Long time lurker, first time poster.
This is my way of sharing my own experience and thanking for whole community that's been working hard.
First of, let me introduce myself briefly. I'm a FBC (as in French Born Chinese) in my early 30's. Lived for several months in Shanghai in 2008 and have been travelling back and forth a couple of times few years ago so I'm pretty familiar with the city and can speak decent mandarin which helps in the mongering area.
Last month, I was in SH for two weeks so had plenty of times to visit and relax.
Here's my field report:
BBS:
As some of you already stated, the few BBS at AnYuan Rd. Changde Rd. Are now closed. That's very sad because I remember back in the old days, there used to be some nice talents over there.
Another favorite of mine on QiXia Rd. Is closed as well. Though, one night, I was walking on the street and saw a few girls on the street trying to appeal guys. Did not waste my time asking for services or prices.
So after all those disappointments, decided to go to HongSong Rd. (close to metro station LongBaiXinCun on Line 10) which is considered to be the heaven for BBS.
Actually if you walk on that street you'll easily notice 5/6 BBSs. Girls would be between 5 and 7 I guess. Was very surprised by the standing of these BBSs. Nothing compared to the ones on AnYuan as the places look recent and decent! There's even a shower in the room! Was quoted 400 Y for BJ and FS and tried to go for 200 Y but the mamasan almost laughed at me. Finally paid 300 Y. Sex was great and girl pretty GFE. After 15 min of action and a quick shower I was out.
For those of you who do not want to venture so far away, there's a similar place at the intersection of YuYao Rd. XiKang Rd. And ChangPing Rd but did not try that one.

Went to the famous Buddha place on a Friday night. Place looks decent. Did not have the option to choose the girl but the one that came to my room was nice looking (6. 5).

I went there twice because of the good value for money (both times paid 580 Y) and I prefer to pay a little more for a complete 'experience' rather than going to BBSs.
To my surprise, the place is still decent but I guess this place is cheaper than the others because girls do not look as gorgeous as other places.
First time I went, I chose a 20 year-old cutie (7/10 looking). Can't remember her number sorry I'm not good with that! LOL The massage, licking and fucking was excellent and her attitude as well. After 1st pop, little didi was a bit tired but she helped me and put on some great effort for a 2nd pop.
The second time I went, the place was so crowded (around 4:30 PM on a Thurs.) and had to wait 10 min for going into the locker room and another 30 min before choosing the girl. The lineup was pretty short as a result but did not want to wait more for another look for ended up choosing a 25 year old girl (5.5 or 6/10 looking). Once again experience was good but 1st time was better. Had only 1 pop and spent the rest of the time talking to the girl. She gave me useful information. For instance some girls are so demanded that you will never see them on the lineup. Regulars just know their numbers and call to make a reservation. Some girls do not even have time to take a break but make huge money!
So I guess, models do exist in Sacrosa, you just need to know the number and routine.
Will repeat next time I am in SH and try to get one of these models' number.
Bodi:
Went there on a Sunday afternoon but place was closed!! Damn it! That was a must do for me but I left SH without going back!
The guy standing in front of the sauna told me that there was a problem with hot water so no Nuru available hence no sauna. He gave me his number for next time to make.
Sure the place will be open. During the short stretch of time I was talking to him, I saw at least 5/6 guys coming and leaving frustrated just like me! Haha.
Anyway, another piece of information for you guys, now prices would be 900 Y or 1200 Y depending of the girls. Last time (2011) there was only one rate 880 Y.
Jian Li:
Being left over at Bodi and feeling very horny, I decided to hit Jian Li sauna. Went there by subway and took me forever to get there. BTW, SNG's indication is not very accurate as the closest subway station is NOT LianHua on Line 1 but QiBao on line 9. However, Steven and his team are doing a great job and not trying to blame them but just correct them. The Place is not easy to find but if you follow SNG carefully you'll land at the right place. Got there and told the guards I was looking for Owen.
Went to the elevator and 5th floor we go. The place is huge and Jian Li was the best sauna experience during my trip. After the locking room step, I was guided right to the lineup. Pretty impressive for a Sunday evening. Around 25/30 girls I would say. Very few 7 xx, some 8 xx, lots of 9 xx and few models.
Chose a 9 xx, very cute (8. 5/10 looking), nice legs and breasts in her early 20's. Had to wait 20 min for a room as the girl told me the place is very crowded especially on a Sunday. Did not mind as the talking with the girl was good. On to the room, the wet area was massive and you have a mirror at the ceiling just at the top of the bed. Nice!
The Nuru part was excellent and could not wait for the second part to bang the girl so we did it on the wet bed. Very nice fucking.
Once on the bed, we took some time to relax and chat. She turned on the tv and a Japanese porn movie was on. Kinda turn me on. For this one, I was long hesitating between KangDing and N45 as well. I chose RedHouse because I was having lunch with a friend of mine and was already in the XuJiaHui area and least I can say is that I should have gone to KD instead. The place is old and small. Even Sacrosa looks better. You absolutely have to call Jimmy (contact on SNG website) at least the first time you go as the sauna is underground. Lineup was good around 20/25 girls. I chose an A girl which caught my eyes as soon as I saw her.
Very cute (9/10 looking) and one of the best legs in town (yeah yeah I like them long and fit! LOL). Anyway, once in the room the experience turned out to be very lousy.
First of, the room is small and the wet area tiny. Nothing compared to Jian Li. As for the massage, I was very disappointed. No talking during the session, very mechanical, she looked like she would rather be somewhere else (ok ok this is not the best job ever but no one forced her to be there. I guess). I know that the girl was fine 100 Y and the sauna took another 100 Y on their own.
Of course, it helps to speak some mandarin.

Overall, it was a nice coming back. Sauna's definitely the best experience in town for me. MPs are a good deal but from now on will try to avoid BBSs not because of safety issue. Why would you pay 300 Y for a quick bang if you can have a nice experience at Sacrosa.
One regret though, I wish I went to Heting instead of the 2nd time at Sacrosa because you've got to try different things right? Although Heting is a little more pricey I read.

At the moment all over Shanghai there is always a risk that a sauna will need to close all of sudden, so better always double check it before you waste your time and taxi fee to end up in front of closed doors!

Though there is also a possibility that the raid is not specific but rather regional, so the alternatives would also be on high alert.
If you are a regular customer or the staff somehow recognizes you they may even tell you where the weather is clear.

It is the hotel right across the street from the Intercontinental, very easy for you to check it out.
The building used to be the Changhang-Merrylin Hotel.
Now it appears to be called the Huazhu Quanji (All Seasons) Hotel.
You can check out the third floor or the fourth floor and see if the sauna is still there.
Your fallback option would be either walking to Sacrosa or take a cab to Bodi.
Was there last month, have to say it's pretty Barren at night. But I have to say I did t do much research on the area before hand. Was staying at the LE meridian there most of the lights in the are are off by 11 pm. Anyone have some pointers for the area, might be back soon.

4. For around 1000 RMB, the saunas are a safe bet for full service, you don't really need to speak any Chinese.

I agree most of the nice (r) global hotel / resorts do not offer any happy ending services.
But if a genuine massage to relax or unwind before sleep is appreciated, then the hotel massage room service is also an option.
I do agree the bill will be expensive, but the service is terrible only if the customer has unrealistic expectations.
In the Lujiazui area there are several massage parlors that cater to the business traveler crowd.
They are indeed expensive and do not offer any happy ending.
Usually they feature English keywords on the signs that say SPA, Hot Stone Massage, Shiatsu, etc.
That usually means it is expensive. (like 500 RMB for an hour of massage and still no H / E).
If you see the clientele is largely female that is also a sign to turn away immediately.
BTW, if you discover the place in question has its own English website and you realize you are having trouble finding any mistakes, then that typically means the place will be EXPENSIVE.
