Third trip to BBK, and not too much has changed in 4 years!

After taking limo from Airport (BMW 7-Series for 2, 200Bht), settled in a the Grand Sukhumvit on Soi 6, but it really might as well be on Soi 4 as it is SO close to the NEP on 4. Unfortunately they did insist on charging me for a full extra night even though my arrival was at 5am. Was hoping for more of a break. 500Bht for Internet seems excesive and I will probably try somewhere else next time, but a nice hotel none the less. Used theor web site to book so I could upgrade the room. Problem with wholesalers is that you always get the smallest room, and not necessarily for ay less than booking direct.

Culd not help my self and headed right ot to start the fun. Fund a very beautiful girl, and got half way back to the hotel before realizing was a LB. Why do they often look the best! So. Had to chase that one away.

More than a decent living. 5K USD is more or less 160K Thai Baht and with this money we can have a good living in BKK. A good condo (I assume one bedroom) will cost no more than 35K Baht. With 1K Baht per day you can eat breakfast, lunch and dinner in places with good food. Utilities (assuming reasonable air-con usage) will not go over 2500 k per month. So you'll have more than 90K per month for fun and this will buy a lot in Thailand. Of course if you dive into luxury you'll have some small problems but still you'll be able to have a nice condo, eat good foods and have some fun.

i spent some time with the manager and he told me how to get around. he told me how to get to places such as tulip and other palaces of pleasure. he also told me what bars i should try and the ones to avoid. he also pointed out that i should not spend all my evenings in the sports bar, but should get out and about. i managed to have a very full week taht was fun from beginning to end. never had to waste time or money on "dud" places.

Guess the old cliche IS true: no good deed goes unpunished. Previous night, before I'd really gotten started talking to Miss Pull, Miss Friend had taken a seat on the other side of her. I bought Miss Pull a drink as we discussed "things", and I considered buying Miss Friend a round, but I knew it would just be a drink. Besides, I wanted to finish the requirements spec, quickly sign the contract, and be on my way to implementation. Deal made, but got a slight sting from Miss Pull on departure. On her arrival, she'd ordered a beer. Now, on our departure, besides the drink I'd specifically bought her, she was having the waiter put the beer on my tab too. Not enough for me to say anything, not wanting to dampen the financial ardor I'd just purchased, but still... Just a little splinter... And Miss Friend CERTAINLY understood what had happened.

Feeling a touch guilty with respect to Miss Friend, I'd slipped her a 100 as I walked past. Would pay for her drink, or she could use for taxi money. Up to her, but it was hard cash.

I could feel the turn onto Nasty Street coming up... Now, I'm gulping the lime juice, bitterness be damned. Suddenly, a detour. "I only joking..." Whooo. But then, it's the intoxicated logic that I dread, that narrow focus... "Today, several men buy me drinks: 4 wines, some beer, 2 whiskeys, but no business." OK, if I'd drunk that mix, I'd be puking my guts out in the gutter (low alcohol tolerance). Her, it's just "focused" her reasoning facilities... "No business. I no have money..."

OK, there NEVER was an 11Bravo BG charity fund, contrary to some beliefs. Certainly a drink for some I enjoy, and I've purchased many a bg's company, but it's always been cash and carry (or should that be 'carry and cash'?) No installment plans for future "considerations"

I say, "Oh, look, my drink's finished. Have to go; bye." "Where you go? You take lady! [THAT is not a question, but a statement.] You not take me."

"No, I go home. Now." Yes, those are encircling tentacles. I break free, both figuratively, and literally (the confined bar stool space). I see an opening, and lunge towards it. Open space never looked so good. Her "no customers" observation follows me...

I'm sure the next time I see her, she'll be her old, sunny self, but, lesson learned, I will confine my Bier Garten drinking to earlier in the day.

Narrow escape indeed.
