Great information Undercoverh. I have been a regular visitor to HK over the years and have always done my mongering over in Wanchai. You can't fail over there! (and I am 65+). I have also used the 141 girls but have always have had them sent to my hotel. This way I beleive they send you what you ordered rather than take a chance in case you send them back empty handed. I am glad you found the info helpful. Here is a tip to help you pick which YS to go to. When you are in the YS zone, look for girl(s) going into YS hotels. When you see a girl or group of girls going into the YS hotel, they are being called to be viewed by a customer. If you see a girl you like, follow the girl(s) to that YS hotel. I normally tell papa I am interested in one of the girls--if I see one I really like. It is up to papa to decide to send her in to be viewed by the customer, or give her to you. Worst case, if the girl goes to be viewed and is picked, you still have your choice of the girls that are left or ask the papa for another selection.
Note that a large group girls in a small area (e.g., Dundas to Soy, bordered by Portland and Shanghai streets) service the YS in that area. They hang-out in back shops waiting to be called by different YS hotel papas. Well, the fact is, the papa calls the main guy (he is not a pimp, but more like a scheduler) responsible for a group of girls, then that guy sends the girls (usually 1 to 3 girls) to the YS hotel making the request. The girls that are not selected, go back to the back shop to wait to be sent out again.
I like to walk the area "ground zero" slowly after work between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and see what is available by viewing the number of girls going into YS. Note that most YS still open till 11:00 p.m., some later depending on how busy they are.
Once I found a YS I like, I am a repeat customer. I like fairly clean YS with nice mamas or papas (most of the time, it will be a man) who have access to a large selection of girls.
While in the area, you may also be approached by a pimp asking if you want a girl. I always avoid them. The deal is, you follow him to a different location in building. Or, the girl is there with him, and you follow the girl to the building while the guy is walking behind you. I do not feel safe in that situation so I never do it. However, I have always felt safe in a YS.

YS comes from the fact that most of the short time hotels in Mong Kok that supply girls for you have a yellow sign out front with lights. On the yellow sign is written the price 260 to 360, and also the type of girls they offer (Thai--which is the cheapest, Flip, Russian--most expensive at around 500, and of course china girls).
Also note that some of the short time hotels have pink signs and sometimes the sign is just a pink or yellow paper posted near the front door of the small short-time hotel. In addition, the information may be written in Chinese. No problem, just look for the sign colors with prices written on it.
These type of hotels were NOT built for the Chinese to take a vacation. They were built many years ago with one purpose in mind--to provide a place for cheap sex in Mong Kok for the working class Chinese guys. Also, there are a few of these hotels on Reclamation street. But of course, most are found on Shangha and Portland.
I would guess that there are maybe at least 100+ YS type places in Mong Kok
and P. Edward areas. In the future, I will keep better notes of the YS I like with the address so I can share the info here. However, part of the problem is YS management, the # of girls, type of girls, and best YS outlets change often. I guess this is part of the fun!

What is my best option for a white guy by himself staying in Kowloon. I would prefer a LT.

I wouldn't do that if I were you because if you were looking for LT, the girls charge too much as much as $1500-$2000 at for a philipino or Thai! Thats a rip off. Philipino and Thai girl are not worth that much money in HK! You can get a flight Thailand or philipines and accomadation for that money!
You'll be better of going for 141 girls, You go up too the buildings and just knock at the door and if you like what you see then you do the business. For a full service it will prob cost you around $500 the most for 45 minutes which is more than enough. For me anyway!

Well I only have the one night in HK before heading into China.
I know, I know there will be plenty there and cheap.
But I want a LT for HK also. I planned on doing 141 early in the day somewhere in TST. But then later I wanted to hit the bar scene and see what I can get and bring back.
Is there something equivalent to the wanchai scene on the KL side. I have heard some people saying the holiday inn-golden mile is not bad.
I honestly wouldn't mind trying to find some free. Not sure if that is even possible for a gweilo in HK.
