Most of the time leave some reserves in hotel safes, but Tijuana is definitely not as sketchy as some Middle East countries that love Americans. I've been to some third world dumps thanks to the U.S. Govt. Honduras was a lot sketchier than anyplace in Mexico. My handyman is from El Salvador and he has some stories on MS13. A family friend that a had a holistic wellness center in Tijuana came up missing and was never found.
