That was a long walk from centra dangtawan hotel. I went there once, and tried to remember the road and turning, but guess I toke the wrong turn. I may have done similar and ended up at Pandora many years ago. But no matter the girl was good. I ad a limited window away from the ex-GF so had to rush too.

"dangtawan" didn't seem to gel as being properly Thai, so being a pedantic type, I looked it up. Hotel is actually called "Centara Duangtawan". Duangtawan is one of numerous ways that Thais refer to "the sun". Duang by itself means star, planet or heavenly body :), and so is a common Thai girl's name .

I have stayed there once, and it is a good hotel.

and has had a name change since you were there and is now called Centara Duangtawan. I think I stayed also under the old name and found it very good.

As with many things here, all is not what it seems at first: the blue steel gate house on Soi 13 is actually still in operation despite appearances to the contrary. Drove by again for a look, and lo and behold, I saw mamasan waving me in from a crude gate at the back of the demolition site. Same girls, same abysmal rooms, just a more cramped staging area. They are building a new place out front that may or may not be an updated version of the old, but I can't understand Northern Thai or Burmese which is what the girl seemed to be fluent in. Had to run, but will quiz mamasan when I next week.

Funny I had the same, same.

Stepped through the construction after seeing 2-3 Thai guys going in. Girls sitting in the back around the roosters The smell about the same! But still the same prices. Only just that the connecting doors between rooms are totally not sound-proof. You can hear clearly whats going on next door. So cover your girl's mouth while doing the act. :)

I will heading to Chiang Mai in a few weeks and have been searching for a suitable, moderately priced, place to stay for a few days. Galare looked interesting and seemingly in a convenient neighborhood. Have you stayed there? Is it guest/girl friendly? Any other recommendations? The other place I have looked at is Pornping Tower Hotel and Royal Princess.

Any comments?

I tried this place twice while in CM and was disappointed both times.

The place is your regular shithole: Old and rusty bar with a back room and 3 mattresses that they use for Oilys.
