However, the end result will be another step down the slippery slope / one more straw in the wind / thin end of the wedge* (*delete cliche as appropriate). The new restrictions will also be seen as very lucrative avenues for shake-downs and rent-seeking by government agents and policemen.

The overall result, like the porn ban, like the "you may wear / now you must wear" jilbab rules for schoolkids, government workers and now polwan, like the most recently imposed beer sales ban in mini-markets, will be another granny step toward a much more restrictive future.
