But I haves worked as a pharmaceutical sales representative, and what I can tell you is that the medicine package insert will tell you what that drug / antibiotic can be used to treat along with the recommended dosage and duration of treatment. The major problem with antibiotics is incomplete or premature ending of treatment regiment, which leads to drug resistance. So next time you purchase antibiotics, be sure to read that package insert with all the fine print.

Antibiotics will do nothing to prevent catching a virus; you'd be better off taking a superdose of Vitamin C and Zinc before you monger in order to strengthen your immune system.
