Damage 680 (which I only confirmed when in the room upstairs .. in an attempt to look like I knew what I was doing when walking in the reception..).
Walked around central part of nanjing etc and was approached by numerous touts... no more or less than ever (having been here seven times in the past seven years)
Went to Wuping (?) lu for the cheap restaurants. many many BBS's there. Didnt go in. Clearly the girls were not busy at that time (around 4 ish) and there wasnt that many in each one. Only one had girls I would consider.
Interestingly at night (9 ish) whilst walking to Renmin Park Station I caught a dude frigging off his girlfriend next to the massive statue... I hung around thinking maybe they'll get off on being watched, they certainly didnt stop.
hmm then went back to hotel in Pudong. Lots of BBS's nearby. Went in for a comparison.
Don't bother is my reply. They will try to get 400RMB out of you straight away.
Still the chicken I did select was nice enough.
I'll be here for a number of days and would love to have some to show me some decent places.
I hope that although I have not used all the right acronyms that this report is good enough.
Gratitude to all of you that right reports as it is very helpful.
One question, anyone got a decent place to sit, drink coffee? surf net (wifi?) and check out girls? Going to try a couple of the starbucks but not sure which one is best?
Thanks

Go to any regular pharmacy in Shanghai and you can buy Cialis or Viagra. Some don't speak English but if you look in their displays you will see it.
Has anyone been to Bourbon Street or Zapatas lately that can update me. I will be in Shanghai in 2 weeks
Has anyone been to Bourbon Street or Zapatas lately that can update me. I will be in Shanghai in 2 weeks
Was in both late May
Bourbon St now an absolute dead loss - do not waste your time.
Zapatas appears to get busier and busier. Wed night is still ladies night - so crowded - hard to get through the crowd and almost impossible to get a drink at times.
W.h.o.r.e.s are there - I never ever do any good in that place - I have wasted hours on occasions on Ruskies and Latinos who eventually ask the world for a night - the Chinese qualitry there I have never found to be any good.
IMHO - I still think Manhattan is best bet in Shanghai - others will disagree.
Can you elaborate more on your friend's KTV scam ?
Thanks...
Usual story..... nothing new on planet earth when little head prevails on big head.
he follows a tout, go to some bar/ktv joint.
Certainly not the usual and legitimate KTV establishment, most likely a venue type of dodgy bar, proposing the KTV approach, music, a girl with you, drinks, snacks, the girl gets more intimate and they have sex.
The bill comes, outrageous as happens in all scams.
He protests, understands there is not much he can do on the spot, pays (do not know if cash, most likely, or credit card, unlikely as he has family at home).
Goes back to the hotel and share the story with some friends and a local guide brings up the matter to the police with his approval.
Police raids the place and shuts it down.
Police later gets a video, most likely in an anonimous way:), of him with a girl in the establishment and clearly showing he had FS with her.
Who knows what "comments" could have been attached to the video, maybe turning things upside down, maybe allegedly suggesting he has been forcing the girl against her will etc etc
A scam always have escape plans for the scammers to get out clean.
This turns against him as it is then clear there is at least a prostitution law infringement.
Most likely police suggests he can be in serious troubles now.
We know when a foreigner is in jail in those areas, for such an offence, the key opening the door gets lost for quite a while and there is not much your home consulate can do, if they want to do something, seen the type of offence.
Consulates do not want to be seen mixing up and defending certain types of law infringements.
Nevertheless his (overseas based) company, fearing public news damaging also the company reputation, asks for unformal diplomatic support.
The main suggestion they got is to fly him out of the country immediately with no overthoughts.
Within a few hours he is on the first plane out of PRC.
This way the "problem" is removed and the police at that stage will not bother to set a trial for a no-show defendant.
Certainly he will not better show up at PRC immigration.
Having the company saved their face, the guy's ass and kept all quiet, sends then the "bill" to the employee once back home: he is fired with immediate effect having risked to damage the company image through unlawful behaviour.
Not given another appointment within the company, no!
Simply given his papers to walk home and not show up anymore at the company gates.
Jobless after 20 years of work in that place.
I do not know how he has been handling this with the family and whether they ever got any rumour about what happened in PRC.
Gotta be very careful when playing with fire.
There are already quite some risks nowadays, as we can read here, visiting legitimates venues such as well known saunas.
But falling in a scam is the recipe to serious troubles.
So guys, saunas, KTV and bbs are dangerous. What about bring girls into hotel or motel rooms? Do you think police may riad also you in the privacy of your room? At the end of tha day you can alsways say that she is your friend and you rented the room to have some privacy.
What do you think?

I would not mix up the danger occurring from LE and the danger occurring from scams.
LE can get in any legitimate and serious establishment and "clean" the place.
We have read of quite some well known venues, where one can leave his open wallet on a bench in the locker rooms and get it back intact, being raided by police. In that case both the establishment and possibly the customer get in troubles.
Those places tend to protect their customers (as much as they can) with alerts, locked doors, attempts to delay the action of the LE inside the building, so the customer can fly out.
Scams are certainly more dangerous as you will not step out of the scam without a price to be paid. In the best case scenario with much less money in your pockets. Highly recommended not to try to be smart and go to police.
It is clear the scam has been infringing the law more than what you did.
But a) they might even have connections with LE, b) they know how to set all up and protect themselves against tough victims, c) it is their "job" so they have experience and know-how on how to conduct the scam succesfully.
This can happen in any place: even more in "normal places" where the tout fishes for 'customers'

So, it seems like the KTV had a hidden camera somewhere ?
I sometime wonder if some places have a hidden camera taping you having sex in China. For example, I have heard some massage parlors or brothel in Russia video taping customers having sex with a hidden camera. Then they would use the video to blackmail the customer.

Most Watson's require prescription for V and were not selling C up to Mid June when I left Shanghai. Other small local pharmacies have both. The #1 Pharmacy on Nan Jing Walkway has both but again RX is needed for V. (Go figure)
If you dont speak Chinese bring an empty box to show the pharmacist what you want.
ES
If you go to the Portman Center/Ritz Carlton Hotel on West Nanjing Road, there is a small pharmacy on the second or third level of the Center that sells Cialis w/o a prescription. I forgot the charge, but if I recall correctly, it was the going rate when I was last there in the Spring.
The pharmacist there speaks some English, but if you bring a box of Cialis or write out the word, she will be able to find it for you.

Most hotels can be raided too. If LE can enter a private home uninvited en masse as they have done recently, they can surely enter a hotel room.
If she is not your wife, you can be in trouble. There are still laws prohibiting unmarried couples from cohabitating in China.
You may find in a raid, if your girl is a foreigner too (anything but Chinese), your explanation can hold me water. An unmarried Chinese girl could be trouble but this is more a historical oddity perhaps 10 years ago.
I don't think that LE can enter 4 or 5 star hotels but anything less than that I believe is an open target.
Whether they do or not is a question but I 2 weeks ago I took a Chinese girl from a BBS in the Qingdao countryside that kept on telling me she feared LE coming into the hotel. She told me that they come to hotels often.
Maybe it was true, maybe it was a ruse to leave early but I took it as a sign and I sent her home. Her words freaked me out.
Any more senior members wish to add their 2 cents?
Recently there has been some discussion about foreigners getting deported from China and losing their jobs becuase they are caught with a prostitute or in a KTV/Sauna etc with their pants down.
I just found an article about counterfeiting in China, apparently you must have more than 50,000RMB of counterfeit goods on your person in order for the police to procecute!!
from the article: http://www.reuters.com/article/newsOne/idUSTRE56T0BL20090730?pageNumber=2&virtualBrandChannel=0&sp=true
China's legal system hasn't helped matters. Intellectual property cases are hard to bring and even harder to enforce, according to attorneys. One problem is that China's criminal code specifies a minimum value for seized goods in order to trigger criminal action -- seizures worth less than 50,000 yuan ($7,330) aren't prosecuted by the police. Counterfeiters have responded by limiting the size and value of their shipments.
What's worse, getting caught with your pants down or having US$7,000 worth of fake product?
China can be a strange place.

Do not worry about the minimum value necessary in China to be caught for counterfeited products. You better worry to have any counterfeited item on you when you enter some countries in Europe, maybe coming back from China! A bag can be sufficient! to put you in troubles with the local customs.
Still the wife will have understanding if you are caught with a fake bag (your gift to her!, maybe)
Much less understanding if youare caight with your pants down and she is not the one in front of you!
So, the answer is pretty much easy.

must have had a hidden camera.
But it was not hte typical KTV establishment we all go.
it was certainly some kind of a place looking like a ktv, with "private rooms" etc.
