More bahts for your dollar?
Low? Do you mean high?
In 2001 the baht was 43 to 1 USD, it's now 30 baht to 1 USD. That means the baht is more valuable now than it was 9 yrs ago (think of it this way: 1000 baht buys more USD than it used to). I think it is following the same trend with other western currencies. I dont' know anything about whether it's being deliberately kept there by someone or not. Who has the power to do that in Thailand?
I got more bahts from my dollar now than in 2001, because I am Australian. Really, the baht stays more or less the same value but the US dollar depreciated a lot (and the Aussie appreciated much).
It's all relative.

Silom Road Songkran Party
The Songkran festivities have started today on Silom Road.
If you are the type pf person with a bit of kid in them, who enjoys a wild time, and doesn't mind getting wet and lathered in white chalk...come on down!
Lots of pretty ladies, too, having a good time. Come get wet with your favorite bar girls and go-go dancers!
And, if you don't like Songkran, that's OK, too...there's always TV.
