In addition to the advice you've already received on touts, you are also not comparing apples to apples. The prices you are quoting from this board are for higher end saunas. If you read further, you'll see lower end bbs's are closer to the price you heard on the street. So, 1) NEVER, EVER FOLLOW A TOUT, 2) understand different services and associated prices.

Seriously, Shanghai is more expensive than some other locales, but not by as much as you think. Really a matter of comparing apples to apples. You can get a hot girl in a luxurious sauna for $150 - this is not some street walker who uses drugs and has had multiple kids. Same thing in Bangkok might run you $120 (and Bangkok is a really tough comparison for any mongering destination). You can snag a Viet girl at a Shanghai bar for $170/ HR or $250/ nt; in Hanoi, you'd pay about the same. In HCMC, you'd pay 25% less. Steven's site has daily specials for 1,000. But still, you're not going to match some of the bargain prices in Pattaya or Peru.

If you RTFF you would know without the slightest confusion that if you go anywhere with a tout on the street, male female or young, that you are more likely to get massaged by two male thugs than a "beautiful young girl. ".

In some weeks, I'll be staying a couple of days in Jumeirah Hotel. Anybody know if the hotel is girl friendly?

Some years back I was staying across the street in Kerry and they certainly were. The first night I came in late at night with a pick up from Judy and I was so waisted, I had to ask the hotel Consigliere for my room number, when I could not remember the dam number. It seem hard to get intel on MPs in this city though. SNG lists only two chains, and a lot of those shops have closed recently. At about 1:10 they come get me and lead me down the hall with three local guys in front of me. Was told I would pick after them. In the room you are face to face with the girls probably 20 about 10 ft away. Again kinda awkward. Felt lucky the local guys didn't take the one I wanted. Cute little spinner with As. Check out my post from 8/8 do a KW search "Shanghai Shakedown". I was questioned as to its legitimacy by some of the elders but trust me it did happen to my friend and will happen to anyone. The prices in Shanghai are a joke and the women aren't very attractive at any price. Save your $$.

Shanghai is infamous for the scam where they take you to a place for cheap service where it costs you a fortune to get out of there. That said, there are still many BBS scattered around town where you can still get full service for less than 200 RMB if you know where to look for it. Most of these places have been posted on this thread.
